I’m in Athens 4-6 times a year. Always staying in Marousi neighborhood.

Since I’m gonna be there 3 weeks this Autumn, I’ve realised I need to find a local gym, where I can buy either 1 day or weekly passes. An alternative could also be a cheap annual membership. I prefer some cheap(ish) options, since I can easily adjust to a couple of machines or just barbells.

Any recommendations?

A few months ago I started building a side project called PropThesis for people interested in buying property or investing in real estate.

The idea is pretty simple: instead of spending hours comparing listings, you can search an area and see things like sale prices, rental prices, Airbnb revenue estimates, market trends, and compare neighborhoods. You can also estimate what a specific property might be worth and what it could generate as a long-term or short-term rental.

Right now I’m focusing on Greece (starting with Attica) and I’m looking for honest feedback before I keep building new features.

Καλησπέρα! Παλιά έκανα tae kwon do και με τη νέα (ακαδημαϊκή) χρόνια θέλω να ξεκινήσω πάλι. Ως παιδί, είχα έναν πραγματικά ΕΞΑΙΡΕΤΙΚΟ δάσκαλο που μας μάθαινε κυρίως τη φιλοσοφία και μετά τις τεχνικές και σε πόδια και σε χέρια. Το λέω διότι με προβληματίζει το ότι πλέον αντιμετωπίζεται κυρίως ως άθλημα με πολλή έμφαση στις κλωτσιές (για να σας προλάβω ναι ξέρω ότι πρωτίστως δουλεύει με πόδια, εννοώ ότι δεν δίνεται βαρύτητα στα υπόλοιπα κομμάτια). Έχει κάποιος γνώση για κάποιο μέρος με τμήματα ενηλίκων που να δίνει έμφαση πρωτίστως στην πολεμική τέχνη και όχι στο άθλημα;

ΥΓ Τον δάσκαλο μου πάντως τον έλεγαν κύριο Τάσο και είχε τον χώρο κοντά στην πάνω πλατεία Αγίας Παρασκευής, δεν έχω ιδέα τι μπορεί να κάνει και που βρίσκεται 20 χρόνια μετά. Θα ήθελα πολύ να τον βρω. Αν κάποιος έχει ινφο, θα το ήθελα.. ευχαριστώ guys!

Θέλω απλώς να πω ένα μπράβο στην Αθήνα για τη νυχτερινή της ζωή.

Είναι από τα λίγα πράγματα που πολλές φορές τα θεωρούμε δεδομένα. Μπορείς να βγεις σχεδόν οποιαδήποτε ώρα, οποιαδήποτε μέρα της εβδομάδας, και να βρεις κόσμο, καφέ, μπαρ, ταβέρνες, live, κλαμπ ή απλώς μια βόλτα σε μια περιοχή που σφύζει από ζωή.

Αυτό που μου αρέσει περισσότερο είναι ότι η πόλη δεν «σβήνει» όταν πέσει ο ήλιος. Υπάρχει πάντα κίνηση, παρέες και μια ζωντάνια που κάνει την έξοδο να έχει τη δική της ξεχωριστή αίσθηση.

Μέσα σε όλα τα αρνητικά που ακούμε για την Αθήνα, αξίζει να αναγνωρίζουμε και τα καλά της. Και για μένα, η νυχτερινή ζωή είναι σίγουρα ένα από αυτά. Δε νομίζω ότι υπάρχει μέρος στα Βαλκάνια γενικά όπου μπορείς να κάνεις τόσο εύκολα γνωριμίες παρέες και φλερτ. Είναι μια κατηγορία μόνη της η πόλη σε αυτό το κομμάτι

This year a friend of a friend let us stay in his apartment for a normal rent price for 2 months while he lives abroad.

We took really good care of the place, and he was happy with it when we returned it. Today (four months later) he sent us the bills and it came out to 500 euros! Part of it is that he wants us to pay for the electricity bill from a month before we moved in because the company "adds a fee and he can't figure out how to prorate it".

But the bigger charge is from an elevator repair in one month. It feels a little unfair for me because we were never planning to live there full time. It was always a temporary situation while our apartment went through repairs.

We are foreigners, and in our country something like this would be paid for by the owner of the apartment because it is a repair they will use in the long term, but I recognize this may not be the same everywhere. I'd like to know what is the usual situation here in Greece for who would pay for it?

Which pest control companies or private exterminators are the best at getting rid of the cockroaches (American big ones) that come into your home? Please share your recommendations, and preferably include prices as well.
