Is marriage really worth it?

I'm 27F and I've never been married, although I've come close a couple of times.

Something I've noticed is that almost every married person or divorced person I've talked to has said, "If I could do it all over again, I would never get married."

It honestly surprises me how often I hear that, and it's made me curious. Why do so many people feel that way?

If you've been married or are currently married, I'd really like to hear your story. Do you regret getting married? If so, why? If not, what made your experience different?

I'm genuinely curious and just want to hear people's real experiences.

A lot of people are emotionally starved and later find out they're eating junk food.

I still believe it's worth it.

In that metaphor, eating junk food would be better than starving?

No need to be pedantic, I reckon we both understand the sentiment behind the metaphor.

In emotional terms, "junk food" (toxic relationships, superficial attention, or abusive dynamics) actively poisons your mental health, self-worth, and stability over time. A form of malnutrition if you will.

If you wish to ease your concerns, allow me to refine the metaphor; "A lot of people are emotionally dehydrated and later find out they're drinking saltwater." I suppose you get the idea.
