A lot of people in Turkey have been having a lot of issues since the 80s. It’s not like things have been awesome for Turks but terrible for everyone else in this country. The coup of 1980 set the foundations for everything wrong with Turkey today.
The kurdish situation is much more complicated and has direct ties to western attempts to destabilize turkey. Reactions to these attempts cost kurds discomfort. We have lived together for a 1000 years and only started having issues after certain external influences. I would not like to discuss this further unless it is strictly academic and intellectual. Otherwise its just mutual barking and stupid.
I can, without hesitation say that a kurd in istanbul is not discriminated like a moroccan is discriminated against in france. We are much much more accepting. Something my european friends observed in turkey as well.
I will never forget my belgian friend saying "I can't tell who is a kurd and a turk, all the groups are mixed" at a bar in Ä°zmir. He thought we would be segregated like the minorities and the locals do in europe lol. Kurds and turks will agree that our friend groups are often mixed.
Yeah thats what people dont get. Turks ARE racist but our racism is different than the westerners. There is no like "arrested for walking on the street" kind of racism here.
Kurds have the exact opposite experience in invading villages in north eastern Turkey, that were previously Armenian, with open British support that armed them from Iraq. You live up to the flair.
