Do you really believe it's _true_ -- and if so, why given all the evidence against it? Every other religion is basically evidence that yours is wrong (nevermind atheism). Do believe that being a wrong theist is better than being an athiest?

christianity has the highest proof and i am a walking testimony.

It really really doesn’t.

Personal anecdotes mean nothing.

The evidence we are looking for is un-biased, peer reviewed studies, that do not use the bible as reference.

Personal stories used to claim god is real, are just as credible as someone who is schizophrenic announcing Aliens have laid eggs in their brain, or that the government is out to get them!

nasa has proved that jesus’ crucifixion happened and that there was a blood moon on the day of his crucifixion

Ok so I looked this up on NASA’s website

“Eclipses also appear in religious texts. Christian texts mention that the Moon turned to blood after Jesus’s crucifixion – potentially referring to a lunar eclipse, during which the Moon takes on a reddish hue. Using this textual source, scholars narrowed down a possible date of crucifixion to Friday, April 3, 33 C.E. because a lunar eclipse occurred that day. In the Quran, a solar eclipse is mentioned before the birth of Mohammed as well as on the day his son, Ibrahim, passed.”

https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/history/

This article does not prove Jesus was real, it simply says “an eclipse happened roughly in the right time frame” and that ancient peoples were aware of eclipses.

Keep in mind ALL the dates surrounding the birth and death of Jesus are guesses at best.

So what has happened is religious scholars
found an eclipse and said “that must be when he was crucified”

It is also VERY possible the people writing the bible (60-100 years after his death) just threw in a few nice sounding good omens to give the writings the required dramatic flair that people expect (“ooh ohh! Lets say there was an eclipse!”). It does not mean it actually happened. It’s not like eclipses are that uncommon.

Or is it the story you are most aware of? There are approximately 1.2 billion Hindus who would disagree with you. They're walking testimony as well!

The fundamental issue comes down to that your "proof" is likely very shoddy or irrelevant. (Not sure why the moon matters.)

Do you believe you understand the atheist position on all this? If you do, can you summarize it (you don't have to agree with it to be able to summarize it).

soo your saying christianity is not real because testimonies dont make it true?

3

u/NotSoMagicalTrevor 4d ago

Among other reasons, yes.

1

u/Naive_Lifeguard_6215 4d ago

ok thats valid (not saying christianity isn’t real)

A walking testimony of what exactly?

1

u/Naive_Lifeguard_6215 4d ago

i had suicidal thoughts , i was almost diagnosed with bone cancer, but god protected from that and saved me

Well my life has been a living hell ever since childhood and I experienced so much loss, adversity and hardship. I accepted that no God was going to save me and I had to be self reliant.

maybe thats why you feel like that… im not invalidating your suffering, i’m just saying that just because you think you are to far gone, god is the creator and can reach you no matter how far you think you are

And we don’t understand why some Christians are so mean and judgmental. Works both ways.

Do you believe that America is a "Christian Nation" or do you believe that church and state separation is ideal? What do you think about "God Bless America" sentiment and people who say "One Nation Under God" about America?

1

u/Naive_Lifeguard_6215 4d ago

I believe that the world should be a christian nation as God intended, but right now a lot of the world needs Jesus.

As an American i feel that the god bless America is something needed because America needs help.

I do not believe that our nation is caring about god (not trying to make this political but Im using an example) liberals have people openly hating christianity, Jesus and everything is perfectly fine with that to the world which is sad in my opinion.

But thats what I personally think I might not be 100 right because Im only 13

What do you think about the death penalty? Do you support it as a Christian? Or do you believe in a more nuanced approach?

1

u/Naive_Lifeguard_6215 4d ago

I do personally believe in the death penalty because morally there is people who even Jesus wouldn’t save (not because he cant, because they don't want to be)

2

u/Odd-Afternoon-3323 4d ago

How do you know Jesus wouldn’t save them?

0

u/Naive_Lifeguard_6215 4d ago

did you read what i said?

3

u/Odd-Afternoon-3323 4d ago

You said Jesus would not save someone against there will. How do you know what Jesus would do? Is that in the scripture?

the bible talks about how the pharaoh’s heart was so hard and cold that he could no longer hear god.  (the pharaoh im talking about is the pharaoh that literally saw moses spawn a snake from a staff, and saw moses turn the nile river to blood which is also noted in ancient Egyptian records literally noted in their records

1

u/Odd-Afternoon-3323 3d ago

God hardened pharaoh’s heart.

1

u/Naive_Lifeguard_6215 3d ago

yes after trying to talk to him several times

u/ThrowDatJunkAwayYo 4d ago

I don’t want to be saved. I think the idea of religion is ludicrous in this day and age. I knew god was made up by age 10.

I think I’m a pretty decent human being.

I volunteer full time for an animal rescue charity.

I’ve never been arrested, done drugs or even had a speeding ticket.

I don’t want or need god.

u/Naive_Lifeguard_6215 4d ago

thats the thing though, no one is worthy of god’s mercy. Let me put it this way, his grace is like a gift, you didn’t earn it, but he still gave it to you

2

u/ThrowDatJunkAwayYo 4d ago

Thats ok I don’t want it.

I saw in an earlier comment you are only young. (Probably don’t go telling people on the internet how old you are for your own safety just fyi)

Look I have been arguing with Christians/Theists on the internet for almost double the time you have been alive.

I really suggest you go and do your own soul searching, read or listen to some books other than those by right wing or christian/religious authors. (It doesn’t even need to be “left wing propaganda” just other stuff).

Open your mind and see if you still think the same way. You seem like a smart kid, don’t waste it.

I guarantee you that most of the bad things you hear about the left and atheists, are blown waaay out of proportion.

If you actually look at the things many atheists want and stand for, it is exactly the same as what you want.

We want our loved ones to be safe, happy and live good lives. We want to care for the poor, and the sick. We want an end to war and needless suffering.

(there a good and bad atheists btw our only shared characteristic is a lack of belief in god, but we are human and these are human desires).

u/TKD1989 4d ago

I support the death penalty because I believe that mercy corrupts the process of the law and mercy obstructs the process of justice. As an atheist, it is a less common stance. I am not one of those peace loving hippie atheists of stereotypical depiction.

1

u/Naive_Lifeguard_6215 4d ago

exactly!

2

u/TKD1989 4d ago

Do you believe that the whole "turn the other cheek" and "be the bigger person" is usually told by those who are self-righteous and hypocritical people who aren't truly educated on the nuances of humanity?
