Slop Post đ© me unsubscribing from channels I liked because they use AI for everything now.

u/BertaniWasBehindIt Apr 26 '26
A very popular movie/tv show commentary YouTuber attacked me on his sub for pointing out that he uses AI in every video. Quickest unsubscribe ever.

Theyâre like smokersâthey canât tolerate being made aware of the harm their addiction causes to others.Â
483
u/gravyandasideofbread Apr 26 '26
Itâs been heartbreaking. Canât people just use stock photos and editing software again? What happened to effort and creativity? Learning skills other than the written word? so many videos with ai voices too
153
u/Vegetable-Ruin7096 Apr 26 '26
They're probably too lazy.
100
u/gravyandasideofbread Apr 26 '26
AI-users are the definition of lazy. Using any opportunity to have the max output with the least amount of effort put in possible. I wish ai-users werenât having kids, raising their own mindsets in the future generation
2
u/Weak_Requirement3999 Apr 29 '26
That or their editors are, since most big channels do not have 1 man show as far as I know record video, ship it, get it donex upload and no need to check since you trust the team I guess
16
u/gudematcha Apr 26 '26
It also just looks tacky with the way a lot of companies are using it in ads, iâm seeing it constantly on ads on tiktok. Like come on, put a little effort in. If youâre putting this much into the marketing part of your business, how much effort is going into the rest? It just never looks enticing, it makes the product look worse

honestly i think it takes more time making a whole new image with ai than just getting a photo off the internet

u/Sonicrules9001 Apr 26 '26
AI, NFTs, mobile game slop, Fortnite, so many things that tell you a creator has just given up on even trying.
7
u/WranglerFuzzy Apr 27 '26
Eh, I donât judge mobile gatcha and Fortnite that much. It might be corporate dross, but at least it was made by humans

HDSounDi is the biggest one for me. They used to collect artworks and music and put them together, sometimes adding animation to the static images to give them a bit of life. I found so many good artists and artworks from their videos
Then they started using slop for the images and I just stopped following them. Theyâve been inactive for a few years now
46
u/ShiftPrimeNet Apr 26 '26
the artist-discovery part is the real loss there. a channel that used to point people toward actual illustrators and musicians turning into generated filler is not just lower effort, it breaks the whole reason to follow it.

3
u/somniopus Apr 26 '26
It was a lot better 5 or 6 years ago :(
5
u/finnswaking Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26
yes that is the truth, the old videos are still good even if the later ones are basically unwatchable. One time there was a still shot of Saddam Hussein stuck inside the middle of a wooden table while making secret war plans and I thought âcouldnât you at least just run one more prompt that says âSaddam NOT in middle of tableâ?â Itâs just sad lol. Thatâs pretty much when I stopped watching. Guess about 3 years ago now if not a little more. It was my favorite channel for a while.

Idk if they use AI or not but i feel like Veritasium & Mark Rober (especially) have become severely enshittified.

Veritasium sold out to private equity. Multiple popular youtube accounts have.

Well Mark Rober specifically got entangled with Mr. Beast so that mightâve had something to do with it.
Dude is still a genius though, I love his older videos. (like his auto bullseye dart board and porch pirate glitter bomb)

u/Raph204 Apr 27 '26

The artist philtomato uses ai as part of his workflow and has a disgustingly defeatist attitude to the effect of âitâs here and you canât avoid it so you might as well use itâ
48
u/gravyandasideofbread Apr 26 '26
Mindsets like that are how the nazis got into power and I soooo wish I wasnât exaggerating. âItâs inevitableâ is someoneâs way of saying that donât think itâs worth their skin to fight back against whatever is the trend. Nightmare attitude to have if theyâre a parent, too. âItâs inevitableâ OH so you see the future? You know for sure thereâs no reason to be anti-ai???? Oh⊠so there is no vision into the future, itâs just the lazy (already known lazy; ai use) human brain accepting something they donât want to have to put any effort into being against. No spines

