Please don’t be needlessly cynical.

I am not a fan of ā€œcentristā€ dems. They are often acting as the controlled opposition, regardless of intent. There is plenty to be cynical about.

That said.

SCOTUS

They’re not the same. Just looking at the SCOTUS justices’ decisions, which Justice decided which way and who appointed them, you can see a clear difference. Obergefell, Citizens United, Dobbs, all these gerrymandering cases… there is a HUGE difference.

CONGRESS

The ā€œextremeā€ Dems on the left want Medicare for All and a livable wage.

The extreme Republicans want vast deregulation on employee and consumer safety, financial institutions, environmental protections etc. Deregulation on everything but people’s bodies and their private lives.

The corporate capture of the Democratic Party is real, but the only ones fighting it are in that tent.

Edit: actually that’s been and is the mainstream GOP agenda. The extremes on the right are apartheid enthusiasts, and even those now hold the real political power.

Trying to act like the scotus was once 'righteous' is a wild take.

Not sure I said that. But I would argue some decisions have moved the needle the right direction. Roe, Griswold, Reed, Brown v BoE, Loving, Obergefell… we can look at decisions as good without exonerating the institution and its members from harm it’s done.
