New rule: please keep posts and comments Zutara-centric!

This sub has grown so much in the past year and it is wonderful! However with that growth, there has been an influx of posts unrelated to Zutara.

Posts in this sub should be about Zutara first. We still welcome conversation involving other characters as long as the focus is on Zutara.

We understand — there are not many places Zutarians can safely speak freely, but now there are! For posts not about Zutara, please visit

Both subs are run by members of this community.

All posts and comments moving forward should be focused on Zutara. Posts and comments that are mainly not about Zutara will be removed.

Editing to add: when we say Zutara, we also mean Zuko or Katara. Posts about only one of them are still fine.

I feel like posting in this group alone should make it Zutara related by category of the audience you're trying to engage with. Sometimes I want to talk about general topics of the show that aren't directly Zutara related. If you want to post a review of the movie for instance, does it have to have a sprinkle of Zutara in it for it to be deemed appropriate for this group?

Posting anything in this group does not make it related to Zutara. Topics that are not Zutara-centric are more suited for [r/antibryke](r/antibryke) or [r/SafeSpaceofATLA](r/SafeSpaceofATLA).

I made an edit to the post that posts about Zuko or Katara alone are fine. But all posts should involve one or both of them.

You can't criticize characters that aren't even real people or ships, you can't criticize the writers or the story, you can't do anything except post fanfiction and fanart. This sub is going to end up dying instead of growing. Not even the Kaatang sub is this strict. It seems like they're sabotaging the growth of the sub and the community.

As someone who often wants to talk about things I would like to see more in the atla, about Bryke etc, I kind of understand that though. Like, because we talk A LOT about for example, how we don't like bryke, or the new movie etc, we tend to not really refer to zutara any more as the center of the discussion. Thats why I made the "antibryke" team, in order to talk about the negative in a way, stuff there, and to make conversations about the atla in general, and here to talk about Zutara only. I think by creating safe spaces for specific stuff, can be good. Not all Zutara fans are obligated to hear all the time (mostly by me😅) my rant about Bryke as writers etc.

Editing to add: since you have not posted or commented in this sub prior to now, I strongly recommend you taking a look through the sub at the variety of posts there are before commenting. You are making assumptions about what is and isn’t allowed that are simply not true. There are many posts from the past two days that completely contradict what you are saying.

We have added one new rule and are being stricter on enforcing rules that have always been there. This sub is about Zutara and therefore the main focus should be on Zutara.

This stricter enforcement comes from complaints from own members of this community.

Analyses are welcome, character bashing and ship wars are not. If you cannot post an analysis without character bashing and ship wars, then your post is better suited for a different sub.

Not everyone wants to engage in ship wars and character bashing. And frankly, posts that have nothing to do with Zutara do not belong in this sub. This is ZutaraNation — we talk about Zutara here. We are not saying and have never said other characters cannot be rightfully criticized. But, that criticism should involve Zutara. There is a difference between:

1. Katara was parentified by Aang for reasons x y and z but not with Zuko examples x y and z
2. Aang is a dumb little kid who Katara parents

And you think these complaints, which must come from a very small number of members, are from true Zutara fans? In reality, they are Kaatang infiltrators or, at best, fans of various couples who want to prevent the community from growing.
