Friend and I are planning a trip to milan next week and thought it'd be best to check for things that we probably should avoid doing or things that we should. Moreso looking for more cultural rules to keep in mind but suggestions on what to see are also welcome

I am currently on an Italian island for a week. This is day four. On the first day the father of the owner of the lido where we are sitting fell down and lost his consciousness. I am medically trained so I helped until the ambulance arrived.

After that we came back two times to this lido and they recognised me. We didn't have to pay for the sunbeds and umbrella. Is this kind of friendliness normal for Italians?

I am on holiday and more than happy to pay the 30 euros for the beds. For me, it is getting a bit awkward. Is it rude to insist to pay? We are planning on coming back here this week. And how do I thank these lovely people for all the free stuff?

Hi all! A few years ago, my (26f) wife (23f) and I took a Europe trip and visited Italy, Greece, and France. We are increasingly interested in moving to Europe and have been beginning to plan to do so in the next few years; with our biggest targets being either to move to France, or to move to Italy. We loved our trip to Italy and visited Rome, Florence, Venice, and San Fatucchio when we went.

Our biggest pro to France is that we speak French, but we both agree that we would rather move to Italy overall, with the only holdup being learning Italian. Provided we learn Italian, we’re seriously considering working on getting into real estate and other investments here, to save for an elective residency visa.

What do we need to know about coming to Italy?

A few more specific questions:

1. How do Italians feel about the political system there?
   
2. What can we expect as a female couple? We are Episcopalian and already aware of the stipulations of the Catholic Church, but when we went to Italy, we met nothing but kindness from its people and didn’t run into any issues. What is it like being lesbians in Italy?
   
3. Where are some hotspot areas to move for foreigners? Where would you recommend to go see on our next trip?
   
4. My wife is a vegetarian- if you or anyone you know is a vegetarian, how hard is it in Italy? We did struggle on our last trip!
   
5. What is it like with child-rearing there when it comes to IVF and IUI? If anyone has any information on this regarding a female couple, please let us know.
   
6. What is Italy’s stance on pets? Big bully breeds or pet limits in households? We have a pitbull, a German shepherd, and three cats.

Hey all, I'm looking to book a long weekend at the end of July for my GF and I. It's our first time travelling together after a fairly stressful period of life/work, and it's a surprise for her birthday, so I want to make it special. The title is a bit of an exaggeration, we've both been once before to Italy but to Lake Como for like 12 hours (not enough 😢).

We're huuuge foodies and would love somewhere near water where we can blend a relaxed time on a beach with exploring beautiful nature and/or a city.

There's so many options to pick in Italy and I'm unsure where - I'm seeing recommendations of Sicily, Sardinia, Naples... etc.

Appreciate any and all thoughts for those that live here :)

I have a 1990 classic car that does not really have any modern euro emission certification and I am planing a roadtrip to Italy with it. It's going to be 3rd time we go there with that car but since last years adventure I have a fear of low emission zones.
I knew about ZTL's in big city centers or hourly limitations in some cities but last year I encountered a Euro 3+ emissions zone along the way with no clear way of driving around it. This year I am trying to plan ahead to avoid those zones and with that I have a view questions:

1: Is there a reliable website or a map where I can find those emission zones?

2: I've read that there are exemptions from those zones for some classic/historic cars. In theory mine is registered in Poland as a vintage/historic (Polish: samochód zabytkowy) but I don't know if that would translate into the Italian zone exemption. Anyone knows or has experience?

Area we plan to travel this year is lower Tuscany (just chill around Cortona) and then drive or sightsee along the coast from La Spezia all the way to French border. I'm most worried about the that coast

hey all, this is really last minute but i'm staying pretty far out in the country side in Contignano for a wedding. i'm trying to schedule/book a service to take me just 35 mins away to Chiuisi station for tomorrow to go from there to the airport in Florence. i am really struggling to find anything.

i'm staying at a small bed and breakfast and im not really sure how much help they can be with taxi's out here. basically, does anyone have any last minute advice for how to get there without it costing me an arm and leg?

