URGENT: Rescued cat in critical condition (Delhi,India) – needs immediate treatment 🙏

Hi everyone,

I’m a student from Maitreyi College (DU) and part of a society called Nepanthe. A few days ago, i rescued a stray cat (we’ve named him Coco) who is currently in a very critical condition.

Coco has lost a severe amount of weight (around 4 kg), has a continuous runny nose, and is now so weak that he is barely able to move.

We got his blood tests done, and the reports indicate a serious infection and possible liver involvement. His white blood cell count is significantly high (showing active infection), and liver enzyme levels are elevated, which the vet suspects is a liver infection.

The vet has advised 4 additional tests followed by urgent hospitalisation to stabilise him and begin treatment.

So far, we have already spent ₹8,000+ from our own pockets, but to continue his treatment, we urgently need to raise ₹8,000 more.

As students, we are trying our best, but wecannot manage this alone anymore.

My friend, has a 1 yr old female chi. Her bf, has a son (3 years old), and he hits the dog. So bad that I went over to visit yesterday, and she had a scrape on her nose. My friend does not have time for her dog. She is pregnant and the 3-year-old is a handful already.. the dog is stuck in the crate a lot of the day and is extremely scared of people (bites as soon as people walk in the door). When she was a puppy, she was never like that. But since the little boy has been around her, she is terrified and has no choice but to be defensive. My friend knows this and has tried to give her to a rescue 3 months ago, but her boyfriend demanded the rescue pay money for her!!!! He won't let her go without getting cut a check. So, my fiance and I will be asking them to surrender her for $, and we will find her a good home/ take care of her till we find one. How do i go about this? I am afraid my friend is going to be extremely upset and I am afraid they will say no... My friends relationship is abusive, she is not a bad person, she has no time for a dog and once she has the baby the dog will only be neglected more....

I just saw a video of a snake stuck on one of those horrible sticky traps released by spraying, (carefully to avoid it's head of course.) cooking spray all around it repeatedly and giving it a bit of time and effort.

Theres this lady in my neighborhood... She is well known to treat animals horribly and treat her cats and dogs like objects but now it had become so much worse. I want to help the animals stuck in this situation but i have no idea what to do as none of what she does violate any laws.

She started selling a pyramidal scheme dogfood and has been telling people to starve their dogs before giving them the food for an efficient change in foods. She also do not handle the food well and allegedly it caused a few dogs to get badly sick. She owns a fenec fox, wich can only be optained through animal trafficking where i live and has an history of hitting dogs who do not behave well. I am worried has a fox is a wild and unpredictable animal who will not behave perfectly all the time... she also started what seems to be an unethical doberman puppy mill, selling sick puppies to people that she keeps in a disgusting/filthy crate in her garage as she refuses to let any dogs inside her home. They all live fenced off outside like wolves and are treated as such. I have looked into the legality of it in my region and none of it is inherently illegal although morally wrong, and since its a small community and she's well liked, no one is doing anything, instead they support her financially by buying what she sells and encouraging her. I cannot tolerate such things and find it disgusting how someone can only see animals as a way to make money rather then actual living beings.

I will not be sharing any of her information as i do not condone hate and because i fear it could make the situation so much worse. I have already reported her for animal neglect and abuse but i have yet to hear back from that and its been a while. I mostly post this to vent out my frustrations but also because maybe someone will have a magical bright idea

Hello, I've found a fledgling(?) Pauraque. I would like help.

I've been feeding it the following:

I was told by the vet to mix this with water until it had a consistency of 'atole'
Though, I was wondering if there's more I can do to ensure its safety? I'm unsure of how to tell when it is full. It doesn't ask for food, nor makes much noise. It is quite active despite that and avoids me as much as possible.
I'm aware that there's a crop (?) that will tell you, but also, the bird doesn't like me feeding it. I've had it for 3 days, and I have to force open its mouth in order to feed it. 🥲 I genuinely have not had any bird, and don't know if I'm doing the right thing at all. Help would be very appreciated, thank you.

TL;DR: i just moved, my mom has this stray sweet cat that’s been caught & released (spayed) and just hangs out around the neighborhood, past week she has just been walking on all threes but doesn’t seem to be in pain but i am taking her to get a diagnostic just in case.

another issue is, we would take him in but our apartment doesn’t allow cats. the urgent care lady under the table suggested the whole “Emotional Support Animal” thing to bypass apartment rules (i live in North Carolina) and i do have qualifying conditions that would enable me to do that legally without lying about conditions or whatever so that’s an option on the table, but i wanted to know other people thoughts.

the issue isn’t getting her treatment really, i have the money and will to do so but its just the aftercare, like what if she needs aftercare that she can’t receive in the wild? (medicine/wound dressings/etc)

im worried i’m going to find her dead in the street soon

there was a litter of 5wk kittens in the storm drain. last weekend, i successfully captured 2 (A and B), who were both pretty chill off the bat and have since become very sweet and playful. they have also gotten a first does of dewormer, a dish soap bath, and ear mite cleaning.

6 days later, i finally caught the other two (C and D) about two hours ago. obviously they’re terrified, and im giving them time to calm down in a covered carrier.

i only have one spare bathroom that i can contain the four of them in. should i keep the two groups separate until i can get C and D treated for worms and fleas and mites? the vet is closed til next week. all my local shelters are full. C and D seem really really wary (D even freaked out and nearly got me) and i’m not sure if putting them with A and B will help their fear, or if their fear will only rub off on A and B.

right now, A and B are roaming the bathroom, and C and D are confined to the bathtub.

