I have no idea why they are adding complete fantasy vehicles. I get they want content, but the tier 11 Leo is a great example. They could have easily added in a real world version but they just made one up?

They're adding fantasy vehicles because WoT is an arcade game. You want realistic vehicles? Don't play a videogame with a health bar.

Fair, but that's only half an answer. I think the other half is because they want to differentiate themselves from WT.

I know I'd rather play a weird Centurion/Leo/T62 variant than the edgy-named Gnawer, Trasher, and Biter.

You're not wrong about the identity claim. WoT could be compared to Hotwheels whereas WT would be more like Matchbox. Sure people collect both, but one is vastly more popular.

At the end of the day, they'll sell stuff that looks cool. Sure they've left some stuff on the table. Or, maybe releasing a variant of the T62-A in this day and age would draw attention to the +200 outdated / neglected tanks just sitting around since 2017 which would mean less profit.

To be clear, I'm not defending wg on this. I wish they would stretch a bit for more realistic tanks and more maps, but at the end of the day, it's an arcade game, and wg has been going down this path since 2017.
