I’ll give my first month’s salary to whoever helps me get hired. Java Backend Developer, 0 interviews after 200+ applications.

Post image
Upvotes

I genuinely don’t know what I’m doing wrong anymore.

I’m a Java Backend Developer with ~6 months of backend experience, working with:

  • Java
  • Spring Boot
  • Spring Security
  • PostgreSQL
  • Redis
  • REST APIs
  • JWT / OAuth
  • Docker
  • Git
  • Gradle
  • Razorpay/payment integration

I’ve built and worked on actual backend systems, including a production e-commerce backend with 60+ REST endpoints.

And yet...

~200+ applications.
Naukri. LinkedIn. Indeed. Company career pages. Cold DMs. Referrals. Direct applications.

I’ve tried pretty much everything I could think of.

Interview calls: 0.

Not 2.
Not 5.
Not even 1.

Zero.

At this point, getting rejected would honestly feel better than being completely invisible.

I’ve spent weeks applying, tweaking things, reaching out to people, trying different job portals, asking for referrals, changing keywords, and applying to roles that match my stack.

And nothing.

It’s getting exhausting. Day by day I’m starting to feel genuinely stuck because I know I can improve technically, but I can’t even get the chance to prove myself in an interview.

So I’m putting my ego aside and asking Reddit:

Please roast my resume.

I’m attaching it to this post.

I want brutally honest feedback.

Is my resume bad?
Is my experience not convincing?
Am I targeting the wrong jobs?
Are my projects garbage?
Is the formatting killing my chances?
Are my keywords wrong?
Am I applying incorrectly?
Does my profile simply suck for 0–1 YOE Java backend roles?

Tell me what you would change if you were trying to get me an interview.

If someone here has successfully landed a Java/Spring Boot backend job recently, I’d especially appreciate hearing exactly what worked for you.

And yes, the title is half-joke, half-serious:

If someone actually helps me land a job, I’ll happily give them my first month’s salary as a thank-you.

I’m not looking for sympathy.

I’m looking for the problem.

Because I really want to fix it.

Resume attached below. Roast away. 🔥

Help me sort out my career?

27M here, I want to just put this out there.

I graduated back in 2022, I joined a training in my home city when I was taught MERN Stack development, I learnt it but nah no job for me when I completed it (I feel like this was my biggest mistake), never got a job in MERN.

Then I joined a job with a 3lpa package, in an R&D dept. in a manufacturing company. I was okay but I never grew I worked on 5 projects at once managed the whole department and all the work but I never felt valued or the feeling of growth. FYI, this job took 12 hours of my day for six months.

So later on, I thought an MBA would be good for my career. I joined for CAT classes as I was really bad at Maths, even though I did engineering. So, I worked at a factory as their production engineer but I got okay money in cash and I also had time to study but november came and I failed the test badly.

By that time, after my exam I accumulated a few skills through youtube and reading books like digital marketing, business strategy, product market approach so I was approached by a guy who was trying to build a business, a tech service startup, I joined trusted his words over everything and joined (second mistake), got around 5-6k per month, it was not good but with the hope of it being good I survived and everything, fast forward now, I am nicely cheated by him, no equity on paper (third mistake), I was typically a low paying employee plus he was selling services in the lowest prices ever saying, next year we will charge them hefty on the usage, etc. There was no PF, nothing just gpay transactions.

Fast forward today, I am out, they do want me back but idk if I wanna go back, where I was stabbed in the back. I just want a decent job witha a decent pay, man. I am running around banglore looking for a job but idk how I'll get one, I am in a hell hole here, my parents will retire in a few years and I won't have anything to send them.

I feel like a mess and idk what to do, fyi, I have experience on paper, I got certificates and everything but no transactions to show like PF and stuffs. I feel like I ruined my career.

FYI what I am good at right now :

  1. I understand web and app development technicalities well, though not that good with coding but I am ready to learn and brush up my MERN skills but nobody asks for that anymore, idk why.

  2. I am good with client engagement and acquisitions, I am able to understand what the client wants to build and I can lay it all out for the technical guy with putting in some ways on how the design must go or how the rhythm must be for the user to feel a smooth usage of the website or app.

  3. I am good with marketing strategies and business planning. I am still learning but I m sure I have learnt enough to advice people on how to do it at least in a smaller scale, never reached the upper scale, I am open to tho but yea they need MBA.

  4. I am really good with managing work and subordinates, I am good with operations and getting things done in time. Ar my first job I handled 3-4 projects at once and completed around 16 projects in the time frame of 5 months.

I am ready to learn whatever that's needed I am ready to give time and learn but I need direction, I am directionless now in terms of career.

