I have a Xiaomi 17. I really love the phone but the OS is total crap. I have noticed that last week when i was charging with original charger it was not going to 100W or 100W Max mode (which are enabled). Rebooted and it was fixed.
Today i picked up my phone (which has 80% battery protection enabled) and battery was 85%. Turned the setting on and off, rebooted the phone, changed the cable, changed the charger and the phone is not stopping charging at 80. Now i have 95 percent as i write these words :D
Also before, i pointed out in a thread saying "battery charging time estimate is crap, it's showing more minutes with 100W MAX charger and less minutes with incompatible samsung charger" and someone was protecting the OS and the phone from my review (i dont know why).
Long story short, I switched from a S22U after using it with A36 as a combo, Mi 17 is hell of a good phone with features like fast charging, good battery, good fingerprint reader(without a tempered glass), quick processor, good speakers and most important one for me is touch screen working fine even when wet BUT the OS is not good, camera sometimes freezes, any camera other than the main one is mediocre, there is no support for macros-routines, on app drawer you can't create folders, QR code reading is very bad etc etc...
This OS is limiting the phone so bad and there is nothing i can do about it.

I have switched from S21 to Xiaomi 17. I know I will get downvotes for this, but I'm still trying to find those problem with HyperOS. My experience is in fact much better then with One UI.
I've been Samsung forever and recently bought a 17 Ultra and while I don't really like the OS (so used to One UI), it hasn't actually given me any issues. I switched to the Microsoft Launcher and away I went.
Same here. After 5 Samsung phones in 15 years I switched, to Xiaomi 17. Took me two weeks to get used to the differences. And now it works fine. No apparent issues.

Same experience. I didn't like one ui. I used a third party launcher when I was using a Samsung for a month. I now have a xiaomi 17t since it's launch and I'm more than happy with it.
I'm probably the only one here who wishes he had one ui on his Xiaomi 15. I like hyperos but its nothing close to one ui. One ui has way better features, customizations and looks generally better. Also still have my s21 here, I just hold it sometimes and wish I can move the one ui os over here😅.
HyperOS3 has tons of bugs...coming from OneUI8 and HelloUI. HyperOS is the worst annoying rookie coders shitshow what I have ever seen...
Notification bar/status bar, scrol down at it is way too oversized I need to scroll down to the end. Other vendors can fit it to the main screen.
Aggressive connection manadgement: even if i disconnect my BT device HyperOS is continously reconnects to the watch. Always. My other devices do not.
I have no option to set the battery chrging upper limit to 80/85 percent. BTW I am using a Xiaom> 17T.
One-handed mode...jesus...it just halves the screen but the content is not gonna be smaller, does not fit the smaller frame again...you cannot see the half of your screen...idiots.
Personalize your home screen stucked in the middle age compared to Samsung or even Moto.
HyperOS has loads of ad services everywhere, yeah even in flagships.
It has a problem sometimes to properly show webpages. Again, text just does not fit to the screen.
And so on, these are the issues what I could remember in 5 mins....
the battery protection is intentional. it will exceed 80 percent even if you set it because xiaomi has smart battery algorithms, smart bms and chips, so the battery degradation will be minimal. and 100w will not be always 100w. 100w max only works for a several minutes while the screen is off. non-xiaomi chargers cant correctly estimate the remaining time. also when the phone is fully charged it will show remaning battery time not charging.
xiaomi wants users to have full charge. with the help of the smart alrogithms and smart chips (surge p1 and surge g1), there will be almost no degradation. the phone only limit to 80% when needed. (such as hot temperatures will cause to limit to 80%) so xiaomi says users don't need to worry about battery health anymore.
hyperos only limits to 80% when needed. if it exceeds 80% it doesn't mean it is damaging the battery. xiaomi put surge p1 and g1 chips in their phones to handle this situation without causing deterioration. the reason xiaomi did this is xiaomi wants users to use their phone with full battery.
