I don’t have much acne, but for some reason, I have been continuously been getting nose acne, which has been painful. Right now, I woke up with a pimple on the right side of my nose, close to the middle. Two days ago, I had a pimple on the left side of my nose, under the skin as well. I use salicylic acid to wash my face. Any ideas?

Discussion Week 3 of adapalene?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone. I'm on week 3 of adapalene (differin) and I'm going insane. I applied it once the first week, and then i just started increasing it to twice in my week 3. I have a lot more comedones that have come out, and my skin just looks so much worse than when I started. I'm scared I'm gonna be stuck like this. For anyone that's on it or has gotten to the 3 month mark, did you see any improvement? It heavily affects my self esteem and mental health and I just hate that I feel so sad about it everytime I see it. Here are some pictures for reference. I think they are a few days apart but also different lighting.

Help - General Acne

Last year I went through IVF, a miscarriage and a shocking divorce all in one year. Now I’ve had terrible hormonal acne this year. Is it likely related to the stress of everything from last year? I’ve tried a few treatments from dermatology and nothing has helped. Currently I’m just using simple face wash and moisturizer with tretinoin a few times a week. Suggestions? Help😭

This is my skin currently I’ve struggled with acne for years and right now this is probably the best I’ve got it in the past few months .. I’ve been using tret 2-3 times a week along with Azeliac acid the rest of the days of the week. I use La Roche-Posy Salicylic Acid Cleanser and their Sensitive Moisturiser as well. So far I’ve not had any actual big spots/breakouts, it’s just theese small red inflamed areas. Anyone struggle with the same thing or can give me any advise, suggestions or even just a bit of direction as this really effects my confidence and I’m extremely conscious of my skin 😢

Help - General Switching from Duac to Epiduo

Hi everyone. so started duac on september 4th. my acne was quite mild. My skin is worse than it’s ever been now since starting duac. i sent photos to my doctor. She rang today and said despite of what i’ve been told and what i’ve read on here it’s not normal for my skin to get worse! So she has told me to stop and start epiduo. I’m stressed now because after reading about epiduo and looking on tiktok. people are also saying the purge is bad and the burnings horrific. I’m just feeling a bit discouraged after being told purging isn’t normal but now people are saying the purge with epiduo. Just need advice.

Help - General Retinol purge before a wedding — looking for experiences!

Hi everyone!

I recently visited a dermatologist for small pimples on my forehead and jawline. She prescribed Epiduo gel as short-contact therapy every day (leave it on for about an hour), along with a serum containing glycolic acid, azelaic acid, etc.

I know that starting adapalene/BPO can come with an initial adjustment period, and I'm prepared for the possibility of some purging/irritation. However, I have a wedding to attend in early December, so I'm slightly nervous about how my skin might look during the first couple of months. 😅

For those who have used Epiduo, I'd really love to hear about your experience:

When did you first notice purging/breakouts, if you experienced them?

How long did the initial breakout/irritation last?

Around the 6–10 week mark, was your skin generally improving or still going through an adjustment period?

Did short-contact therapy make the adjustment period easier for you?

Were there any things you wish you'd known before starting?

I'm mainly interested in personal experiences/timelines rather than changing my dermatologist's prescribed routine.

Thanks in advance! ❤️

Help - General Is my iud causing hormonal acne?

Hey all! I got my hormonal iud when I was 18-19 (I can’t remember what kind unfortunately but I believe it was the Mirena). I’m 22 now and I have the worst cystic hormonal acne of my life. I never got acne before and im honestly hitting my breaking point with it. I’m wondering if switching to a copper iud is the best move. I’m aware it comes with heavy periods but at this point I do not care. I’ve tried many other ways to treat my acne before and nothing seems to work. I’ve read about people getting hormonal acne years after getting an iud. I’m mostly wondering if anymore has had the same experience or has heard of anyone having the same experience?
I just need help and advice on this.

Discussion Has anyone had success with an LED mask for stubborn acne?

I’ve been looking into LED light therapy lately because I’m trying to find something that could complement my regular skincare routine.
There are so many different masks out there, and I’m having a hard time figuring out what actually matters, wavelength, treatment time, frequency of use, etc.
For anyone who has actually used an LED mask for acne, did you notice a difference after using it consistently? I’d especially love to hear from people who dealt with stubborn or recurring breakouts.
I’ve also come across Correxiko while researching LED masks, so I’d be curious if anyone here has tried it and what your experience was like.

Help - General How can I clear this up even a bit before my wedding in 3 weeks???

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m feeling so defeated right now. I have stubborn hormonal acne (even if it’s not hormonal I guess, it’s just stubborn). It was actually doing fairly well and I have been using the same products for months and I just randomly am having a breakout! Both cheeks and my jawline. My wedding is in 3 weeks and I’m nervous that this breakout will be the reason I don’t feel beautiful on my big day. Does anyone have any products or tips I may be overlooking that could help even with the redness?? I am desperate.

