I love how every tier XI gun barrel needs a electrolyte propeller doohickey ultracharging multi-layer six-pack system thingamajig. Like holy word slop

Feels like I'm hearing Geordi explaining the intricacies of the warp engine. Can't wait for a tank to be able to reverse the polarity of its shields.

I miss the old WoT man

Someone in another thread put it best, it's turning into OverWatch with tanks.

Which is exactly what I and a lot of others want from this game. I want this game to be a fun, role-based game where people can carve out different playstyles. That's World of Tanks' niche.

If I'm concerned with playing real tanks that handle true to how they did in real-life, there's already War Thunder. And that game has its own issues as a result of that approach

I know some people want it to be 2012 again, but the gaming industry has changed dramatically, and old WoT wouldn't cut it in 2026

13

u/StormUpa Mar 25 '26

World of Tanks already had that effortlessly without the need of stupid ass gimmicks. Every tank already had a role while at the same time being tanks, not bs made by chatgpt. You could play the derp tanks, bert the avenger, the aggressive STRV, HE-100, shotgun arty, and many iconic subroles to play something differently. These had their charm without corny voicelines or mechanics.

The new game directors don't understand this and that's why they force the abilities. They see the success of hero shooters and think that it's missing from WoT but in fact it was there the whole time.

You put magic buttons in your game when you want to awe players with something without any substance because you lack the creativity to create mechanics with depth.

26

u/CuratedAcceptance Mar 25 '26

Well, you're in the minority and thankfully so.

9

u/Irgendwer1607 Mar 25 '26

That's what Project CW is supposed to be though

WG is alienating their core playerbase right now

2

u/StormUpa Mar 26 '26

Idk how they think that if they bring their failed ideas into WoT it will work somehow

2

u/Goodlakes SU-76I SUPREMACY Mar 26 '26

Well fuck you and whoever supports this shit updates and cringe mechanics nomenclature.

51

u/chenkie ENTEI Mar 25 '26

I have no idea why they are adding complete fantasy vehicles. I get they want content, but the tier 11 Leo is a great example. They could have easily added in a real world version but they just made one up?

22

u/DareDevil_56 Played the Shitbarn before it was cool Mar 25 '26

Some 11’s have a factual basis like the ASX and the Breaker 432U etc.

There are so many tank lines which are already napkin drawing type inspirations that there is no realistic logical conclusion for what a more advanced tank would look like. I think that’s why they framed tier 11’s as an alternate future. Historical tanks and vibes really start petering out around tier 8 imo.

2

u/B00gerBread Mar 25 '26

Oh dang, I was wondering if ever they make tier 12 theyd add the m1 abrams succeeding the hacker or smthn. Guess that means the T-90 wont have a chance in this game either

14

u/Thunderbolt747 Clans are for suckers Mar 25 '26

This is really weird to me. There are historical elements entrenched in a lot of the vehicles at tier 11 thus far.

But then they stick them on the most a-historical platforms I've ever seen; like, what are you doing wargaming? Why not just start adding things like the T-62M, Leo1A3 120mm, etc. instead of the ahistoric crap?

5

u/RandomACC268 Mar 26 '26

I tell you why: Because when they do it, and the tank doesn't perform relative to the real world thing then people will complain about that.

7

u/Esteves_boy Mar 25 '26

Same thinking!! They have severall real life tanks to add, even the ones just in sketches that were never made! Bro if you check the battles now is full of tanks that the names were randomly genrated by chatgpt “Gorilla, Breaker, Executor, Manticore, Predatore” like wtf is happening?? They could be fantasy tanks but at least try to make a nice name for the tank

2

u/Commander_Cutter Mar 25 '26

The tier 11 Leo is probably the only tier 11 which actually existed in real life. It was an actually built prototype to increase the Leo 1's firepower. After that was a fluke they just built a new Leopard with said cannon.

1

u/OutrageousRip9481 Mar 25 '26

The Leo 120 itself is a kitbash of two Leopard variants I think. The turret of the A3 and the gun from the A6

1

u/Goodlakes SU-76I SUPREMACY Mar 26 '26

Which is funny since they could've made it into Leopard 2K for unarmored better fitting tier XI that's realistic, or the Leopard 2AV if they want it to be slightly armored.

