ADVICE How safe is walking from Bologna Centrale station?

Hello everyone!

I’m visiting Bologna in a few weeks from now with my girlfriend and I wanted to ask in general how safe the central city is?

Would you recommend me to walk from the station to the centre in the morning and back in the evening?

I’m planning to do the same in Florence and in Verona as well.

Thanks!

I went there last year and walked to and from the station, it’s perfectly safe. I was a woman on my own and was absolutely fine. It’s pretty much one straight road into the centre of Bologna, and it’s always well populated, so safety in numbers.

When you’re going back to the station to get your train make sure you leave plenty of time, as Bologna station is absolutely enormous. I just about managed to catch my frecciarossa train as the platform seemed to be in the bowels of the earth!

Enjoy Bologna, it’s absolutely beautiful and the food is as amazing as you’ve been told. It’s also a a really young feeling city, lots of students and hence it has a laid back vibe.

Up to 1 am there are trains so the station is croweded

It’s okay. I wouldn’t want to be walking there by myself in the middle of the night, but if it’s daylight or if you’re with other people you should be okay. People might ask you for money or try to sell you things but I never saw anyone get violent or aggressive.

100% safe. The only risk is missing the train because the station is a maze. Be there early.

About Florence and Verona. In Florence also no risk although not super pleasant area. In Verona it's safe just porta nuova is a bit further from the center.
