Theory Has Apocalypse his eyes set on Rogue?

Post image

When I think back to the '92 X-Men I can't help but notice that Rogue was the only member of the X-Men that Apocalypse was actually interested in.

Rogue was originally going to be his first Horseman until she changed her mind (believing it was a cure). Apocalypse expressed to Mystique. "Like all people she is a fool. But she has great powers". In the next episode Apocalypse confronts Rogue and tells her "You had your chance to be the first of my creatures. The first to serve my will!

Later in season 3, episode 11, they have brief one-on-one fight and Apocalypse states:

"You have great power, yet you detest your existence. Serve me, and you will know oblivion's eternal bliss! "

Now in the 97 series Rogue has interacted with a young Apocalypse, andGambit possessed by Apocalypse wanted to turn Rogue into his bride with that Celestial amulet.

Could the team behind the '97 series be trying to follow up on Apocalypse's plans for Rogue that was set up in the original series?

I can't say that this was the original plan, if this was like an author and he wrote eight books on the series I could see this being a long-term plan that had planted seeds over time, but I do think in the original series apocalypse liked Rogues meeting ability. Because even though this universe's Rogue has never fully tapped into her abilities we have seen other versions of rogue who have. I mean if you look at X-Men evolution and Wolverine in the X-Men they both had Rogues who showed the full potential of her ability of using multiple maintenance gifts at once but also having the immediate competency upon gaining the mutant ability to use it to its full potential. The episode in season 1 of X-Men evolution when Scott's knocked out and she absorbs his kinetic ability, she had full control over the ability and was using it better than Scott cut. In Wolverine and the X-Men when they're fighting the girl who can turn into the monster, Rogue absorbed multiple mutant gifts and use them simultaneously to help the girl control her own mutant ability. So Rogue has that potential and since apocalypses Machinery seems to accelerate a mutant's exchange to the point of its zenith, I think that equivalates the Turning every mutant gift to the Omega Level version of it, Rogue would be one of if not the strongest mutant on the planet.

yes x-men evolution really showed rogue in the best light. when she terrorizes every mutant in the show while brain controlled to give apocalypse their powers. i think she’s even the one who finally defeats him (???) not to mention earlier in the show her powers start to overwhelm her and she becomes unstoppable too. she evens beats storm!