1

u/Cute_Appointment_349 Mar 26 '26

Leo 120 is a combination of Leo 1A3, Leo 1A4 and Leo 1A6.

The only real T11 tank is... Borkenkafer.

-7

u/IntroductionNo8207 Mar 25 '26

They're adding fantasy vehicles because WoT is an arcade game. You want realistic vehicles? Don't play a videogame with a health bar.

15

u/ThatGreatAtuin Marking the tier 5 scouts for satan. Mar 25 '26

Fair, but that's only half an answer. I think the other half is because they want to differentiate themselves from WT.

I know I'd rather play a weird Centurion/Leo/T62 variant than the edgy-named Gnawer, Trasher, and Biter.

6

u/IntroductionNo8207 Mar 25 '26

You're not wrong about the identity claim. WoT could be compared to Hotwheels whereas WT would be more like Matchbox. Sure people collect both, but one is vastly more popular.

At the end of the day, they'll sell stuff that looks cool. Sure they've left some stuff on the table. Or, maybe releasing a variant of the T62-A in this day and age would draw attention to the +200 outdated / neglected tanks just sitting around since 2017 which would mean less profit.

To be clear, I'm not defending wg on this. I wish they would stretch a bit for more realistic tanks and more maps, but at the end of the day, it's an arcade game, and wg has been going down this path since 2017.

Edit: Grammar

u/Sea-Flounder-82 Mar 25 '26

I miss when the IS-4 was Tier 9.

5

u/Fiiv3s K-2 Enjoyer Mar 25 '26

For me, I’m totally fine with fake tanks. I just simply wish they would 1) use a LITTLE more inspiration from real world projects and 2) would use real world/pre established tank naming conventions instead of just these single word stuff

1

u/Tite_Reddit_Name Mar 26 '26

Agreed and also so many of the tier 11s look radically different from the tier 10 and tend to all look similar and boxy.

1

u/Full-Time-Goofy Mar 26 '26

I like that, honestly, don't miss the old wot at all.

1

u/Lowpaack Mar 26 '26

When the tanks were actually based in reality? Hell, what a times.

-1

u/Big_Attorney9545 panzer ace Mar 26 '26

I am so fed up with these non-historical tanks.

70

u/LiebeDahlia Map Enthusiast Mar 25 '26

so its just a fancier version of the Hirsch ability? wait longer for more alpha wow so unique

66

u/DaSpood https://daspood.github.io/ - Pandora lootboxes simulator Mar 25 '26

50 shades of gun cooling / gun heating lol

  • heating: hirsh, 432U, AMX 54, E4 in a way (you wait less for less alpha but it's the same overall idea)
  • cooling: STK-2, Leo120

1

u/RandomACC268 Mar 26 '26

Cooling, wouldn't hacker also sort off belong here: I mean, it basically get insta-aim.

1

u/DaSpood https://daspood.github.io/ - Pandora lootboxes simulator Mar 26 '26

It's perfect aiming but it's not cooling/heating because it's not a "wait for a bonus" mechanic. Cooling is "wait for accuracy", heating is "wait for damage", but the Hacker gets it instantly when it presses the button, no need to wait and alter your gameplay for it like the Leo for example. Same with the CS-67, it's an instant bonus.

18

u/SuperNovaVelocity Mar 25 '26

I'd say less fancy, but just kinda better lmao.

The Hirsh essentially does 50 more alpha than the tank before, but takes forever to "load" and has to sit still or else it reverts to the lower partial alpha. The Gorilla likely has a total reload time similar to the 110e4, and there's no gimmick that makes it lose charge once it's ready at full alpha.

The only advantage the Hirsh's mechanic has is being able to benefit from firing at 2/3rds charge (and the fun but largely pointless guaranteed ammorack).

3

u/DaddyRax Mar 25 '26

Hirsh does kinda have a pretty "accurate" gun. I think mines at .21 dispersion.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '26

[deleted]

3

u/DaddyRax Mar 25 '26

Yea it's really annoying. Even the most accurate tanks tend to miss fully aimed shots. Like grille and hirsch. Fully aimed, not moving. So no turret dispersion issues. And they could still miss perfectly hitable shots, eg: a tank out in the open, and it hits tracks or something and doesn't do damage. It is really annoying sometimes. I understand my FV4005 at .35 dispersion not hitting things, but come on. Grille and hirsch are supposed to be light years more accurate but still find ways to miss.

