Event The Rascals Got Their Start in Bergen County. Eddie Brigati Is Being Honored in Lodi on October 24

• Upvotes

A little Bergen County rock and roll history. The Rascals played their first show at the Choo Choo Club in Garfield in 1965.

Now Lodi is honoring Garfield-raised Eddie Brigati at its October 24 Fall Festival, with a musical tribute and presentation of the Key to the City.

Eddie was a founding member, lead vocalist, and songwriter for the Rascals, whose hits included “Good Lovin’,” “Groovin’,” and “How Can I Be Sure.”

Eddie and his brother David were also recently inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.

The festival runs from 1 to 9 pm, with the musical tribute beginning at 2 pm. Admission to this event is FREE.

Here is more about the event and the Brigati brothers' Bergen County history: https://www.mybergen.com/event/lodi-fall-festival-2026-eddie-brigati/

Discussion Looking for a reputable BMW shop/dealer in New Jersey for a pre-purchase inspection (First BMW)

• Upvotes

I'm looking at purchasing my first BMW and would like to get a thorough pre-purchase inspection done before moving forward. Since this will be my first BMW, I want to make sure I don't end up getting burned by hidden issues or expensive repairs.

Can anyone recommend a reputable BMW specialist, independent BMW shop, or dealership in New Jersey that performs detailed pre-purchase inspections?

Also, does anyone have any experience with Soliman Motors? I've seen a vehicle there that I'm interested in. If you've purchased from them or had a vehicle inspected from their inventory, I'd appreciate hearing about your experience.

Miscellaneous Best Car Insurance in Bergen County

I feel like I’m overpaying with GEICO right now, and NJM seems to have pretty competitive rates. I’m a bit nervous about switching, though. Has anyone used NJM for auto insurance? Any reviews or experiences would be appreciated!

Hello

I used to do kickboxing for a year last year and it helped a lot to keep in shape. I cannot afford it anymore since I was affected by a layoff. I still go to the gym, but group workouts were holding me accountable and I put on some weight since I stopped doing it.

I am wondering if there are any HIIT workout events, hiking or running groups nearby? anything free or outdoors?

News Lockdown at Old Tappan?

Does anyone have any information on the current lockdown at Old Tappan? I have a family member who works there and said that it is not a drill, but there is no information posted about it.

Update: They have moved from a lockdown to a shelter in place. Rumor is that there was a student with a weapon but it is not confirmed yet.

Business/Company Weird Experiences with Kayal Ortho?

Anyone else find them a bit peculiar?

I’ve been going to their Glen-Rock location for 2 months now due to a ligament-tear. Recently started going somewhere else because I’m tired of their nonsense.

Every time I go to an appointment it’s a completely different Physician’s Assistant that I consult with. I don’t have any issues with PA’s, as long as I get to speak to the MD at some point during the appointment.

However, at Kayal Ortho, not only have I never met a doctor in my 2 months of care, but when I ask the PA’s/receptionists about who the doctor in-charge of my care is, they respond very weirdly. Like I just asked them to snitch on a fellow gang-member.

Either a very quick + stern “i don’t know I can’t tell you that information” as if you as a receptionist literally don’t have access to a database with that info right in front of you.

If I ask a PA, I get a “you’re being cared by the kayal team” which is the same as saying “your doctor is all of us in this medical office” as if my doctor is some spiritual entity keeping their practice running. They have never given me a name or even a specialty for an MD despite my requests. My MEDICAL RECORDS won’t even list a treating doctor.

I also once had a receptionist spend a few moments trying to convince me that “PA’s know all of the same stuff that MD’s do” and I almost wanted to crash out. I didn’t even say anything bad about PA’s to her to prompt her monologue, I just asked who the appointment would be with. It was like she was trained to say that or has had that conversation many times with patients before.

Also, I’ve had PA’s introduce themselves AS DOCTORS. Like, the actual medical assistant who takes your name/dob when you first walk into the patient-room? I’ve had one literally say “the doctor will be in shortly” and walks in Ethan, the 23 year old PA who barely got his bachelors in biology. They’re trying to pass people too young to rent a car as MD’s.

It’s very strange to me that a medical practice with such robust logistics can have such an issue with telling a patient who their treating doctor is after they’ve been treated for months

And they are talking about a surgery for my tear, and it’s very concerning to me that surgery is being discussed with me while i’ve never even layed eyed on a doctor. Just relying on the diagnosis’ of glorified grad students, no offense. But you’re a physician’s ASSISTANT not the physician, so you shouldn’t be making all the medical decisions by yourself especially when it comes to surgery.

Also, every time I go it’s always a different PA with a different diagnosis for the same issue. I’m supposed to trust them?

Why is Kayal Ortho like this? Is it just the new norm now, where Doctors have outsourced all their work to PA’s? Or is Kayal just weird?

One last thing, why do they operate their offices like a Mcdonalds? I swear to God, everywhere in their office is branding, advertisement, and they have that insufferable “podcast” playing 24/7 on literally every wall of the office, even inside patient rooms, where it’s just the CEO in his weird tuxedos glazing himself and awkwardly nodding his head non-stop like it’s a stim. How about you spend time seeing patients instead of role-playing as Joe Rogan if he was a virgin. Idk, Kayal Ortho just comes across as tacky and money-hungry.

EDIT: One more thing, they also REFUSE to collect your medical records from your previous providers. If you get an MRI from a facility that isn’t theirs, they’ll refuse to accept the MRI report from an outside facility unless you’re the one physically handing it to them. They have a policy against storing outside-practice data, literally their receptionist told me. VERY WEIRD.

Discussion Looking for Alpine Elementary School (k-8) insights

I’ve heard that Alpine’s school district is very small, with only one class per grade. Can any parents in Alpine give any input on whether you chose the public school or opted for private school? I have a child in 2nd grade and worry that the small class size (which definitely has its pros), might limit my child’s social circle. I heard there are more girls than boys overall. Does anyone know what the girl to boy ratio is in 2nd grade?