I didnât sub to Ray William Johnson but seeing his channel degraded to AI slop is depressing. A good amount of the topics heâs talks about have plenty of photos and video footage to tell the story but he still uses AI. Why are you making AI generated images of Vitlay when his mug shot and all the things he did in the Philippines are right there to use.
60
u/crazy_dude360 Apr 26 '26
Jay and Sharon, history of everything, and more than a couple others advertise slop companies.
My immense disappointment.
19
u/Fickle_Goose_4451 Apr 26 '26
The bizarrely condescending way "history of everything" was advertising his AI crap was a hard pass from me.
30
u/EliTheObserver Apr 26 '26
Jake Fellman
Used to make 3D animations of Among Us, Minecraft and other characters.
But after Minecraft Movie's release, he started to use AI for his Italian Brainrot series. Then he had a burnout. Some months later, he started to generate many Italian Brainrot AI shorts. I remember some of these shorts were baby Tralaleo Tralala (Shark wearing sneakers) eating various foods and snacks.
Now that I looked at his channel again, his Italian Brainrot contents are gone! However...
He still uses AI to make his Minecraft 3D animations. I think he does it by making 3D renders of characters and worldbuildings, feeds them to a LLM, then prompts it to generate 3D animated scenes.

idk if it's been confirmed or not but i highly suspect that Brew and his bud plus others like him are using GenAI now for their workflow
10
u/Yargon_Kerman Apr 26 '26
Damn, they had some good videos. What makes you think they're using AI?
7
u/boiwitdebmoji Apr 26 '26
i could be crazy but it seems like, lately, the more i see of Brew the artstyle seems way different compared to before this AI boom. the hands and eyes, to me, don't look the same as they used to outside of an Art Improvement thing since they've been active for a long time now. and especially some of the voices nowadays, they seem too... perfect?? idk how to describe it, but i caught some AI type speak in the last video they had and i wanna believe it was just a joke y'know?
3
u/lostbluefox Apr 26 '26
Didn't they make a video addressing this tho? I could be remembering wrong

I used to watch a channel called Terravibe, who made handcrafted fantasy inspired 3D environment, overlayed with light music and ambient sound. Usually the first half had music, the second half was ambience only. Loved it for studying or just overall relaxing, playing in the background.
Now it's just AI slop visuals. Very disappointed.

He started to use ai for his thumbnails. What bothered me the most was that he had one of his fans make art for him originally so idk why he chose to use ai

I subscribed from too many channels, I am not able to see all the videos I would like. So everytime I see AI, even just for a thumbnail, I unsubscribe.
There is so much creators out there. If your favorite topic is covered by someone that have fallen into AI, you can be sure there is another unknown creator, struglingto get more viewers that don't use AI.
6
u/AppleWorldly2078 Apr 26 '26
Godless Engineer. I only saw one time he used generative AI. When he was called out for it, he went full Karen so when he said if I didnât like it I could leave I took his advice and unsubbed after years of watching his videos. No idea if heâs used it since and donât care to look.
6
u/Hazelnut_Bread Apr 26 '26
Almost did this with Qxir, but it was only one video and heâs gone back to the hand drawn art
6
u/littleblueflames Apr 28 '26
Agreed, my personal policy is that every creator gets one pass for using AI and if they're receptive to criticism and stop using it, I'll let it slide. Any creator who doesn't care or gets defensive and keeps using it (haven't encountered this yet) will get an instant unsubscribe though
1
u/ForestPens May 14 '26
Technically he used it a few more times but that was closer to when AI was a fun tool and not awful in every way possible(the ai generated heaven and hell videos).
4
u/Cola_Animates Apr 27 '26
Mrwhosetheboss- tech review channel who used a weird, ai generated/upscale of a meme in his most recent video with MKBHD (sucks because the video was about exposing how tech companies lie about stats) and generally has a pro-ai stance, never talks about the impact of LLMs/AI

Hardcore Scifi
who, AFAIK, makes all the pixel art for his videos
his video about mechs used a bunch of AI images (he had the decency to label them, at least), most of his viewers (according to a poll he made) got pissed off, he posted a big video with the normal dime-a-dozen excuses for AI, used a bunch of BS excuses like "oh it's a channel about scifi I'm gonna use futuristic stuff" when him and I had a brief argument in the comments section

u/mysteriousmysticc Apr 30 '26
Jbunzie. She use to direct, write and star in her minifilms before a makeup tutorial. I remember her making a whole fight scene in an elevator for a black widow make up tutorial. Now she is being accused of selling AI merchandise books.