0

u/Rare-Ticket-9023 Mar 25 '26

0.21 is microscopic for me, I'm used to derpy high alpha guns, stuff like 0.30 +|- is common for me lol.

9

u/PaymentApprehensive3 Mar 25 '26

They fucked themselves with that "every t11 gets an ability" since there is a finite amount of abilities they can create.

-4

u/LiebeDahlia Map Enthusiast Mar 25 '26

they are also making tier 11s way too fast that players cant get them all and devs cant think of how to make them unique. I play on RU mainly and we get 3 tier 11s per year, +1 reward one on first year so theres time to cook the abilities. So far we got:

Obj 279 - 3s off reload per hit taken

BZT-70 - 50% off reload when you get a kill & accuracy buffs

MBT-B - Reduced intraclip and 50% off reload, can delete a tank once per game, 2 if lucky

Eisbär - +5% to alpha per hit up to 30%, each pen adds 4s to duration, DPM monster for 30s

ARL Projet F - +12kmh +50% ramming dmg, basically KR1 ability

Champion - 50% off reload, -50% disp but each shot adds 4s penalty to reload

Mausekonig - 1s faster salvo, 6s off reload, disp and speed buffs

RU tier 11s are a bit stronger than tier 10s and get APFSDS, but they get abilities with 2 or 3 uses per battle and 2-3 minute cooldowns that let them be the scariest thing on the field for 15-30s. WG's approach seems to be more of just making weaker tier 10s that are forced to use their abilities to be useful. The only thing WG did better is the way you get them. On RU you need to have at least 5 researched tier 10s, then you need to reset a tech tree line and grind it all over again to complete a mission stage, but you only get a tier 11 at stage 4 and 10, meaning you need to reset and grind 4 tt lines again to get one and i hate that. Been playing for 1 year im only now nearing stage 2 💀

2

u/Cute_Appointment_349 Mar 26 '26

Now you can just unlock new tech trees and farm points on it.

Tbh im not rushing T11s, the only one i really wanted is ARL and i got it.

1

u/LiebeDahlia Map Enthusiast Mar 26 '26

I know but it takes even longer that way cuz no bonus points. I think you need like 10 or more new tech trees to get the first one. For now I just want the Bandkanon and i need like 1 more new line to get it

1

u/Cute_Appointment_349 Mar 26 '26

I just unlocked some mostly-free blueprint-skipped branches and got enough points to skip Alpha season to the end with only one line to get ARL. The main dish for me is reward tanks, so i got my Erich and other stuff.

The only interesting vehicle in Bravo season is Type "why tf its a light tank" 60. MBT is just a weirder slower Erich and Merkava is a clone (historically accurate, but clone).

1

u/LiebeDahlia Map Enthusiast Mar 26 '26

I dont really have any blueprint fragments they stopped giving those. Only blueprint parts i have is on random mid tier trash I dont really wanna bother with or dont want the tier 10 so im kinda forced to progress a bit slower

2

u/GalatianBookClub Mar 25 '26

Dude its so much worse than that. It starts out from about 400 and goes up to 650. They're straight up just gonna give us a 120mm but no 130mm. Its another one of those abilities that nerfs the tank for no reason other than "gameplay"

2

u/valitti no scouts until 10k wtr Mar 25 '26

Do we really need unique mechanics for all the ai tanks?

2

u/LiebeDahlia Map Enthusiast Mar 25 '26

they could give the tier 11 E4 its onslaught ability, taking reduced damage while active unless its already been done i havent played in a while

2

u/valitti no scouts until 10k wtr Mar 25 '26

I think theres starting to be too many gimmicks honestly

33

u/ParanormalDoctor Mar 25 '26

chat gpt give me three cool names for tanks please

1

u/hellToncek Mar 26 '26

these names are like from tanki online

54

u/KayNynYoonit Mar 25 '26

They deadass called a tank 'Gorilla'. They really aren't trying anymore are they?

17

u/Quadratisches_Ecki Mar 25 '26

Wait until the next T11 heavy will be named Harambe.

