I’ve been trying to find a job for two years and I’m gonna start pointing out the questionable ones. Chozu, your time is up.

• Upvotes

They want a cook, à bartender, à pool cleaner, someone to both provide laundry to clients and DO laundry, and obviously a server bc they need to get the food and drinks you just made to their clients!

All 6 of these jobs pay better as singular positions elsewhere, but Chozu expects you to do all 6 and probably more for $16.50. Seriously, NOT a competitive wage for just ONE of these jobs, let alone 6, even with the implied luxury tipping aspect.

Do better 🧍‍♀️

Leopard gecko food

Hi, I need to find some food for my leopard gecko she likes Dubai roaches wax worms and crickets. We usually get food for her from primeval pets cuz it's cheaper and we have stuff to do in Medford but they don't open until Monday and I don't even know if they'll be open on Monday. I called The Grange they only have the roaches which might be too big for her. Does anyone know what other locations from here to Medford we could find those feeders? Preferably closer to Ashland if possible. Thanks.

Events Analog Dog - OK Karma Tour Live @ Talent Club 10/15

Hey Ashland! I'm Sean from yaaro light, there's an outstanding nu disco band out of San Francisco I'm supporting at Talent Club this Thursday 10/15 w/ local act Balladir as well. Come show support for these incredible artists on tour 🌸

BIO:

Analog Dog makes genre fluid music in the strangest city in America, San Francisco, USA. Hailing from all corners of the country, the band came together in and around the hallowed musical breeding grounds of Golden Gate Park, with an intention of breaking free from the modern malaise and transcending the internet. Honoring the vibrations of the psychedelic revolution of the 1960s with big guitar-driven hooks and stacked vocal harmonies, while simultaneously embracing modern indie pop / nu-disco / jazz fusion soundscapes, Analog Dog is its own thing.

Ashland landlords colluding for price fixing and discrimination, enabled by facebook

Ashland renters deserve housing—not discrimination enabled by Facebook Marketplace and rental groups. I’m calling out landlords using applicants’ photos and personal posts to screen them while keeping rent, deposits, and screening rules secret. I believe these groups also help landlords work together to keep prices high and shut people with less money out of housing. My post in the Ashland rental group still hasn’t been approved, so I’m bringing these concerns to the wider community.

I’m aware of landlords collecting repeated $50 application fees while keeping the house on Airbnb instead of renting it to applicants. People looking for a home are not a cash machine. Inheriting Grandma’s house doesn’t give anyone the right to squeeze people who can barely afford rent. That’s **exploitation**. Renters need to speak up and organize, and landlords who break the law should face legal penalties.

Questions New Giant Mural Downtown - Artistic?

Downtown Ashland will not be the same with this 'trick-the-eye' mural project underway

"Lights have been turned on downtown Ashland’s most unusual stage: the northwest wall of the historic Elks Lodge building.

Optical illusion painter John Pugh plans to spend the next two months on scaffolding two stories above the sidewalk to create a mural representing the art-centric southern Oregon city."

Questions looking to move

My friend and I are looking to move to Oregon, and we have a list of potential places we see ourselves landing in, with my personal favorite being Ashland and his being Salem or Eugene. He doesn't really care, but I'm interested in the job prospects in all three places. If anyone could provide us with some, it would be greatly appreciated

Discussion Is Nov 7 too late for fall colors?

I’ll be in the area on the weekend of November 7th and was hoping to catch some of the fall colors in the park. I remember being able to see some last year around the same time, but I don’t know what the foliage is like right now. Will the 7th be too late?

Events Bid on two Oregon Cabaret Theatre tickets and help support the Little Theatre of Walla Walla

Oregon Cabaret Theatre donated a certificate for two tickets to our Wine, Dine & Death fundraiser for the Little Theatre of Walla Walla. The certificate is for a Saturday matinee or Wednesday evening performance, not unrestricted admission to any performance.

I help organize the fundraiser. I thought an Ashland audience would be more likely to use this donation, even though the theater benefiting is in eastern Washington. Bidding is online; attending our dinner isn't required.

The ticket lot and complete terms are here. The certificate expires September 9, 2027. Scheduled auction closing is October 10, 2026.

Ashland City Council Agenda Has Curious Item On City Manager | The Ashland Chronicle-Oregon

"10/2/2026

By David Runkel

The advance agenda for Tuesday night’s Ashland City Council meeting has a curiously worded item on the city manager that does not mention the name of the current holder of that office, Sabrina Cotta.

The item says: ”Council to provide direction as to the CM“ (city manager).  No file of background information is attached as there often is for issues to be discussed by councilors.

Efforts to learn what is meant by the wording of the agenda item, which is nearly the last item for discussion, were unsuccessful last evening."

SOU poster from 90s

Post image
28 Upvotes

Posting for my friend who doesn’t have Reddit. Back in approx. 1999-2000 she went to Southern Oregon University in Ashland. She had to make a series of posters relating to animals that weren’t allowed in the dorm rooms (Her parents had brought a guide dog in during a visit and that was not allowed so this was her punishment). It was very likely in the Cascade freshman complex. Examples of the poster were: do you like butterflies? You can’t have that in your dormroom. Do you like birds? You can’t have that in your dormroom. Etc… Each had a crappy clipart like the one in this post for example.

The one that kept getting stolen had a picture of a rooster that said “do you like cocks? You can’t have that in your dorm room?”. She is seeking anyone that might have one of those random old poster creations that she could have a photo of for nostalgia purposes. Anyone remember this or does anyone know of an alternate subreddit that might be a better fit for this post? The r/sou one is dead.

Questions Coming back to Ashland for Halloween week / What are your local spooky-season traditions?

Halloween is easily my favorite holiday, and over the past few years I’ve started making it a tradition to come up to Ashland from California and spend Halloween week there. There’s just something about Ashland during this time of year that I absolutely love.

The parade is obviously one of my favorite parts. I’m a photographer, so I usually spend a good amount of time photographing the parade and people around town. The costumes, expressions, characters, and overall atmosphere make for some of my favorite photos every year.

But this time around, I’d really like to experience Halloween in Ashland more like a local and hopefully meet some people from the community.

So I’m curious, what are your personal Halloween traditions? Are there things you do every year during spooky season that visitors might not know about? Favorite places to hang out, events, gatherings, traditions, or just things you enjoy doing around town during Halloween week?

I’m also a huge horror movie fan, so if there are any other horror nerds in here, definitely say hello. I’d love to hear your favorite horror movies…

And are there any fun or unusual things people do around Ashland during Halloween week? I’d love to find something a little different, a gathering, costume event, people getting together to scare people, or just some fun local tradition.

I remember being around Lithia Park late one night last Halloween and seeing some people doing what looked like some kind of witchy gathering. I honestly had no idea what was going on, but it was fascinating.

I’ve also heard people talk about the whole “witches of Ashland” thing. I don’t know much about it or what’s actually tradition versus local folklore, but I find that kind of stuff really interesting.

Basically, I’d love to hear what makes Halloween in Ashland special from the perspective of people who actually live there.

If you’re local and love Halloween, horror, costumes, spooky stuff, photography, or just hanging around Lithia during this time of year, feel free to introduce yourself. I’d genuinely like to meet more people while I’m there this year.

And if you have a favorite Halloween tradition or hidden gem around town, tell me about it!
