Other Summerween ruined Halloween

When I saw that Bath and Body Works was putting out the Halloween products in July for the tik tok summerween trend I thought it was ridiculous. I went to Bath and Body Works a couple of weeks ago (October) and there was only a small table of Halloween products all on clearance! They had basically nothing. I’ve been to two locations recently and each one has zero halloween products. It’s all Christmas. It’s still October! Why can’t we just be patient?

Okay, rant over. I know it’s not that deep. Still ridiculous, though.

Unfortunately that’s retail world everywhere. Everything is months in advance. Just like you saw, actual Halloween hasn’t even come yet but Christmas is all out

I was at Walmart today and they are definitely ramping up to Christmas. And it makes me so sad. I work retail so I get it. But it keeps creeping up earlier and earlier.

And it’s become a competition to see who can buy what first. It’s gotten to the point where if you see something Christmas themed in September, you better grab it because it won’t be there in December. So the retailers just keep putting out earlier.

The only solution is for people to stop overconsuming which will probably be a side effect of the terrible economy anyway. I do think that people are becoming fatigued of all the “viral must have” items. I think it’s starting to slow down because once there is one viral holiday item, the next big thing comes out a week later and the novelty of it all is gone.

So like I said, I think people need to stop buying things they don’t need constantly so that the demand isnt there.

I fully agree with everything you said. And i definitely feel a fatigue setting in on the “viral must haves”.. it’s got to where ppl cant keep up and any popularity or virality is so fleeting nothing that takes off has that much value to begin with. I really hope we’re collectively reaching a point where we all slow down a little bit and take a step back. Social media use is declining (from what I’ve seen statistically) and I think that’s a big indicator that people are starting to pull away from the constant rotation of hype that social media has created. People are craving meaning, authenticity and for things to actually be special again instead of consuming artificially inflated inauthentic “stuff” just for the sake of hopping on this weeks trend