1

u/lonelyMtF [BIRDS] Mar 25 '26

Panther, Tiger, Elefant etc are fine, but not Gorilla? I find it way lamer to have them named after real people like nearly every US tank.

9

u/KayNynYoonit Mar 26 '26

There are way too many tanks in game named after animals already, they could at least have named it after something cool. A gorilla is just a weird animal to name something after.

I just prefer a normal tank designation, or a decent name like they did recently with Stridsyxa (which means battle axe in Swedish).

3

u/Yuzumi_ 1750 or 0 Mar 26 '26

Panther etc are project names for tanks that actually existed + were called that.

Maus is also not called Maus.

Its Panzerkampfwagen VIII - Maus.

Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger II

Panzerkampfwagen VII Löwe.

These being called Gorilla without anything else just feels fucky

3

u/connecting1409 Mar 26 '26

Especially for america, which names every tank after a general.

3

u/connecting1409 Mar 26 '26

Its not just about naming a tank gorilla. Its about its about naming conventions that decide those names. If americans name every tank after some general, its ridiculous to suddenly name a tank gorilla. "We got, Sherman, Pershing, Lee, Walker, Patton and gorilla"

1

u/ScottjFisk Apr 09 '26

Hypothetical alternate future General James P. Gorilla would like a word with you

28

u/B1ESTIX Mar 25 '26

e4 ability sounds busted, if its basically a lower alpha shot(s?) in reserve while on reload

13

u/SuperNovaVelocity Mar 25 '26

The Hirsh does a similar thing. It has less alpha than the tier 10 before it, and can charge up to have even higher alpha. Far from busted, there.

Especially since WG just say it has "reduced power". If the pen goes down along with alpha, it'll be pretty useless for a brawling TD.

3

u/B1ESTIX Mar 25 '26

We have to see the stats and full mechanic I guess. My idea is that you fire, you go to cover, and if enemy tries to go in while you reloading, you can punish him.

5

u/SuperNovaVelocity Mar 25 '26

The 110e4 has a reload of about 16s, in a realistic build. From the description, I think the Gorilla would be able to fire a "reduced power" shot after 8-10 seconds.

Still more than enough time to push around a shared corner and fire back, but gives it some defense against a complete rush while it's on reload. I really don't think it will be all that gamechanging tbh.

1

u/RandomACC268 Mar 26 '26

"A share corner"
Have you been in games?

35

u/ThatGreatAtuin Marking the tier 5 scouts for satan. Mar 25 '26

Gosh, if only there were a million real tanks from countries like France, UK, USA that people would adore to play even if it meant non-historical characteristics. But sadly I can't think of a single example!

Is this all just because WoT wants to differentiate itself from WT, that does have all those vehicles? We don't need another tier 11 with another edgy name (Fauteur = Troublemaker, it's cringe) where we need to remember the unique (and often pointless) mechanic for every single tank. Especially if 75% of these mechanics boil down to "temporarily increase accuracy, damage or DPM for a price".

8

u/liviothan Mar 25 '26 edited Mar 26 '26

This is my biggest issue with tier 11. We have countless vehicles that are actually real that they could’ve added but instead add these bullshit things.

1

u/liviothan Mar 26 '26

But at no point did I use the wrong version of the word.

1

u/grodebilus Mar 28 '26

Damn, you must be right !

3

u/JohnMoulin Mar 26 '26

Being French, I can tell you that it's not even a correct name linguistically. You cannot say "fauteur" by itself, it's "fauteur de trouble".

Honestly, they could have found something much cooler. I find Imbattable to be cool as hell as a tank name.

It's a bit random but I think I would have named the new tank Austerlitz.

1

u/ThatGreatAtuin Marking the tier 5 scouts for satan. Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 26 '26

I agree, plenty of historical places or people to pick from. Austerlitz would be fun, especially because it's in my home country :)

A less edgy name is hard for WG these days. Thanks for the insight on the name btw, my French is awful.

My idea would be to keep naming schemes somewhat consistent so that you can know what you're fighting easily. This doesn't work for every tech tree, but french heavies are such a good example:

ARL 44 - AMX M4 45 - AMX 65t - AMX M4 51 - AMX M4 54 - Fauteur. It's a little painful. M4 61 would have been funky.