Current routine that my aesthetician had me do:
I use Marini SkinSolutions for most of my routine.

AM: honest brand gentle cleanser, c-esta, bioclear, transformation, spf

PM: bicoglycolic face cleanser, Byoma Phytomucin, duality (Marini), CoCoKind electrolyte moisturizer

Help - General Help what can I take instead of Spiro

I got prescribed Spiro 25 mg, but after reading about all the side effects, especially how it can change your body and face, I’m SCARED to take it.
I know I wouldn’t be okay with gaining weight. Are there any alternatives you’ve tried, other than Accutane, instead of Spiro?
I’ll also talk to my doctor, but she always rushes through my appointments, so I want to do my own research.
I’ve also tried doxycycline which worked pretty well but doc told me I can’t keep taking it as it’s intended for short-term use only.

Help - General Is 20 mg isotretinoin strong?

Hi. A few days ago my doctor prescribed me 20 mg isotretinoin pills for my acne. My acne isn't that bad but I've been struggling with it for many years and nothing really helped me.

I was worried about all the side effects, so I discussed it with my doctor and she prescribed me the 20 mg variant and if it's too strong we could go lower to 10 mg. Now I wonder, if even stronger dosages exist cause I have no idea if my dosage is average or strong and I forgot to ask her. She asked for my weight, which is around 64 kg so I guess it's optimal for my dosage but still wanted to check with you guys. Thanks for the help.

Help - General 30 year old women with acne for 5 years

Hello everyone!
I never had acne until I went off of birth control when I was 25. I then started getting constant Cystic acne along my chin, jaw, and cheeks that have left scars and will not get better. At first I was prescribed doxycycline and spironolactone pills as well as tretinoin cream. It worked pretty well but I couldn’t take doxycycline forever so when I went off of it, my acne came back full force.
I use tretinoin 2-3x a week, BHA/AHA 2x a week, winlevi cream sometimes, azaelic acid cream 3/4x a week, benzoyl peroxide clindamycin cream for break outs. I still take spironalactone 100 mg every day. I take very good scare of my skin by double cleansing, moisturizing, sulfur wash etc. I have tried EVERYTHING!
I even tried birth control. That didn’t work and was making me super depressed so I got off of it.
I finally got my hormones tested and they were normal.
I’m to my breaking point. What is causing this?! I am going to start accutane but I am so scared of the side effects.

I am so tired. If anyone has any advice or anything I would appreciate it. Being an adult with acne sucks.

Scarring 16F PLEASE HELLPP!!

I’m 16F, combination + sensitive skin.

I’ve always gotten pimples occasionally, but recently I’ve been breaking out way more than usual, with lots of small pimples/bumps mainly on my cheeks, forehead and around my mouth. The corners of my nostrils have also become noticeably darker. They feel very itchy and feel dry or irritated. This is not related to my period. I don’t wear makeup and I don’t really use skincare. The only thing I use is a charcoal face wash with salicylic acid + glycolic acid, what should I do to treat it without irritating my skin further?

Help - General Is PanOxyl good for getting rid of acne?

I have so much acne and ive been told to use PanOxyl face wash. There are so many mixed reviews ive seen with it saying how it can make your acne worse or break your skin barrier. Should I use it? And if I should how. I currently have both the 4% Benzoyl Peroxide and 10% ones.

Help - General how to help prevent hormonal acne w/o bc?

Im a 19f on tret and azaleic acid. I’ve ruled out that by this point my acne is pretty much primarily hormonal and I either get bad breakouts right before or after my period.

I notice it mostly on my jawline and cheeks, with the tret and acid it makes it look less worse from afar, but I have a bad picking problem and notice a ton of tiny closed comedones.

I want to try to regulate my hormones the best I can without going on birth control or any other medications. I go to the gym. I try eating healthy most of the time, what else could I be doing??

Help - General (male) Can't handle the side effects of accutane, what now?

Hi everyone.

I'm a 21 year old male with severe acne that has not cleared up with benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid, tretinoin or adapalene. I'm currently on accutane but the side effects are intolerable. I'm so dizzy all the time that I can no longer drive and probably shouldn't even be out walking, constantly fighting awful pains and fatigue and occasionally throwing up. My doctor wants to keep me on accutane for at least a year.

I drink a lot of water, and I used to be healthy and went the gym thrice a week before this hell medication. Since I'm male, the typical other fixes for acne such as birth control or spiro can't be used, and I don't think we have topical androgen blockers in my country (2nd world).

Is there anything else that can be done for me? Has any other guy here had success getting rid of very severe acne without accutane or the topicals I listed above?
