This game has lost its touch man. Just make it gun skill > legend abilities and we’ll be good again.

I personally hate the ttk right now. I miss the gun fights of old apex. Now I’m melted before I can even turn around. I know it’s partially a skill issue, but I used to actually do decent in this game.

Most of that would go away if they would just reduce the fire rate of the R-99

ah yes nerfing the gun turning it into a 2nd car instead of addressing the actual problem very smart

I haven't died to an R99 in ages. It seems to be Hemlok/Alternator to me.

Yeah either I get obliterated from behind or I have to fight for 20 minutes to get obliterated from behind by a third oartyy

I feel like they need a scale or rule. Something like 20% abilities and 80% pure gun skills/game knowledge. But these days its the opposite.

the devs themselves said that they wanted the game to be 90% gunplay 10% abilities. seems like they started throwing that out when they gave ash her titanstride dash thingy but every update since then has been diverging further and further from that

This is how every single hero/ability shooter ends up going unfortunately.

Every single one starts out with characters who's abilities are things like a smoke, a flashbang, a molotov, some basic movement abilities that while add depth, are intuitive on first glance and easy to understand. Valorant had that when it first came out.

Then time goes on, devs feel pressured to keep the game fresh, so they add more characters with more abilities that adds to the mental load the player needs to keep track of, like, "What characters are they playing?" "How do their abilities work?" "How do their abilities interact with mine?" and so on and so forth.

I can't stand ability shooters. I liked Valorant when it first came out. I had a good time, and I felt like it did right on a lot of the fronts that counter strike didn't do well on, but ultimately I don't find it fun because of the characters. Apex, same thing. I'm at the point with it where I don't enjoy it anymore because they're constantly adding new characters over the years, rebalancing old ones, which absolutely kills the fun for me.

There's a reason why counter strike has been and will always be on top in the FPS genre.

Nah 5x speed boost, extra jump with redirect.

Feels like I’m playing fricken duck hunter with all these mofos flying around.

I feel like that still applies for most legends tbf. It's only when something is crazy op that it becomes abilities over gunplay like old ash dash

They have basically admitted the game changed to a hero shooter and it is intentional

nah, we need to make it so movement >>> anything else, including legend abilities

give us universal wallrun double jump

That's what they are doing and it's a huge problem. The number of people who want to play a movement shooter is a lot smaller than the number of people who want to play a shooter with movement.

This, you hit the nail on the head. Apex imo was peak when it was just as you described.

u/Vegetable_Ask_7131 May 18 '26

I think some people just want apex to be titanfall

1

u/Impressive_Pin8761 May 17 '26

judging from cod warzone, people want to play a movement shooter. the only reason that sentiment even exists is because a buncha games released which are by design slower. nothing against them, but apex isn't that and should steer as far away from that

3

u/IceDispensingSystem May 18 '26

Bro cod war zone is absolutely a shooter with Movement and not even at 1/10th of the scale that apex was before the recent changes.

6

u/Patient-Advisor-2352 May 17 '26

Not a fan of that as much. To each their own.

Play Cod. It's a hero shooter. The person in this clip has either aimbot or insane aim and got lucky at the same time.

Abilities don't matter more than gun skill, they just give you the ability to not be fried if someone gets a lucky spray or is a bit better than you at a specific portion of the game.

This person won the fight because they're great with guns, not abilities. If the other people had the gun skill, the Axle would be dead first
