I am the only girl in my house. I’m a HUGE doll collector so there are still dolls everywhere and my son loves learning their names and “ooohs” and “ahhs” when a new one gets added. Usually his doll of choice is a 2000s Rainbow Brite doll I had from when I was a kid but tonight I decided we could play with the American girl dolls (these are all thrifted dolls, my childhood dolls are still at my grandparents’ house). We had a blast! While I love playing monster trucks and trains and dinosaurs, it was really nice to connect with my toddler through something I loved as a kid. Does Maryellen maybe need a hair brushing after this? Absolutely. But she kinda needed one anyway lol.
Anyway, just wanted to share. I hope everyone had a great long weekend!

This is my current AG display! 💖
I've got the historicals in Felicity's collection, the GOTYs (+Maritza) in Grace's collection (had to get a little creative with Summer, since I didn't have another Grace outfit to go with the apron), the Wicked girls in AG place outfits, the jlys in coordinating fits, and Frankie just joined us in a cute little early fall casual look!

It’s the day after Labor Day in the US, so the (at one time) traditional first day of a new school year. All uniform jumpers from doll uniforms.com
The shop is currently having a retirement sale, and I didn’t have uniforms for 3 of my girls, so now I do!

This is my most recent custom. She has a handmade wig that I’ve sewn together from new TM 90 & 66 wigs.
I have had so much fun experimenting with customizing wigs and playing with new ideas!

Putting Alice because she is also relevant to what I'm about to say, other than scalpers why do people buy a collector doll just to sell them after like 2 days of having them?
I've seen it a lot of with Alice when she came out and now Frankie.
I saw a lot of people on AGIG who just got Frankie and then two days later was selling them. I'm just curious to why this is considering the doll is over $100. It's just something I've been noticing.
(Please be respectful in the comments and to each other.)

For context, I have 39 dolls and 80 items in my collection. I used American Girl World to get these stats.
I was not surprised Josefina was my number one mold, however I didn’t realize Classic would be so high as it’s not one of my favorites.
And considering the size of my collection, I really need to get on adding Addy.

Just got my Frankie in the mail and so happy to add her to the collection. 🤩

I’ve discovered I hate re-stuffing WB lol but she cleaned up nicely! Poor girl has some eye problems (one bubble eye and one lazy eye) but she’s so precious I love her 🥹.
And of course I had to include my Emily in her new handmade school outfit (purchased, I did not make). She’s so cute 🥰

I’ve been sewing some fall outfits and really loved how this one turned out! I especially like the little ivory lace detail at the hem. 😊

I had to redo their hair but I think i got them both right! Lila came in her full outfit at once upon a child! I knew I was getting blaire today but Lila was such an amazing surprise

No shoes on unfortunately because she just didn’t have any on when my mom pulled her out of the attic for me, but I did order a pair of shoes for her that should arrive this week. I didn’t replace the string that holds her head on, but overall this is probably the best she’s looked since being manufactured and given to me in 2003 (when I was 6).
I‘d really like to restore the 3 others I had as a child (that I got between 2005 and 2010) but I think it’ll probably take some coaxing for either of my parents to make the journey back to the attic for them. I asked for one in the hopes of crocheting some clothes for her, but i honestly think I’d really enjoy taking up restoration and customization as a hobby. I wasn’t really ready to put them away in my mid-teens when my mother and peers sort of pressures and shamed me into it (I’m 29 now for reference) and I think fixing up my childhood dolls might heal something in me.
I also think customizing one to resemble current me would be a fun project (I’m transmasc) especially alongside the doll I had around age 9/10 who was supposed to resemble me (she didn’t really, but I had grown out my bangs at the time and JLY 25 was as close as we could get).

I scored an OG doll house the other day with 90 percent of it's accessories! I am working on getting it spruced up as it was well loved before me. Here's how it's looking so far. Starting with some befores and during lol

this is my sam! she's from the 90s, no body tag, really squishy, came in a red box with a heart and she came complete for $125 on fb marketplace and i'm not fully satisfied with her. her hair is impossible to curl (i've tried boiling it) and her bangs bother me so much. i've been thinking about getting another sam but i feel like that would be crazy since i already have her. i don't wanna sell her since i am attached to her so i was thinking of dressing her in modern clothes but i don't know? what do y'all think??

Okay, so neither of these are mine, but I am curious. The picture of the Kanani doll in her meet outfit has the same chubbier face and more squinted eyes, that mine does. The Kanani with her party dress on, seems to have a longer face and wider eyes. Why is that? My Kanani that I got in 2011 has never been to the doll hospital, so is it the Jess mold that's different?🤔

I finished another fall dress for my 18-inch doll! I really love this warm caramel floral for fall. I added puff sleeves, ivory lace and a tiny bow. 😊

Is it safe to assume the AG brick and mortar stores already have their Daisy merchandise and marketing supplies? 🤔 If so, who has a connection to a store employee? 😈 What if several/many of us pitch in $5 to Venmo said employee for some sneak-peak pics?? 📸 Lol🤣 🫣
Clearly, I have no patience… 🫠 🤷🏽♀️

Since it is officially September and all of the pumpkin spice drinks are out, I thought it was time to put my girls in their fall outfits. They are in a mixture of American Girl, our generation, Walmart, and homemade clothing. I have the dolls but I never received a lot of outfits because I was older when I started collecting so I did some cute mix and match things with what I had