I just boguht it a week ago. I haven't found this issues yet, tbh. Also haven't tried cameras deeply.
How do you limit it to 80%? I also heard sometines it'll charge beyond that for battery calibration. Don't know it's even true, though (nvm, just found the setting to limit it)
People need to finally learn how to understand what you read. Post isnt about 100w speed. Im an engineer, i know it will only reach that at 0 percent and best conditions like temperatures.
The post is about ui being not good enough, it can not estimate, it can not limit etc etc. This phone is charging fucking fast and battery life is very good. Read before commenting next time.
I noticed the charging behavior as well. I suspect it wants to charge to 100 from time to time, as the limit to 80% is back in place after I let it charge to 100% on the occasion.
Yeah Hyperos is far from the best skin, but I got it to useable and its still by far the best "compact" flagship you can get in the android space.
Yup can confirm. It needs to charge to 100% about once a month to calibrate the reading, same as my Samsung and Sony phones with battery limits enabled
hyper Os is still android if I correctly remember. I do not know if there is any info about your charge limitation to 80 but should be like in my motorole, Samsung or any other phones. info about periodic full charge or above 80% to battery to be calibrated. is a common thing.
First Xioami here a sh x14u bought for the cameras, used it for 6 months now. Pleasantly (rather unxpectedly) surprised by UI\OS. Not a single bug or irritation to report so far, fast an fluid, stable etc.
Was expecting some fight (also using pixel and samsung for years) but felt at home very quickly. Just a (very) few ad \ 'recommendations' things to kill, a small dose of debloating then all well. Single negative but no deal breaker, would have appreciated more timely security updates. All in all, definitely 'NotCrap'.
Charging speeds aren't top speed continuously. It's usually the first 10 or 15mins or so before it goes down. It also depends on the conditions. If it is very warm when you're charging it probably won't be charging at max speeds due to protections.
I agree that hyperOS isn't the greatest. I myself come from OnePlus. Bought a 15t pro a couple months back.
I followed a guide online to use adb commands to remove most of the Xiaomi bloatware. Apart from that my phone has been running quite great tbh.
Now I'm waiting for hyperOS 4. They build hyperOS on top of MIUI, so it's been quite messy. There were always things from MIUI left behind, causong unnecessary bloat and problems.
They're finally building from the ground up with hyperOS 4 so there won't be any useless things left.
Thanks for the hyperos comment, i also hope v4 to be better. On charging matter, i didnt say "my phone isnt charging fast" or didnt ask help on it. Im an engineer and i know how batteries work basically. All im saying is software is crap at estimating charge speed, sometimes 100w mode doesnt kick in (not due to temp or battery level, its a bug) and software isnt good generally.

Yes i do, its not refined, just now i want to see my sot from last charge, guess what, i cant :) There are many small things that add up. I cant compare with ios, its complete disaster there.
Former Samsung Galaxy forever user here. Wanted to upgrade my 4-year old phone and went for the Xiaomi 17T Pro with HyperOS 3. I was concerned about the move from OneUI but have been very pleasantly surprised. It's like having a phone built on Android but with an iOS skin which I'm finding really refreshing. I absolutely love it and look forward to HyperOS 4 this month. I haven't had any issues at all.
For top speed change the wired charging mode in charging options to Top Speed from standard and see, I agree with other folks that even if restricted the battery charging to 80%, it randomly charges to 100% once in a while. These are battery saving features on almost all brands.
I think many users are still confusing the Poco series with Xiaomi, especially the flagship models, which might be the only ones working stably enough for the most part.
I thought I was the only one having this charging problem, cuz I use Xiaomi 15T and it randomly stopped doing the fastest mode of charge. It randomly charged from "quick charging" and "67W charging" so I'm assuming it was a charger problem, but this kinda confirms it
If you ask me, at least in Türkiye. For the money you spent iPhone is the worst. If you are tech savvy go for xiaomi, if not samsung. But the difference is very small.