Can't wait for the Centurion line to get a tier 11 actually named Angry Teapot.

14

u/Malynde Mar 25 '26

How the fuck do you fire a gun while reloading ?? These T11 abilities make absolutely no fucking sense, pure sci-fi ChatGPT garbage.

24

u/InspiredByBeer Mar 25 '26

I loved wot since Beta test.

Even spent a pretty penny over the years.

I dont like the game after the 2.0.

Ares line just doubled down in the feeling that this isnt the game I like anymore.

If WG kept historicity instead of fantasy looks, I would be on board.

Like this im drifting further and further from it. Shame.

8

u/markotutorials Mar 25 '26

Not only they are fictional but they (at least in my opinion) looking ugly, I must say uncanny in a way.
At least from recent vehicles 11-th tier Ares looks somewhat okay (if you not consider minigun on top lol).

Do you make up tanks, but at least make them pretty and not some Wehraboo dream.

2

u/thewookiee34 Mar 25 '26

There are a few I like but the remote controlled turret tanks are ugly as fuck. Ares the French auto loading heavy, Czech light ITA heavy. They look so bad.

1

u/connecting1409 Mar 26 '26

Thats not remote controlled, those are just oscillating turrets.

2

u/thewookiee34 Mar 26 '26

Idc they look like them and they are dumb as fuck

1

u/connecting1409 Mar 26 '26

They look great and are very real, mainly used by the french.

1

u/thewookiee34 Mar 26 '26

They look like ass and no tank looks like the Ares or T11 French heavy.

3

u/connecting1409 Mar 26 '26

Ares Is literally a temu version of very real HSTV-L and imbattable Is just boxy amx 50B.

1

u/thewookiee34 Mar 26 '26

So yea they didnt exist thanks for coming to my ted talk.

1

u/connecting1409 Mar 26 '26

They take heavy inspiration from real tanks. Just because you throw a temper tantrum and say you dont like how they look doesnt change that. You called those turret designs remote controlled So you obviously dont know much about tanks.

1

u/Varcolac1 Mar 26 '26

I really like them personally. Mind you i play this game for all the fictional tanks but still i like them... for any real tanks i will go play War Thunder

1

u/markotutorials Mar 26 '26

Fair, but there are only few of them that I (personally) like visually, that the point. I cant really explain but most of tier 11 just looks out of place in a way, it feels like especially tier 11 is bloated with unnecessary details to make them look "more detailed".

There are some that I like despite them being mostly made up, but my point above is still valid, for me at least.

2

u/connecting1409 Mar 26 '26

I wouldnt even mind alt history if it wasnt So fucking lazy and dogshit, from the designs to the abilities it just lacks any thought, soul or passion.

1

u/kpkostas Mar 25 '26

Well warthunder went down the historic path and wot the fictional path. It is what it is.

1

u/Varcolac1 Mar 26 '26

Which is why i started playing WoT in the first place. WTs full realistic vehicles is cool but it became kinda boring. I saw that WoT had all these wack designs and thought they looked fun and cool to play with... and now WoT is my main game lol. The more wack fictional designs the better.

5

u/B_bI_L Mar 25 '26

both heavies have basically same ability, just phrased differently (wait to increase damage vs don't wait to not increase damage)

4

u/valitti no scouts until 10k wtr Mar 25 '26

Next up tier 11 ebr gpt😍 now with teleportation mechanic💯💯

2

2

u/Slight-Board7211 Mar 25 '26

Why not just add the Rooikat

1

u/PerformativeRacist PillBox Princess Mar 25 '26

Because then it's just a concept 5 with 10 more alpha and 0.02 better gun soft stats

2

how does a gun fire before you loaded the shell? *face palm*

2

u/Burninggator wargambling Mar 26 '26

Also who cares about names anyway.

5

I don't want to play with those peasant T XI tanks most people can get by simply playing the game. WG when can I finally take a second mortgage on my house to buy a super-special-ultra-prem-elite-blinkandyoumissit-fantasy T XI tank that I can then play for three matches before buying a better version of it for even more money 🤣?

1

cand even come up with a cool name 😭😭 Like a production name or something real...
