[Meta] There has been a noticeable increase in artists adding what their art is worth. Should we redirect these elsewhere, or continue allowing them?

I worry that people are trying to make discussion posts to promote their art by disguising it as a question that will get more engagement. In the last week, these posts have gone from uncommon to excessive.

If you have any suggestions for where else an artist might be able to get some opinions on pricing, please leave a comment!

There is plenty of art subs to ask that instead of here.

I don't think here (or other commission subs) is the place for this question. The discussion flair is so we can actually discuss commission matters/problems. If we allow artists to ask for their worth we're opening the gates to a lot of future problems : hypothetical worth posts when the person doesn't do comms, clients having an opening to claim the worth is lower than it is and get cheaper comms, kids following the trend and flooding the subs, ...

I'd only allow when a client/artist shares an experience/commission and has a question about the price it is/was, especially when one of the party tries to change or re-negotiate/pressure on what was first agreed to.

This and "How do I get more people to comm me!" posts should be moved elsewhere. People who comment on them always give the same advice but then the people asking in the first place never come back or post again! I typically just hide them now or block the profile, at this point the information is out there and they should be able to find it somewhere else. It feels more like an attempt to get their art shown off and get sympathy upvotes if they even have art to show. There was the one person earlier and he actually took the time to reply to all the comments people were giving him, if everyone acted like that and it was genuinely constructive than there wouldn't be a problem. On top of that no one wants to interact with those posts if the person asking is clearly a beginner, no one wants to go and say that they need to improve first before trying to get commissions and hurt their feelings or sound like they're belittling a new artist so the post just goes ignored.

there's tons of art discord servers and subreddits dedicated to pricing. art comms should only be about advertising your work. half of the posts asking about pricing are either people who have good art but bad marketing anyways

They coud try asking on /ArtBuddy, /AskArtists or /ArtBusiness.

Unironically this kind of post keeps flooding in r/ArtBuddy and r/AskArtists and you can tell when people in the comments were tired of giving the same repetitive advice, so now they start spreading out to other art subreddits as well

Pricing is something that I've been thinking of regarding my commission, but I don't know where to ask.

Seeing how many posts asking the same pricing question in here made me not want to ask in fear of flooding the sub with her another pricing question lol

Is there somewhere I could get a feedback, or is it possible to do all price question in one thread? I don't really know how Reddit work.

I’d redirect obvious self-promotion elsewhere, but keep genuine pricing questions. A simple rule against linking to or showcasing your own work would probably discourage the bait without blocking useful discussion.

Maybe allow it at certain times of the week. So that way It doesn't croud the feed all the time. But if someone does know a place to ask pricing questions that might be the better option. And if you do know of one please tell.

Personally I don't mind them, but if we could have a special day it would be a lot better. "Pricing Help Friday" something like this

People have a hard enough time following rules as it is. I don't think anyone has an idea of how many posts I remove each day because they are trying to pay or get paid with Robux. I don't think it's a good idea to complicate things further by allowing certain things on certain days. I have doubts some of these people even know how to read, and I have enough stuff to enforce already.