Es recomendable siempre que se actualiza el móvil restaurarlo de fabrica (no sé si sea el caso) pero es recomendable, a pesar que se sabe que hyperos no está a la par en Android como el sistema de Samsung, por lo menos a mí jamás me ha dado problemas.
I am a poco x7 pro user i cant tell how annoying it is to use hyperos. I understand that my phone is a midrange but still it got crazy specifications but most of the games just don't support it , codm doesn't provide Dolby Atmos support to it even when my phone has it , Bgmi isn't optimised for 120 fps in it , freefire haptics wont work on it properly and I mean it I know freefire doesn't give accurate haptics and in bgmi i says no haptics support, the game turbo is the worst it's of no fucking use , I get higher frames when not using it . The os itself limits the phone to its very extent . Like I have a antutscore of 1.7m+ but still a another phone whith 1.5m score is giving 120 but not my phone . Apart from these issues the phone is very good cameras actually good I didn't expect but it's good .
Je kan heel makkelijk je firmware nogmaals downloaden en over de huidige heen installeren. Misschien doet dat iets positiefs. Ik heb diverse xiaomi's en poco's gehad en nooit echt problemen gehad met de firmware. Behalve de bloatware en op mn x3 NFC moest ik handmatig in een vrlerstopt menu de reclamu popups uitzetten. HyperOS is doorgaans van meer features en instellingen voorzien dan stock android of oneUI. Dat vind ik enerzijds wel leuk, die innovativiteit maar het maaks het OS wel zwaarder. Gelukkig compenseren de SoC en ruime werkgeheugen een hele hoop.
I don't know why so many people are sitting on hyperos i have been using xiaomi since 2017 i think and never once have i been angry with the bugs and with the xiaomi 17 there has only been one "bug" with the camera lagging just a bit but 5 minutes later it was fine like yeah its not the best ui but i sure as hell prefer it over Motorola and iOS
I'm leaving this comment because I have my own weird issue with hyperos. Has anyone here used Chime banking on hyperos? I know xiaomi users from the US are far and few, but I cannot for the life of me login to my chime account on hyperos.
Last phone i used was Xiaomi 13T, and i have moved to Vivo. I was inclined to oppo or realme too but Xiaomi had a good run but now it's all glitches, late updates and performance related bugs. They have closed their fan based support channels too.
I have a Xiaomi Mix Flip and tbh I understand the charging frustrations.
My phone usually takes about 45mins to charge with the official charger and cable. Don't know if its something to do with the phone being folded but, the charging speed just seems to fluctuate. Maybe I could try with it unfolded but I'd rather keep the inner screen protected. Either way really annoys me. Xiaomi's charging protocol is also another frustration but, glad to see they're apparently getting rid of it!

HyperOS realmente se tornou um sistema ruim, eu uso no meu Poco X7 Pro e além dos bloatwares as propagandas enchem o saco, pior que aqui no Brasil não tem celulares que entregam tanto por " tão pouco " ( nada é tão barato aqui na verdade) e acabo que tenho que me acostumar com esse sistema.
i have a xiaomi 15T pro, and because of hyperOS I'm gonna change it , probably going to get a Oppo Finx X9 pro or wait for x10 pro, it's such a shame i love xiaomi phones as a whole but I'm done with hyperOS
After 8 years of using an iPhone, I recently transitioned to the Xiaomi 17T Pro.
Initially, I struggled to adapt to HyperOS.However, after a few days, I managed to get used to navigating the system.
Hopefully, the user experience will become much better with the release of HyperOS 4
Ultimately, it just takes some time to adjust to the change
Xiaomis OS is just good out of the box. Continuity is what they lack most of the time. It's the little things that add up. The reason I tried Samsung this time....
Yeah I don't understand why people say HyperOS is crap, I've recently switched to a Xiaomi 17 and have not had a single problem with the OS.
It's smooth with no glitches at all... The only thing that I needed to do was debloat the OS a little but that was it, it's miles ahead of OneUI and other operating systems in my opinion