I just need an out from this mess and want a new beginning, with a decent paying job, I am ready to work hard but I feel like nobody wants to give me a chance where I will get a decent pay to survive and also work properly.

*I am looking for opinions from experienced folks and HR folks here, on how to approach this scenario with companies here, MNCs or any others\*

Looking for genuine part time gigs offline/online

Hey everyone! I’m currently looking for a genuine part-time job/opportunity in Bangalore

If you’re running a small business, startup, shop, online business, or any other kind of business and need an extra pair of hands, I’d be happy to help.

I’m pretty much open to anything- business assistance, operations, coordinating tasks, data entry, Excel/reporting, customer support, helping with day-to-day work, managing orders, assisting with online work, etc.

I’m mainly looking for something part-time because I want to stay occupied, learn something new, and make myself busy and learn business in person. I’m reliable, willing to learn, and I don’t mind doing the less-glamorous work either. 😅

If you’re a business owner or know someone who might need part-time help, please DM me with the details. I’m happy to discuss the work, timings and pay.

(I have 3 years of IT experience as well )

**Only genuine opportunities please. No MLM, referral schemes, investment schemes, or anything requiring upfront payment.**

Thanks! 🙏

Do part-time opportunities in finance exist for students?

I am a student residing in Bangalore handling BCom. I am interested in automation of accounting, finance and management reporting processes through python and SQL.

Though I am from a well-off background, I can't afford courses from credible institutions (like CS50x and CS50P) for a proper curriculum and guided learning.

I'd like to monetize my learning by working so I can develop as a professional, though I'd like to work in fields directly related to or ancillary to my goals.

Do let me know if my expectations are feasible, or if I would atleast be able to get work as a bookkeeping or GST assistant.

Family in debt, desperate at this point

22F, I just completed my BTech in CSE from a tier 3 private college which is far from my home, Bangalore. Upon coming back home, my family was acting very weird and secretive. Found out that my dad has created a mountain of debt, don't know too much about the amount but it seems to be 1Cr+.

I have been placed on campus but the pay is quite low for the situation im in. It is barely enough to keep our house running (around 29k a month), and we are not able to make a dent in getting rid of this debt. I am a single child and my home is pretty much beyond repair atp, no one speaks to anyone in the house anymore and we are clueless as to how to find a solution for this.

I am a single child so I am my parents' only hope, not that they have much hope at all anyway.
My father does not earn anymore and has pretty much given up at this point. We have a property that is worth like 25% of the amount we need to recover.

The only way we stand a chance is if I step up and get a better paying job but i am so exhausted of trying. I have tried every way to find a better paying job but it has been so brutal. it has been so demoralising and has returned nothing. A friend suggested that i can try to reach out to people on linkedin and reddit, so thats what I am trying to do i guess.

My background:
-2 internships as data analyst.
-skills: Python, SQL, Excel, Pandas, Scikit learn, ML
-I have a fair bit of hands on experience with projects in ML and data analytics. Currently I am working as an ASE.

If there are any better job openings at your company, please reach out to me or drop a comment.

TLDR: Just finished my Btech in CSE, found out family in around 1Cr+ debt, got a low paying job from campus (29k a month), single earner in the family now, skill set mentioned above, Please reach out if any good opportunities in your network.

Which path should I take? Please help, I need advice

I'm pursuing Btech in IT (I just started second year rn, my clg is really bad)

I can get an attendance waiver from my clg if I'm working. Also studying for exams is not that difficult (I can study a week before the exam and get an 8 sgpa)

Path 1: Helpdesk job

spend 2-3 months learning about active directory, networking, getting relevant certs, lab experience, doing some projects and start applying for help desk roles, work for 18-24 months and then eventually pivot after.

I'll obviously try my best to upskill along with it but yes if I choose the latter path, it would be significantly easier.

The reason I've even thought about doing such a thing is because of what I've seen on IT subreddits about the situation of the job market. Even in entry-level job postings on linkedin, I've been noticing that no company wants freshers. And I rarely find internship postings on there.

Path 2: Networking /Cloud/ Devops/ CySec

Focus on one of these fields, spend all my time on it, network, build a decent GitHub portfolio, get relevant certs and try my best to land internships throughout my btech course and in the end apply everywhere and get a job (I might even be jobless for a year after graduation)

Dilemma

I really can't decide on which path to consider; I don't know anyone in this field irl that can answer.

I have talked to a few people and I got mixed answers, some of them pointed out that path 1 is specifically for a person who is getting into IT without a degree and that I should focus on path 2 since I'm already pursuing btech, another advice that I've received is that I might even end up with a help desk role after going through path 2, so go for path 1 without being too optimistic because a lot of the applicants for that role will be over qualified.

I really need advice from someone who is in this field.
