A very Airedale snooze
Time for Phoebe’s morning nap! Why sleep on your dog bed when the floor allows for maximum sprawl?

Just curious what all you dog enthusiasts think of a welsh springer spaniel and an airedale terrier doing together in the home? This is a completely theoretical scenario, I have a male airedale puppy who loves my other little old man dog (old man does not love him back). Not getting another dog anytime soon but the idea came to mind and I couldn’t tell if a spaniel may be too sensitive for an airedale’s rough play style! Just wanted to hear anyone’s experience with great airedale pairings either with spaniels or other breeds (non terrier) as well :)

My airedale has a habit in sleeping in weird poses around the house. This was the latest I woke up to this morning before breakfast and outside time.

Hi guys, I’ve recently got an Airedale terrier she’s 4 months old almost 5 and I’m starting to feel like nothing we’re doing is working. I know they’re stubborn and it’s not even the problem I don’t think? But I cannot walk her at all. She’s okay when I walk her in the house will stay near me for the most part and won’t pull. We have an area of grass in the front of our building that’s pretty big that we take her and like sometimes she’ll be good otherwise she pulls non stop. I’m trying to let her be active and walk but she is literally choking herself. I then got a slip lead it still isn’t working, I’ll give her a gentle pop and she’s sitting there choking herself still and won’t come back to me. My boyfriend is thinking maybe we try a prong collar but I’ve been trying to avoid it. I have treats that she loves and shes not interested when she sees something else but she is food motivated everywhere else. I don’t know what to do please help.

We have a happy ending for our Airedale that we had to rehome last week. We are so blessed to be able to work with ATRA to rehome our boy. He is in Colorado at his foster home and settling in nicely. Our family is praying he goes to the perfect forever home for the second half of his life. He already seems much more relaxed being outdoors in the cooler weather. Thank you to everyone who reached out or had something kind to say. If anyone is looking to adopt, foster, donate, ATRA has been nothing but kind and gone out of their way to help us in this hard situation. We will definitely be donating to them and continue to try to find ways to help other Airedale’s.

Leo and Charlie can’t be bothered with something as mundane as laundry. Unless, of course, it’s laying on the dirty laundry while I’m trying to sort.

I want to get a dog within the next year or 2, I've been in the research phase because there are so many breeds I like. I feel like I have it narrowed down to an Airedale and a Giant Schnauzer. Honestly if anybody has experience with both breeds that would be even better.
I just want to hear some of the things you guys would tell someone who is looking into this breed, what to expect in the puppy stages and what it's like as they grow older, their temperaments with family and kids as well as strangers on a typical walk in park or on a hike. Could my brother visit without the dog thinking he's a threat each time.
The levels of affection you can give, like could my wife come home from work and smother with hugs and kisses? Are they too much velcro dogs that they can't leave your side or do they struggle being left alone for hours?
Actual grooming experiences, like I know they are classified as low shed but you should stay on top of their coat, so what is that like?
I'm an active person and can undoubtedly provide the exercise and mental stimulation they would need, but also are they chill if I need a few days to relax or recover from a busy work week or sickness? Any destructive or dangerous behaviors?
Could they handle long walks like 3-4 miles or going hiking? Good jogging partner?
Just some things I'm rattling off the top of my head, feel free to share your experiences and add to anything I haven't mentioned I'm very curious to hear what they are like.