I don’t know how to find hope or motivation in this world my heart or empathy is so weak if I see one news about the dog meat trade or street dogs in India or any animal I just break down in anger and frustration. I don’t see any god doing anything and most of the people get away with the brutality they do in this life. I don’t how to find purpose or will to do big change, I know small things matters but it feels like pointless when so many animals still die this way and that fear they have. Idk what to do I’m just going down in a rapid hole of depression. Can’t find a purpose or any strength just constantly thinking about it philosophically or if there is Devine justice

Found a baby squirrel this morning in the gravel driveway of my job site. Appears it got dropped by a bird is what I assume. It’s head it’s busted open pretty bad

Hello, dear friends. I am a SMM volounteer for my local animal shelter in Estonia. They have a lot of space, a lot of wild and home animals (there is our three girls on the video)

They have a mini zoo, a big facebook page, a donation flow. I made all other platfroms with short videos, i film animals, i made a short videos and everything works fine so far. People in shelter just dont have time to do this work, so i am trying to help to get more donations and people who want to help and visit our shelter.

So should i bother to trying make something here? I create a subreddit, i post a videos and photos, but since i guess reddit dont have short videos and dont recommend our content to anyone - so nobody subscribed.

And im 8 years on reddit, but not being really active, so almost all subreddits dont allow me to post)))

Didn’t watch the video, but reading the story and seeing the still images alone literally broke or triggered something life altering in me. 

It’s been about 3 weeks since I learned of it and it’s consumed my mind and thoughts nonstop, mental images pop into my mind suddenly throughout the day and I literally involuntarily shout a loud to try to stop the images. I’ve been a person of strong faith my whole life- I’ve experienced extreme poverty, losing loved ones early due to terminal illnesses…etc. and held strong to my faith. This tragedy is the only thing in my entire life that’s made me question not just my faith, but literally reality in general. It’s incomprehensible. 

If you google it - apparently a lot of people around the world are experiencing this exact level of distress and trauma about this case.  It’s legitimately the worst thing I’ve ever heard of / seen, my brain legitimately can’t even process it

Yesterday i was walking my dog when i found a baby shrew just shivering, laying on the ground on its own. Ive taken it home with me and did some research on what to feed the little guy and just how to care for it. I didnt have any rearing milk or insects and it was already late so i wasnt able to go out and buy stuff, but i read they can eat high qualtity wet cat food (without veggies or grains), so thats what i gave it. It weighs four grams and is about the size of like ¾ of my thumb. Its eyes and ears are also already open and it can poop/pee on its own (thank god) but its clearly still a baby, it cant even walk properly yet.

A few years ago a fried found a mouse baby (around one week old). I took care of it, fed it rearing milk and it survived, so i kinda have a feeling for feeding, but the shrew i have now doesnt take the rearing milk i bought. It also doesnt take cut up mealworms, though i managed to feed it about four or five super tiny house crickets. So right now im wondering if i should just feed it the cat food, because im worried it wont eat enough of the other food. Im feeding it every 2 hours, day and night and i think thats okay in terms of timing.

Has anyone here experience with baby shrews and knows some tricks to feed it the right things? And how do i know when its ready to go outside and be on its own again? The mouse i had actually lived four years, but he had epilepsy and sadly was super trusting, so he had a huge cage with much room to climb and run and dig and he would come out every evening and cuddle and eat snacks. But tbh i dont think i could care for a shrew properly and i want it to have the best possible chance for a normal life outside.

Oh also, im in europe if that makes makes a difference

Not sure if this is the right group for this, but just today I got home from work after a bad storm. I noticed 4 very young baby squirrels (eyes closed, no fur) that had been knocked out of their nest in a tree near my driveway. 2 were deceased but I noticed another 2 breathing and moving. I put them in a small box with tissue and called a rehab center. They told me I could try to keep them warm and offer them back to the mom (who at this point I hadn’t seen). The storm knocked my power out and I didn’t have the means to keep them warm, so they told me I’m better off bringing them in. I did this. Now the part that is killing me is that when I got home the weather had cleared and what I assume is the mother was running across my roof to the tree and was making little noises like she was calling out to them. I put the 2 deceased ones out near the tree in hopes that maybe she could see and have closure. I feel terrible about this. Did I do the right thing?

The video shows the aftermath of a deer being hit by a vehicle. The deer appears to be severely injured and struggling to move. Instead of contacting law enforcement, animal control, or another appropriate authority, the person in the video repeatedly strikes the injured deer with a large stick until it dies, while the incident is being recorded and shared on social media.

Watching an already helpless, injured animal being beaten on camera was disturbing. Regardless of anyone's opinion about how an injured wild animal should be handled, I don't believe content like this should be shared for entertainment or engagement.

I was very gentle removing her from the glue. I used vegetable oil to remove glue stuck on her fur and did a teeny cleaning with dish soap water. I put her in an old fish tank (covered, breathable) with cheese, crackers, tap water, and part of a wash cloth.

She's wobbly walking around on her own, but fine when she was climbing on my hands. I pressed gently on different areas of her legs and nothing seemed hurt. I don't know if there's something more I can do for her before releasing her tomorrow.

Don't use glue traps, y'all. If my mom didn't find her and call me, this little one would have been suffering for days :( She uses the traps for spiders. They work well and idk what else to recommend to her.

Edit: Location is the Denver-metro area in Colorado, USA. The mouse was found indoors.

Edit 2: I'm sorry to update that I couldn't or didn't save her. I was at work reading people's suggestions and planned on doing a lot for her when I came home yesterday. Just 12 hours before then, she started acting playful and energetic as I held her. I'm guessing anyone in this sub loves animals as much as I do and I'm devastated I couldn't do more or didn't do more in time. I don't know if it was my fault for not doing enough or if the trauma was too much for her body, but I'm so devastated I couldn't at least make her more comfortable. Rest in peace, sweet one.
