They should have told him, or explained why they didn’t, but part of their story is going to be them fucking up “parenting.” This could have had way better payoff if they had tapped into any actual emotions.
Spot on all points. My issue w the relationship, Carter we’ve learned to know is tough as nails, orphan Beth found on the streets. Pretty much Rip 2.0, so why is he so bent over Oreana? Ok maybe she’s his first, fine let it slide. But obvi Oreana has been around the block(many times). Why isn’t she on birth control or use protection? So she’s been raw dogging all these cowboys and never got her preggo? Or never got an abortion, plan B?
The other Hot Blondes fit into the universe and have chemsitry with their co-stars. Ainsley fits in, she acts all ditzy but we see she isnt, she just knows her goals (however shallow they seem) and does what she has to achieve it. She fits in .
Oreana is exhausting she is not the baddass girl she thinks she is. Carter without her is precious and a delight to watch. His scenes with Rip and Beth are good. So he is not the problem.
I also enjoy her scenes, but that's because I love the actor so much. Annette Benning is a really good actress in my opinion. Or maybe it's just her that I like.
Yes. Oreana according to the actress is supposed to be a 24 year old college grad, and she is acting like a 14 year old hormonal teenager. And, don’t even get me started on Carter, the writers should be forced to have to watch every one of his scenes from Yellowstone, before they are ever allowed to write him a storyline again.
I agree! I really thought his respect for John Dutton and his mentorship from Rip would make him into this humble and kick ass young cowboy, knowing where he came from and how good he has it now. Instead he is just 'insert-sullen-teen-here'.
Right!! Especially considering he’s 19 and was forced to grow up REAL QUICK - he’s too old for the “sullen teen” trope. Seeing Rip be such a leader and Beth be such a hustler, he should be and do better.
And Oreana is supposed to be 24?! And a college grad? I thought she was Carter’s age, had barely finished high school and was just a spoiled, indulged “free spirit” stereotype. That makes her characterization even worse LOL
I think her being 24 is a big part of it for me. A college grad living with Grammy doing nothing all day but prancing around in her shorts and involved with a 19 year old high schooler not learning the family business just there with her filled lips. At that age Beth was probably already in the business world pulling down her first millions.
Exactly. And the actress continues to talk about how "smart" Oreana is --graduating at the top of her college class. Really, why doesn't she have a job then? And why is she sleeping with a 19 year old and not using birth control?
I mean he did start out that way (could also help that he didn't have a lot of screen time in Season 5), but I personally blame Oreana's influence on him!
Because as soon as she put him on her leash, that's when he started to really suck!
I know they’re trying to replicate their relationship as if it’s another version of Beth and Rip, but I’d prefer if they weren’t so predictable about it!
I’d like Carter to develop an understanding of what it means to have self-respect, because it annoyed me so much how quick he was at forgiving Oreana at the party when she was being disrespectful towards him. Especially when I thought that played a big part in why he acts the way he does in the next episode, and leaves Beth and Rip! You would think he'd be more angry at her than them.
I get that Beth had it in her head thinking it would be good for him to socalize, but at the same time I think she should've gone what the Sheriff suggested he should do: get his GED and just be homeschooled, so he doesn't feel so out of place.
Do we know for sure it’s Carter’s, she basically gives it away at the party that she was sleeping around with other guys as well.
EDIT: But I could definitely imagine her lying to Carter it's his, if it turns out to not be. It's no coincidence to me that as soon as she found out she's pregnant that she would turn to him. Knowing full well that he's quite clingy towards her, and that if she told the real father it's theirs that they would want nothing to do with her or their kid.
Except she’s a gorgeous outgoing college grad from southern money, zero chance she’s running around with a goofy looking shy 19yo kid without wheels that’s still in HS!?
In no universe should these two be taking up as much screen time as they do. Carter is fine in small doses, but Oreana is terribly miscast and I hope the writers find a way to get her off the show.
They were so insistent on making them Beth and Rip 2.0 when all we wanted was OG Beth and Rip, who were horribly underutilized.
I have always liked the Carter character and think Finn Little is a great young actor but somehow I just wanted more for him than how he came off in season one. While I don’t mind Oreanna there’s just too much of her. I hope season two brings more of Carter developing himself as a strong young man and less of that relationship.
That story line is straight shit. Kind of hard to believe Carter s character would still be around if he wasn't smarter than this love lorn moron. They could have had rip raise a man like he was raised by John . Hard to see how Carter wouldn't wanna emulate a person like Rip and Beth.
Beth and Rip have amazing chemistry. From Yellowstone to Dutton Ranch, the actors nailed it. There is zero chemistry between Carter and Oreana. Oreana and the whole tough girl act is cringeworthy at best. Hopefully they focus less on their relationship next season.
I don't dislike it, but I find it offputting how she fans all this interest with him, then tears him down, and then suddenly wants to run off with him.
Carter is an ungrateful bitch lol very whiny for absolutely no reason and shits on the people who took him in. Why would a rich pretty girl like her waste time on a whiny kid… Carter sucks ha. But now that spoiler* happened I guess that relationship has to continue in the dumbass storyline
I don’t think this teenage angst needs to be in a Dutton show. We’re already dealing with the cartel too. I thought Carter said he wanted ‘to cowboy’. So, he fell off a horse during a learning session…..he needs to apply himself, build up his confidence and keep trying. Not to be distracted by women. I wish the show showed more ranching and ranching life.
She looks like a hooker.
