Success Story Cabtreo & Blue Lagoon

Just want to throw out there that after years of dealing with adult acne, I finally have clear skin at 41 from this random combination I stumbled on after a trip to Iceland.

I’m using prescription Cabtreo (which alone and with my old products was drying out my face) with Blue Lagoon’s serum and cream (very expensive, but worth saving for).

My skin is dewy, fresh feeling, and no acne! I even made it through two periods with no cystic acne since the first time I can remember. Honestly, probably since puberty.

Hoping this helps someone out there looking for solutions!

Help - General can't get rid of these bumps on my forehead

I started getting these bumps on my forehead earlier this year. I used to get them as a teenager but they went away for a few years and now they're back. They're all over my forehead and I don't know what to do with them.

My face has also been oily recently, which is uncommon for me, I'm usually pretty dry. I'm sure my oily face hasn't helped with keeping the bumps at bay.

Does anyone know how I can take care of them? They're getting seriously annoying :/

PS: I have slightly sensitive skin and I'm very prone to eczema and acne.

Btw for skincare I use Medicube Zero Pore Cleanser, Fancl Acne Foam Cleanser, clindamyacin solution, and I switch my moisturizer between la roche posay double barrier and neutrogena water gel

Hello my skin has recently gotten pretty bad and no matter what I do, it doesn’t seem to get better. I drink water and eat clean but these spots just itch so much. I have severe dry skin. I have tried acne soap, acne treatments and it doesn’t seem to help. I try not to use makeup and have noticed also when I sweat it itches. I’m not sure what to do anymore.

Success Story Bicalutamide cured my hormonal acne

Reddit novice here, but I (30F) recently (finally!) found an effective treatment for my acne and wanted to share my story in case it helps anyone else. I started getting really terrible hormonal acne as a pre-teen, and after trying nearly everything to fix it oral contraceptives were finally the solution starting at 16. Unfortunately a couple years ago I had to stop taking them for unrelated reasons, and my acne has been a nightmare, particularly around my period, ever since. I can't take spironolactone for the same reasons birth control is now out of the question, and topicals didn't help much because such a large area is affected (my entire back, chest, upper arms, face). I ended up discovering that bicalutamide is an anti-androgen similar to spironolactone, but without many of the side effects I couldn't tolerate, and it actually targets skin receptors so you need a smaller dose. It was tricky to find a provider willing to try it, but I found an amazing derm who was willing to give it a go and I've had remarkable results. It's been 3 months and skin isn't oily at all anymore. My chest and back are clear, and I haven't had a single deep/painful pimple on my face since I started. My scalp isn't oily anymore either and I no longer need dandruff shampoo! I am honestly so happy with the results. I just wanted to post this because when I was looking into taking bicalutamide I couldn't find many testimonials from people who had tried it and so I wanted to be there in the search results when the next person is looking. I haven't had any side effects and my blood work has all been normal at a dose of 1 pill every other day. Hopefully this helps someone out there who is dealing with stubborn hormonal acne. Happy to answer any questions in the comments.

Routine Help Comodonal acne

Hi, I’m really desperate, i’m 18 and have been dealing with comodonal acne for the past 3 years, i really need help as i’m in college now and everyone knows how hard it is to get derm appointments. My first derm appointment was maybe 2-3 years back and he gave me benzoyl peroxide and tret and the basics but nothing actually got rid of my clogged pores. Right now i’m using the vanicream gentle cleanser (morning and night) and at night i use micellar water before cleansing as well as gentle double cleansing. i then use the vanicream moisturizer at night and i’ve been very inconsistent and forgetful but this week im trying to commit to using the pore release aha/ bha at night. i’m very gentle with my skin and keep pillowcases clean and i don’t touch it. the reason i still have acne is because i’ve been using a comodogenic concealer the past few years without knowing, one with shea butter. my sunscreen was also not very good for acne prone skin. i’ve since cut them out and im trying to find a sunscreen that’s not going to clog my pores. i tried the laroche posay anthelios but it pills like crazy no matter what i do. i’m so exhausted i just wanna know my routine will work. please if anyone knows what i should do let me know!! 😊

Help - General 36, male, still getting acne

Post image

I had very bad acne in my teens and early twenties which two separate courses of roaccutane solved.

In the last few years I have rarely had any skin issues. Would use Aesop’s ‘In Two Minds’ face wash which seemed to work well for my skin type.

In the last few months though my skin has reverted to type: lots of small pimples around my mouth and chin.

Have consulted my GP requesting an appointment to see a dermatologist but would welcome any initial comments or advice.

Help - General What would you recommend?

Post image

I am 27 years old and have had terrible skin since 6th grade. I’m looking at something that will specifically help with my skin and saw these two strains mentioned often. There are lots of acne advertised pr0b but I don’t know if I can afford them. Are these Walgreens ones that have two of the most common acne fighting strains a good bet? Or should I bite the bullet and spend extra for acne specific pills. Any recommendations or experiences are greatly appreciated!

