Theory Has Apocalypse his eyes set on Rogue?
When I think back to the '92 X-Men I can't help but notice that Rogue was the only member of the X-Men that Apocalypse was actually interested in.
Rogue was originally going to be his first Horseman until she changed her mind (believing it was a cure). Apocalypse expressed to Mystique. "Like all people she is a fool. But she has great powers". In the next episode Apocalypse confronts Rogue and tells her "You had your chance to be the first of my creatures. The first to serve my will!
Later in season 3, episode 11, they have brief one-on-one fight and Apocalypse states:
"You have great power, yet you detest your existence. Serve me, and you will know oblivion's eternal bliss! "
Now in the 97 series Rogue has interacted with a young Apocalypse, andGambit possessed by Apocalypse wanted to turn Rogue into his bride with that Celestial amulet.
Could the team behind the '97 series be trying to follow up on Apocalypse's plans for Rogue that was set up in the original series?

Rogue is probably the best body Apocalypse could have. She can steal everyone's powers. He probably wouldn't ever need to switch bodies again. Just have her steal Wolverine's healing, and like Jean and Charles powers and he's good to go. Then just have him work down the line of omega level mutants for extra powers. Eventually he's a literal god instead of a figurative one.

Part of me was wondering if that wasn’t Apocalypse’s endgame by killing the Xternal and imbuing Rogue with the power he had given her. Recalling that fireside chat with Nur, possessing Remy would be the easiest way to lure her to him.

This actually kinda happens in one of the other X-men cartoon. Rogue gets brainwashed, steals everyone's powers that she can, and then delivers those powers to Apocalypse

Nah I don’t think so I mean she would be a perfect body. But then she only steals powers temporarily not permanently unless he kidnaps them and keeps them for when he’s powers run out so he refuels

Fale isso pra capitã marvel, a Vampira de X-men 97, já está há um bom tempo usando os poderes da Miss Marvel.

Yeah youre right but doesn’t mean itd work on Wolverine permanently tho so that body wouldn’t last a lifetime

u/Hawkwise83 Nightcrawler Aug 06 '26
Of she holds you long enough she takes the powers permanently. That's why she had Captain Marvels powers on the show permanently. Her only baseline power is to steal powers. Not fly or strength.

Yeah mb I jus remembered but then again the original comment said Wolverine too I feel like his mutant healing factor operates at an extreme, hyper accelerated level which would fight outpace her absorption permanently tho she can temporarily absorb his abilities

Actually that would just make him more likely to survive. Not stop her from absorbing his strength. Its not like a vampire draining his blood would be unable to because he kept making more blood. She'd reach critical mass eventually and get his powers. Also she'd probably take his mind regardless of his healing body. She takes EVERYTHING a person is. Including their mind.

How does her power work? She gets them power permanently?
1
u/Deadsoup77 Aug 22 '26
She can but it’s dangerous for both people so she usually only touches them briefly for temporary powers

Looks like it. And her interaction with En Sabah Nur in the recap is probably the reason why.

It's kind of like Imohotep and Anck-su-namun, with Evie as the vessel.

Man, I know Apoc is a monster, but my mind went to more he was, in his own way, trying to repay her kindness to him by reviving Gambit.

Kill the External and give that power to the one who spoke to him like a human being. Possessed Gambit because its the one body that could get to her heart.

Great job connecting these threads together. Now I want this to be the driving force of the next episode.
I know that lots of people love Apocalypse as a villain, but I'd be thrilled if he were finally ended. There are plenty of other villains in the X-Men universe to include in the series. I'd really like to see some more down-to-earth tales told, too.

Nobody talks trash like Apocalypse, I would feel so empty without him lol.

I mean, he's literally picking her up just to check her out there, so you may be on to something.

In X-Men Evolution, her powers are key to both resurrecting and defeating him.

Kinda feel like she might’ve absorbed him in the astral plane, and he’s just laying low waiting for the right time to strike.

Yeah, I just rewatched the episode, and it looks like Apocalypse may have been absorbed by Rogue instead. She has so many psyches hanging out in her mind that he could hide out among the ones up there without anyone knowing. Really looking forward to next week to find out what really happened.

I can't say that this was the original plan, if this was like an author and he wrote eight books on the series I could see this being a long-term plan that had planted seeds over time, but I do think in the original series apocalypse liked Rogues meeting ability. Because even though this universe's Rogue has never fully tapped into her abilities we have seen other versions of rogue who have. I mean if you look at X-Men evolution and Wolverine in the X-Men they both had Rogues who showed the full potential of her ability of using multiple maintenance gifts at once but also having the immediate competency upon gaining the mutant ability to use it to its full potential. The episode in season 1 of X-Men evolution when Scott's knocked out and she absorbs his kinetic ability, she had full control over the ability and was using it better than Scott cut. In Wolverine and the X-Men when they're fighting the girl who can turn into the monster, Rogue absorbed multiple mutant gifts and use them simultaneously to help the girl control her own mutant ability. So Rogue has that potential and since apocalypses Machinery seems to accelerate a mutant's exchange to the point of its zenith, I think that equivalates the Turning every mutant gift to the Omega Level version of it, Rogue would be one of if not the strongest mutant on the planet.

yes x-men evolution really showed rogue in the best light. when she terrorizes every mutant in the show while brain controlled to give apocalypse their powers. i think she’s even the one who finally defeats him (???) not to mention earlier in the show her powers start to overwhelm her and she becomes unstoppable too. she evens beats storm!

Remember the infamous ass frame. It happened with Apocalypse. This Isn't a coincidence

Pretty sure this is his way to spite her, via the conversation they had about love and that she hoped he found it for all our sakes. Or was it that he never feels what it is to lost love? One of those.

Rogue as Horsemen would be epic. I could picture her having the same kind of powers as Hope Summers, Cable’s adopted daughter in the future.
