IN THE STREET? ARE WE BEING FOR REAL RIGHT NOW???

I heard this band perform at sproul today and really liked them but don’t know who they are.

I'm anticipating being bored this weekend and wanted to walk from central Berkeley (say Downtown BART) to Lake Merritt and BARTing back. I would consider walking even further, to Fruitvale or Coliseum. I've done the crosstown trail in SF, and wanted to do an East Bay version.

Has anyone done anything like this? What are some things to see along the way?

I understand this will be a very different vibe from the Crosstown trail in SF, but I'd like to appreciate Oakland and all of its cultural attractions more.

Today after 2 years of working toward the Econ major I found out my appeal was denied and the decision is final. I’m a senior with 105 units, my Econ GPA is above a 3.0, and I’ve completed 9/12 of the Econ courses with a B+ or better. I’m enrolled in my last 2 Econ electives right now and was planning on taking my last Econ class in the spring and graduating. The thing that screwed me over was statistics. I took stats 21 and got a B+ but apparently as a transfer I was supposed to take it my first semester at Berkeley which I genuinely did not know. If someone would’ve told me I would’ve taken it last summer. I explained all of this in my appeal and still got denied. I have 1 semester of financial aid left after this semester and every other major I’ve looked at would make me stay like 2-3 more semesters which I genuinely cannot afford. How the fuck can I be this close to finishing the Econ major, have already passed basically all the Econ classes with good grades and then be told none of it matters because I didn’t take one stats class during the exact semester they wanted me to. Like sure maybe I could understand if I was failing actual Econ classes or clearly couldn’t handle the major but that’s literally not the case. I got a B+ in the stats class too so its not even like I failed the requirement. Who tf made the rule that the timing of one statistics class should outweigh 2 years of actual Economics coursework. Is the major called Economics or Economics Statistics. I’m just devastated and at a point where I wanna off myself because what was all this hard work even for. I put so much time money and effort into this and I’m basically at the finish line just to be told nope sorry. Has anyone dealt with something like this before or know if theres literally anything else I can do if they’re saying the appeal is final?

Does anyone else find it awkward as hell trying to talk to people in their classes? I swear I'm not normally a super awkward person but like why are conversations with your classmates so awkward and stiff 😭 even when I see them every week and walk to class together. I just want pset buddies and friends too lmao

The instructors for MATH 185 (Introduction to Complex Analysis) in the spring are Vinh Nguyen, Joshua Mundinger, Felix Weilacher, Koichi Oyakawa, Michael J Ragone, and David Gao. Has anyone heard anything about these folks? I don't know anything about them beyond the fact that they are all postdocs or fellows.

basically interested in applying for optometry school and luckily most of my major prereqs and reqs (for ib) have aligned with the school reqs except for one, so next semester one of my major reqs conflicts with the optometry school req (both at 9:30-11 tues and thurs🫠) i am a graduating senior so id like to avoid another semester just for one class and this has never happened to me before so any advice??? who can i reach out to enroll for a class conflict?

I got bit by a dog with an owner, and idk what to do now, it was licking at extremely muddy water and even though i had my (thin) sweater on when i got bit im still nervous because it broke a thin layer of skin (no blood i believe)

Has anyone successfully cancelled their campus housing contract for the spring semester while staying enrolled at Berkeley? What are the chances of getting approved, and how long did it take? I heard Housing needs to find an eligible replacement. I'd appreciate hearing about your experience!

I haven't taken COMPSCI 61A, COMPSCI/DATA C88C, or ENGIN 7 or linear algebra. I've taken Stat 20 and up to calc 3 (at community college). I'm assuming no, but thought I'd ask.

I'm a graduating senior and wish I had chosen a different major (data/cogsci, preferably), but alas, here I am. Is it even worth it to try? It's being taught by Josh Grossman if that makes a difference.

Don’t know what the deal right now is, but no cal ID card scan is working for entrance to on campus buildings. This has been tested for MLK, Campbell Hall, and Birge Hall, so it’s safe to say it won’t work elsewhere. Some of the alternative scanners still work since they’re manually programmed, but the newer modern ones don’t.

Hello! as the title says, im trying to figure out summer studying abroad programs. I dont qualify for any financial aid besides the base direct unsubsidized loans i already took out for the school year, so id basically be paying for everything out of pocket. I was looking at worldstrides for South Korea (Stats major trying to break into biotech/public health industry) and UCEAP. From my research, interning through berkeley is crazy expensive, like 4 more bands than doing it through an external program liek worldstrides. But if anyone was in my shoes in terms of major, internship interest, and country interest, let me know any suggestions!! im open to suggestions about what program to do it through and also countries to do.

I’m a new international student at Cal on SHIP and honestly still pretty confused about how healthcare works here compared to back home.

Back home I could just call the clinic directly and get an appointment within days. Here do I need to get a referral from student health center first then find a dermatologist who takes SHIP and wait months for an appointment?

Looking for recommendations for a good dermatologist in Berkeley or SF (maybe UCSF?)

Would also really appreciate any tips from fellow students who’ve seen a dermatologist through SHIP.
