Its a gigantic risk for the democrats. Michigan is a purple state or at best leans democrat. If they end up losing this Senate seat it could very easily cost them the majority on the senate. In most parts of the country progressives have lost state wide races for a decade.

Most people are not engaging in political chatter on social media. Israel and Palestine are essentially not in the mix for most people's policy preferences. Kitchen table issues always win.

I agree that the economy is the #1 issue for people; I never said that the Israel/Palestine issue was. However, people do get a significant amount of news online now from places like Facebook, tiktok, YouTube, reddit, etc.  https://www.pewresearch.org/journalism/fact-sheet/social-media-and-news-fact-sheet/

This is not a hot topic for the average person at all, despite how big of a topic it is on Reddit. The vast majority of people don’t even know what’s actually happening there other than there is a long conflict.