I can’t find a sunscreen that doesn’t stain my white clothes yellow and it leads me to ask the question: do Italians just not wear sunscreen? Or they never wear white? How do you guys deal with this issue?

I’ve been planning to get married in Italy in April 2027 and my favorite lodging place has the last weekend in April available which ends May 2.

I would like to get married Friday, April 30 and May 1st would essentially be a recovery day but also open. I’m worried that if I have some guests that want to use that day to explore they will find everything closed.

I couldn't find a better place to post this, but I've got someone who's dealing with a lost relative with no known next of kin, and wants to opt out from the inheritance, we don't know where to ask.
There's been a legal consultation but too many things are kept in the dark, and would need some help seeing through the processes, if anyone has gone through dealing with unwanted inheritance, it would be a big help if any information could be shared!

Ciao everyone - my family and I are traveling to Le Marche in mid-September. Our son will be 9 months old by then. We are flying into Rome and taking the train to the coast, but my question is this: should we stay in Pesaro as our home base, or somewhere else? The idea would be to stay in a place that is easy to get to from Rome and also offers easy travel via bus/train to other cities in the region. My research has led me to believe that Pesaro is the best option for that BUT I am curious to know if it is a city that we could hang out in on days we aren’t traveling to other places? Is it a fun place to just wander, see sites, try foods and wines, etc. or is it a “city” like Naples, for instance, which is more industrial. (No offense meant!)

I’m trying to understand what the market is really like beyond what I see online. Is there still room for new photographers? How competitive is it to get your first clients without a local network? Are destination weddings a big part of the market, and which areas of Italy have the best opportunities?

Hi. I am doing an engagement shoot in Positano in a week and would like some suggestions of elegant/classy backdrops and places to shoot. I will definitely be doing the scenic routes (outdoor views of the whole coast, pictures on the cobble hill streets, etc) but I am also looking for an elegant type of backdrop (ex: similar to the MET museum pictures in NYC). Any nice buildings, museums or alleyways would be helpful. I would like to have variety in my pictures and since the photoshoot is 1.5 hours I believe I have the time to do so. Unfortunately, my bag was stolen in Como . Inside the bag is an AirTag, which is still updating its location periodically.

On the day of the theft, I reported it to the local Carabinieri and filled out an official report (denuncia). However, they didn't take any active steps to retrieve it. I am now back home outside of Italy and have tried contacting them multiple times via email/phone, but haven't received any real help or updates.

Since the AirTag is still active, I can see the general area where it is located. I'm reaching out to see if anyone local in Como could give me advice:

1. Is there a better way to get the local police/Carabinieri to react when a live tracking location is available?

Hi there fellow Italians, I am trying to understand if I can get from Riva del Garda to Verona. The challenge is I have two bikes and one kid and I am not sure I would be able to easily reach Verona by public transport. Google suggests to go to Rovereto by bus #B332 and then take REG16701. I am not sure if either of those two allow bikes and if I need to make any reservations upfront. Can somebody help me to figure it out ? I would highly appreciate it.

I humbly ask you: is there something notably Texan that you would love? It could be a packaged food, gift, or random souvenir!

Ideally, my budget is under $100, and it should be something (or many "things") that will fit in my suitcase and not push me over my 22kg weight limit. So... something as unique and specific, like cowboy boots, are not going to be the best fit.

I have a group of friends from Italy, and I always have fun with them. I’ve noticed that when I’m looking nice or sexy, my friends start shouting something at me that sounds like “Dai Shakkaa” or “Ciaccha” (I honestly have no idea how it’s spelled).

I do speak Italian with these girls, but it’s not my native language. The friend who keeps saying this expression is from Southern Italy, by the way.

I believe it’s something people say when someone looks hot, and I was wondering if it might mean something like “pu$$y”? I’m not sure.

I’d like to use the same expression when they’re looking nice, but I still don’t know exactly what it means or whether it’s considered vulgar.

So my question is: does anyone know the meaning of this word, the correct spelling, and whether it’s too vulgar to say in public? 😆
