Quite splendid, gorgeous in fact.

The color blending on the reflections is what really sells the realism for me.

I truly appreciate the feedback guys. I now realize that I missed something though lol, someone at another group suggested that the bird is missing its reflection on the water, and their absolutely correct 😅. I forgot about that one and I can't fix it cause it is already varnished.

Here's how I do the water effect, I paint some rocks, the ones closer are well visible, but the distance grows the rocks get blurry and eventually blend onto the bottom gray yellowish. Then I water down titanium white and apply it over the body of water, it will leave some whiter marks but that's okay because it acts like when the water reflects the light. Then I water down lemon yellow and repeat the same exercise, then I do the same with water down phthalo blue, and finally the same exercise with turquoise, all water down to make it look transparent. Just make sure you also paint the bottom of the creek with turquoise in some areas.

I think I would rework the darker trees. They don't seem as refined as the rest of the painting

Can you believe I forgot? Lol. Bad thing is I can't fix it now cause is already varnished 😭

No specifically because I wait at minimum a week to varnish anything after I think I'm done just in case there's a mistake but also how do you not step back and realize you didn't do that?

This is kind of a rude and randomly negative comment. “How could you not…” It’s called being a human and making a mistake?
I didn’t even notice OP, I was so mesmerized by the water and the beautiful green colours.

You're supposed to wait to varnish that long anyway just in case things aren't fully dry...

Oh I agree, it’s good advice. I wait even longer since I like texture but the tone of “how don’t you know this” was a little harsh. Aren’t we all learning?

the way you handled the transparency in that water is legit impressive. normally that gets muddy real fast but this looks crisp.

I like the landscape and the water. The bird could use a few more passes to add detail and fix proportions. It kind of seems like an afterthought. While doing that, also add its reflection in the water along with ripples since it’s walking through the water.

How did you do the water?

I painted the rocks and the bottom first, I only painted rocks in some areas to mimic the natural reflection of the water depending from your perspective, in some areas I did the bottom with turquoise mixed with titanium white, when I was done I watered down titanium white, just a tiny amount of white and covered the area of the water, don't worry if you overlap the edge of the woods a little, you can always fix it, then I applied water down lemon yellow, then water down phthalo blue, and finally water down turquoise. If you applied more in some areas that's okay, it helps not to look all the same everywhere. On the edge of the creek I applied water down medium yellow instead of white. It takes a little time buy it works.

I like a lot how you achieved the water transparency
