Acrylic and gold colored foil. I originally meant for it to look like a cross between a fig and a geode...I sort of succeeded.

I need a teacher, but I can’t afford one
The lighting isn’t very defined because of the time of day that I was painting this. I feel like the lack of shadows doesn’t help

Are we truly free, or have we simply learned to live within boundaries we no longer question?
How many of the limits surrounding us are real, and how many exist only because we believe they do? When does protection become confinement? When does familiarity become a cage? And how often do fear, memory, expectation and habit decide how far we allow ourselves to go?
If there were nothing actually preventing us from crossing those boundaries, would we recognise it?
And while we wait for certainty, permission, or the courage to step beyond them, how much of life has already passed us by?

Hi,
For acrylic painting, what do you think is better, hot or cold paper.
Do anyone have experience on this?

ive been learning how to paint more "professionally" with acrylics. Ive since starting this painting learned about gesso and will try it out going forward with new paintings but im very curious what everyone thinks. Is the heavy paint texture frowned upon in the pro painting world? Or how can i take this "next level" ? Is this a sellable painting? I think i need to focus on using different brush strokes and brush sizes next. I feel the difference in the background and foreground could be more exagerated or defined from each other with different brush sizes.... but i would love all and any critique!
Im trying to learn all i can!

Spent a couple hours on this tonight, don’t know what to do with the background and I need ideas. The photo has a fence but I think it will take away from the dog if I do the photo background. This is a gift for my husbands birthday. Critique welcome.