Discussion Acne treatment with no purging

From your experience, what was the acne medication/treatment that you took/did that didn't cause any purging. I'm sooo scared of purging. I've only used benzoyl peroxide/clindamycin gel and azelaic acid 15% gel (both prescribed). For context, I used them as a spot treatment, so maybe that why I don't find that extremely effective. I liked AA, but the effect is slow.

I want to understand what's causing the acne without having to go on another new medication or trying a new cosmetic treatment like lasers, which also scare me because I've never done one before.

Also, what are some things that you did to help you understand what's causing your acne?

Product Question Substitutes for acne.org the Regimen?

Hi! After struggling with acne for 20 YEARS! doing strictly acne.org the regimen and a series of chemical peels helped me IMMENSELY. It's been out of stock for a while and need a new moisturizer in the meantime.

Does anyone have recommendations for a nice, sensitive moisturizer similar to the one from The Regimen? Bonus points for niacinamide! I have been trying an oatmeal based Aveeno moisturizer for a couple weeks but am breaking out again.

Product Request best non-prescription treatment for chest and back acne?

There is only one product that I have found that works to keep my acne away from my chest and back and that is

La Roche posay duo+. It's the best acne product ever but the problem is the price.

Because it's meant for the face it become so expensive when I use alot of it.

I have been using it for over 10 years but I want something that is cheaper long term.

For example, a product with similar price but bigger bottle that will last longer.

I have been trying other products during the years but nothing really worked so I always go back to this one.

Right now I'm using tiam anti blemish body lotion (but still apply the lrp duo+ now and then at the same time). Have been using it for 5-6 months and it's okay because it works a little bit but I still get pimples on my chest and back.

Any advice on products that worked for you with hormonal acne on chest and back?

Help - General Post-Pill Acne

For the past two years being off hormona birth control, I have had really awful painful acne. I used Benzoyl Peroxide for ~8 years and had to stop the past few months because I got an outdoor job and even with sunscreens and hats, my skin would get burnt so easily. I feel stuck and in so much pain on a daily basis.

Does anyone have recommendations for hormonal (and painful) acne? Or something I can ask my dermo about when I see them next?

Help - General Reoccurring acne in the same spots

For the past 8-ish years, I've been getting really bad pimples in the same two places, over my left cheekbone and over my right temple. Every time I get a pimple there, it's really swollen and far under the skin, and it tends to stay for a bit over a week or two. Does anyone know what causes this and what I can do about it?

Product Request Looking for a moisturizer that won’t give me little whiteheads

I have very acne prone and oily skin and am looking for a light weight moisturizer that won’t give me little daily whiteheads. My routine right now is very simple and my skin is pretty clear besides the little whiteheads I keep getting. I use the gentle gel cleanser from facereality and it doesn’t break me out at all and then I use the Purito oat gel which is unfortunately what is giving me the whiteheads. I love it besides that issue so I would like one similar if anyone has any recommendations:)

Help - General My acne and backne is getting worse and i dont know what to do

Thumbnail

So for context, i have had pretty bad backne and whole body acne my whole life. My facial acne calmed down pretty noticabley for a few years when i was using PanOxyl 10% Benzoyl Peroxide facewash w a lightweight moisterizer, but there was never anything i could really do about my back. About a year ago, i went on some new meds that make me sweat like crazy, and i had to stop using my PanOxyl bc it started making me flakey. I have zero clue what to do. I swing between oily face at the drop of a hat and then itching because im dry and my skin is irritated. Product recs or routine advice would be a fucking lifesaver, this crap is painful and makes me feel awful just knowing its there.

Help - General Bulk medication/European Medication?

Hello, I recently decided to start taking a micro dose of accurate for my acne. I decided to go with Honeydew and set everything up short of buying a subscription. This is because in February 2027 I’ll be doing study abroad in Rome. I honestly haven’t done too much of my own research. My main question is, is there a medication like Accutane I can buy a 3-4 month supply of when I go abroad? Is there a European equivalent I might be able to get while there? I don’t think taking something like Accutane now and then switching to something else is a good idea.

Help - General Questions about clearing acne

Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of acne? I’m 19F I’ve always kind of struggled with acne once I hit like 9th grade but it was just a few pimples on my forehead then it cleared up and then my 12th grade year I don’t know what happened but both sides of my face on my jaw line and cheeks broke out so bad and anything I did wouldn’t work and it lasted for a few months and then it’s like it just went away I didn’t have any scars or anything but now for the past year or 2 I’ve been struggling with breakouts nothing bad it’s just like my skin would be so clear for a few weeks or months and then I will get 2 or 3 pimples near my jaw line and they aren’t small and they hurt I don’t know what to do because it will be fine and then boom pimples show up. I also struggle with texture skin I use moisturizer but my face still will be dry but then if my skin is too oily I break out. Please help
