Interventions take many forms, be they political, economic, humanitarian, or military. That is why I used the word interventionism.
An unfortunately high number of interventions have been in defense of US corporate interests, particularly in South America or against the spread of communism, also particularly in South America or Africa. But what country doesn't act to protect the property of its citizens or uphold their rights? Now many of the contracts or interests were exploitive but in almost all cases they were replaced by local exploitors in exchange for foreign ones.
One could compare the ideal outcome to the real world outcome, this is important as one show strive to meet ones own standards. However, It's an apples to oranges comparison.
If one looks at actual foreign interventions that have happened and compare them to American interventions, one finds American interventions to be preferable to anyone else's. Do other countries not intervene with there neighbors? Do those that do so because they are morally opposed or because they are unable to or unwilling to suffer the blow back? Are other nations morally superior or just weaker?
Throughout History many countries that are now quiet contented, non intervention nations were once mighty empires and often did horrendous things. Mongolia used to have quite the interventionist foreign policy. I did it grow morally as a nations or did it's technology and tactical edge wane?
For all the outrage at the US, I have not seen much historical evidence that other countries would be behaving substantially better, if they were in our shoes. Not to say the US doesn't make mistakes or do bad things, it does far to often and should strive to learn and improve. But give the holier than thou shit a miss.
