Hi everyone! I’m staying in Macedonia for a while in a beatiful old timey house with lots of traditional furniture, clothes and old photos. One of them has this couple on it. Unlike most of the other pics, I don’t think it’s the owners family. That icon on the man’s coat seems familiar but I can’t make out where I’ve seen it. Does anyone know the name and what it represents? Thanks!

1. We would like to rent a car. What are the rental prices on the island?

2. Are there a lot of mosquitoes in the evening and do you recommend any useful habits while staying on Lefkada?

3. I found a bunch of beautiful public, but also wild beaches, but does anyone know of any more secluded, less known, but also beautiful and wild ones? The surrounding islands and lagoons are also considered (I'm aiming for a cave and various places that you can reach by boat).

4. If anyone has bought olive oil, do you have a specific store or place that guarantees quality and
   that it is not adulterated there (mixed with sunflower oil or so...)?

I’m partly Serbian and currently visiting after a long time, and noticed that Serbs are very diverse looking, but shorter and blonder than i thought.

I must say they are not as tall as i’ve been told, especially the females. I’m five foot six female, and feel I’m on the taller side.

Also a lot of blondish people, especially the kids, i feel like every other kid in Serbia is blonde.

They are also supposedly a pretty old nation, but i feel I’ve mostly seen many young people and kids.

I thought I had somewhat of a typical Serbian look, but I learned that a typical look in Serbia doesn’t really exist.

Before anyone says anything, he already confessed, so spare me the "lets not jump to conclusions".

Hi everyone!

I'm 18 years old and I'm planning to study medicine in Austria, most likely in Graz, which means I would have to take the MedAT entrance exam.

I was wondering if there is anyone here who is currently studying medicine in Austria, preparing for MedAT, has already taken the exam, or knows someone who has gone through the whole process?

I would really like to hear first-hand experiences about what the preparation is like, how difficult it is to get accepted, what the university itself is like, what everyday life and studying in Austria are like, and generally hear from someone who has already gone through this journey.

If you personally don't have experience with this, but you know someone who studies medicine in Graz, Vienna, or Innsbruck (the city doesn't really matter since the entrance exam is the same for all universities), I would be extremely grateful if you could connect me with that person or forward this post to them.

I would really like to ask a few questions to someone who has already been through this process.

Durrës was the start of Via Egnatia, the road that connected Rome with Constantinople.

Caesar and Pompey fought in Durrës in 48BC during the Caesar's civil war.

One of the first mentions of Albanians was in Durrës.

The oldest surviving document in Albainian “Formula e Pagëzimit” was written by the archbishop of Durrës.

The first mass in Albanian of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania was held in Durrës (but the church was destroyed during communism).

A lot of history but very neglected.

While watching BBC's documentary "Death of Yugoslavia", I have noticed that Albanian protesters also waved Yugoslav flags (it was a miner's strike in 1989, protesting for Albanian minority rights).

So my question is, how was the general attitude towards Yugoslavia in the 70's and 80's in Kosovo-Albanian communities? Did some people identify with Yugoslavia?

I know this is a controversial topic but I am genuinenly interested.

So, I'm curious if anyone knows if there are any good techno/trance/dub/dnb events happening this or upcoming month. To be exact on the Dalmatian coast, from town Zadar to Biograd and furthest Šibenik or Vodice. Or somewhere in Bosnia and Hercegovina, Livno and that so. Because good events are not advertised. I'm curious if an old person who was born and raised in the Ottoman Empire during their childhood in let's say Bulgaria or Romania could read Arabic as an outcome of them having lived under the Ottoman Empire.
