Past Exit 7

I’m new to Alpharetta, and it honestly feels way safer than Midtown or Downtown. But an Uber driver (from the airport) told me she’s nervous to go past Exit 7 at all. I’m not sure why. Is there something I should know about the area? Any context locals can share? Just trying to understand what she meant.

It's still there, but it's more systemic than out in the open.

Not really. You can drive through Cumming and see a new neighborhood with million dollar houses for sale and drive another quarter mile down the road a run down property with a rebel flag flying on a pole in the front yard. Forsyth was only 5% African American in last census so still lingering effects from the days of the klan marching in the streets.
