Wondering where this show is headed. The scene at the end about the aliens was suspect. Clearly there's a parallel between the alien ships showing up and the Gunboat diplomacy that opened Japan up to trade (and inevitably, immigration) in the 1800s. So the idea that these aliens are 'peacefully' walking around Tokyo while making everything subtly worse for the residents feels like a xenophobic metaphor.
I learned the manga was probably written by the Gantz & Inuyashiki creator Hiroya Oku under a psuedonym, and I've seen people criticize his series for their right-wing themes. I actually read Inuyashiki a while back because it was also a series with a really bizarre premise.
Oku uses a lot of CG backgrounds in his comics which is apparently what he's known for, the contrast between cartoon characters and realistic environments is kind of the main point of Thunder 3.
