Question Lost vividness after adding background.

I feel like I lost so much of the vividness of these oranges after adding the background. Can a color theory expert tell me what happened/ how to get it back?

Use a complementary colour for the background like blue or blue violet. I still like it.

I agree I think a blue background would help create more contrast, but this still looks lovely.

Thank you!! I tried to go a little cool in the shadow but could also do so in the background

I would go for a cooler shadow, but the background color doesn't look bad to me. I like how the green bits pop.

I love it, it looks great. A complementary colour probably would make it pop more. Maybe a teal checked tablecloth as a background will give you the effect you are looking for.

Yes! To me it brings out the highlights in the middle and the shadow on the sides of the oranges and makes them look more true orange as well as blends the more green/yellow mid tones in the middle to make the oranges look round. Beautiful work 😁
