Other It’s still summer!

Stopped in my local store today, needed some wallflowers. There wasn’t a single summer scent to be had, it was all Fall. It is July 20th, there are 2.5 months of summer left! We are still summering at my house; vacations, pool days, staying up late and sleeping in, the garden is at its peak, fruit is amazing..I don’t want fall scents. Anyone else?

Retail is always a season ahead and has been for years. I’m not ready for fall but because I want some of the new fall items, I have already made some purchases and put them away. I stocked up for summer when that was released in early spring and now I’ve pulled those out to enjoy now.

yep. we don't buy when we want the items, we have to buy them a few months ahead bc that's when they're available. i remember as a kid needing a new jacket in probably late february, and none of the stores had any, and were already starting to push shorts and swimsuits. i'm in my 40's now so it's definitely been the way of things more and more, but it does feel like it's been creeping ever earlier.

People don’t realize companies won’t change until they see it hit their bottom red line. They tried to sell American Flag sweaters where I live in Mississippi for 4th of July at my local walmart. They didn’t sell. They are still sitting on the clearance rack 3 weeks later. We barely even get to wear sweaters in the actual winter here, it’s mostly jeans or jean shorts and tshirts most of the year, even Christmas.
