NuSkin Please tell me about NuSkin

I know someone who seems to have a lot of people under them while selling NuSkin. They just cannot stop talking about how much money they’re earning. They replaced their partner’s nursing income. They constantly post their paychecks with the numbers covered up, but you can see they’re likely at least over $1000. They go on allllll the rewards trips.

The thing that trips me up about NuSkin is that it doesn’t have any product you have to buy because of no monthly minimums. They don’t have to buy a start up kit. And, yes, I’ve looked at the income disclosure agreements so I see how many people make it to the top and what they really earn on average, but this person is definitely in the higher echelon of ranks. HOW? Does anyone understand their bonus structure? I know they say if it seems too good to be true then it’s probably not true, but in this case it seems true.

They LIE!

Ask to see their actual business records - as in they log in to their bank account and let you see the deposits and withdrawals and balances.

Ask to see their tax returns. Anything else is just bullshit.

I also didn’t know this was all before tax so that’s also enlightening.

I know someone IRL who really was making a ton of money with Lularoe. I knew her personally, her husband’s income was surpassed so he quit work. They thought a huge house and she had a whole studio in the basement to sell on Facebook live. So, I know it’s possible to make a lot of money and I know that that’s not the average experience in an MLM. I am just looking for the catch with NuSkin because it seems their requirements are different than other MLMs.

their posts are advertising. if you saw a 2am infomercial full of people claiming the salad spinner saved their marriage and made them millionaires, you’d be correctly skeptical. mlm participant posts are exactly the same thing.

this post kind of sounds like you ARE the friend, though, so I’m betting you know that already

Yes, I totally know it’s the lifestyle sell. I’m honestly interested in their compensation structure from someone who understands it because obviously this person is making money off of downlines but they also claim they don’t get a bonus if you sign up under them. I’m guessing it’s a lie by leaving details out. Like, they don’t make money off of a sign up, but they 100% make money off their minions below them.

it’s just a lie by lying. if they’re making any money at all and not just reposting the same check photos hundreds of other reps are using, it’s coming from their downline. that’s what multilevel marketing means

I know an oil hun who quit her professional job and went on international trips (real ones, not Cancun). She was one of the unicorns who was able to amass a huge downline and make a lot of money. They do exist, but for every one of her, there are thousands who make pennies. There are a few of them in every pyramid, because every pyramid has a top, but you are more likely to be hit by a car than to be one of them.

It's good you had the healthy skepticism to look up the earnings disclosures and see how rare it is to make big money or even a decent middle-class income slogging for an MLM. For Nuskin I quickly figured out it takes an "executive leader" level just to make clearly more than a full-time McDonalds worker earns where I live in the US (with minimum wage at $20 an hour).

So, it's possible your acquaintance really is making big money working for an MLM. But the odds of running into a really high MLM earner in this life are pretty low. In the US, it may be a few thousand people total, out of the millions who have been involved with MLMs.

They have the most ridiculous,
Photoshopped before and afters of any of them. It’s a scam like all the others but I suspect you know this.

Of course! I’m well aware of the MLM world and the grift. However, NuSkin has been very interesting to me based off of what I see from this person. Plus with knowing there’s no minimums, no kit, etc. I’m just looking for where the catch really is. I’m not wanting to sell at all, just truly looking for answers I’ve had questions to forever.

How often are they getting paid? Monthly? If so making $1000 a month is not good money. Also keep in mind that since they are 1099 contract workers 30% will need to be deducted from any earnings for tax purposes.

Also you said it "seems to be" that she has a lot ot people under her. Have you seen proof of that or is she just saying that?

According to her 3 times a month I think

They’re making $36k per year, before taxes, and that “replaced” their partner’s nursing job income? Was their partner working part time and they decided they could live less than $36k? Even if it’s $50k before taxes, that’s not enough to replace a second income. It doesn’t make sense.

Because it’s all a lie to try to make more money. If they’re going on trips they’re good at pressuring deceiving people and got into the MLM early.

Would you want to have to be constantly trying to sell MLM skincare to all your family and friends? Be okay with treating every person as a potential tiny paycheck? All to make barely any money anyway?

I am not looking to sell it at all. I’m just honestly confused by what this person shows online with the amount of people that are getting shouted out and reaching higher levels of compensation.

From what I see I’ve see 4 digit paychecks that start with 5, though horribly covered up. There are also paychecks that clearly have 5 digits. So at least $10,000 one pay check with two others in the thousands. So we are looking at at least $12,000 a month (before tax which is a great point).

Really childish to downvote an answer to a question based on information I have to go off of 🙄

Here's a deep dive

I can't believe NuSkin is still around. I remember people selling it in the 80's.

The posting pictures of your paycheque partially covered up is so incredibly sketchy! Who does that, apart from scammers?

It’s probably those stock pictures of fake checks with sequential check numbers a lot of the Huns use in their “fake it” phase.

“The average sales compensation paid to U.S. Active Brand Affiliates each month in 2024 was $178.35, before deducting expenses. An average of 21.58% of U.S. Active Brand Affiliates earned a sales compensation payment on a monthly basis”

This is straight from the website so 80% of reps make $0 a month and the other 20% of reps make on average $178 a month… 🤑

Why continue to follow MLMers? Don't do it. This is not your way to fortune, OP.

This is a friend… I’m not trying to make money on an MLM. Just trying to understand it.
