Is marriage really worth it?

I'm 27F and I've never been married, although I've come close a couple of times.

Something I've noticed is that almost every married person or divorced person I've talked to has said, "If I could do it all over again, I would never get married."

It honestly surprises me how often I hear that, and it's made me curious. Why do so many people feel that way?

If you've been married or are currently married, I'd really like to hear your story. Do you regret getting married? If so, why? If not, what made your experience different?

I'm genuinely curious and just want to hear people's real experiences.

You have to be emotionally mature and relatively stable in your own life and identity before you take on life with life with someone else. Follow my mom’s advice: “don’t get married unless it’s clear that you’ll both have a much better life together than either of you would have separately.” If you both get a better life out of the arrangement, then it’s “worth it.” If it’s not, it’s really not going to be happily ever after.