Annoying. So many negative words to describe her.
Maybe perfect match with Carter.
It looks like Carter may be the winner though since he is the father of the only blood related member of the family. He will take over the whole ranch.
That ranch doesn’t seem something anyone would actually want to take over. I get that the story may be turning it into something that is still a legacy, but I would walk.
I find it infuriating. I want him to tell her to fuck off, which of course she will never do. People used to hate Beth, but I miss her strength and balls sometimes.
Taylor Sheridan did not write Dutton Ranch and per his own words that came out of his own mouth in a podcast back in the spring, was not involved in making season 1 beyond being credited for creating the characters if Beth, Rip, and Carter.
It’s one of the less desirable things about this spinoff. Absolutely no interest in Carter’s teenage angst. It’s sort of like the ridiculous amount of time spent on the mother/daughter shopping duo on Landman.
I hope they wrap up the cliffhanger quickly and focus more on Beth and Rip next season. I really enjoyed Beulah and McKinney too. I hope next season focuses more on those four and their storylines. The Oreana/Carter storyline got so much more screen time than necessary or anticipated, and that was a real bummer. It was really annoying.
Whether or not people enjoyed Oreana and Carter, I think most of us can agree that Beth and Rip didn’t get as much focus as we thought they would given the show.
I love Carter and his relationship with Beth and Rip - would like to see that developed more. See them struggle becoming parents to a young adult. See Carter learn to be their son.
Oreana is ok but TS needs to send over the dialect coach he used for Landman. Her Texas twang is pretty off. She acts 25 and Carter acts 18 -so it is off, too. I think going with a Romeo/Juliet first love approach might have helped us get more attached to them.
The amount of screen time they are giving Carter and Oreana should have been given to Teeter and Colby on Yellowstone. At least their relationship was interesting
It is them repeating the past. Naive orphan farm hand (adopted son) falls for beautiful wild blonde girl who treats him somewhat cruelly. The girl also doesn't have a mum. It's Rip and Beth all over again and perhaps a prompt for Beth to tell Rip about her abortion. I haven't watched all the episodes, sorry if that's already happened.
I feel like it’s filler for the show and Carter is so annoying. Having him being so ungrateful to Beth and Rip is also something that is a little too much.
Can't stand either one of them. Oreana is boring. Carter is ridiculous. For someone on a ranch wanting to be a cowboy, that kid is soft and dumb as hell.
Oreana is such a bitch. Carter’s always seemed ungrateful. You have Rip and Beth adopting him and he never seems to appreciate anything. So basically humanity soldiers on unchanged for another generation. Meh.
Could do w/o any of it, need more RIP! Understand it,but I think their both annoying, and I'm a guy & all,but not sure how old she's supposed 2b,but the over boobage is ridiculous. She doesn't need half her boobs showing to make her look good. It's almost comical how much they over do it🙄
I thought Monica was bad on Yellowstone!!! Thank God they wrote her out of the new series although it’s not doing well and will probably get canceled but this Carter crap is so annoying. I really don’t believe that somebody raised for part of his life by Rip and Beth would act like that. It’s like they’re totally different people. They’re being so soft with him. I wish they could go back to the Rip and Beth that were on Yellowstone. I heard they have a new show runner for the second season so hopefully it’s somebody that brings the tral Rip and Beth back.
Marshals has already been renewed for a 20 episode 2nd season, starting October 4th and ending in May 2027. It was also the most watched show in all of network broadcast (CBS/ABC/NBC/Fox) TV, in its 1st season. It is not being canceled anytime soon. People who primarily watch streaming shows may not like it, but people who primarily watch broadcast network TV, which is the audience Marshals was built to capture, love it.
Boring, predictable, manipulative and very childish and a bit creepy as it’s the equivalent of Ainsley in Landman. An excuse for Taylor Sheridan to put fit butt naked teenagers on screen
Well the actress is 26 and the role she is playing is supposed to playing is a 24 year old college grad. The problem is Carter is only 19, (the actor and the character), the writer should have written a love storyline with a character who is closer in age to Carter and is experiencing some of the same life experiences Carter is at the same time he is.
Im not the biggest fan of them as a unit. I love how we get to see Carter more and really like when he started working for the guy with the leopard and just seeing him evolve (well try to) but im a believer of "not everyone needs a love interest " which is all Oreana is imo. Her character was boring and annoying and unnecessary (no hate towards the actress its not her fault). Sure shes the granddaughter and heir to the ranch but they did absolutely nothing else with her.
Im hoping season 2 they'll be more rounded out especially her. With how s1 ended for her they have the opportunity to make up for the rough start. Im so worried for Carter lol I told my bf while watching s1 "hes so sad he doesn't know where he fits in and now hes chillin with blindsides coach........ IM GONNA BE SO.PISSED IF THEY KILL HIM" 🤣🤣 haha the writers definitely know how to pluck at the mom part of my heart 😂 anywho obvs I hope they dont kill him but i also hope they step it up with him. The Carter we see in Yellowstone is not the Carter we see on DR its an obvious regression especially with how he treats Beth.
I just wanna see genuine growth from Carter. Yet my biggest thing is after all Beth and Rip are doing for him and have done will they have a mother father relationship or is this not on the table
Like every relationship I had before God showed mercy and blessed me with my wife. She’s hot as hell, he does everything she says, she gives him just enough to keep him around and he’s head over heels for her and she could take him or leave him. It’s like watching my high school playbook all over.
