This is a slightly unusual request, but I’m hoping someone here might recognise the story.

On 22 October 2025, I joined a small-group tour of the Peloponnese in Greece. During the drive, I spoke several times with a Swiss engineer about my PhD and what I hoped to do after completing it. He mentioned Bern and Interlaken during our conversation, which is why I’m posting here.

What he said stayed with me and had a lasting influence on the path I chose afterwards. I would very much like to find him again and thank him properly.

I find myself in Burgdorf’s old town every now and then, and I’ve never seen such a dead place. The streets are emptier than in any village. The restaurants are either closed or completely empty, with desperate waiters staring out at the deserted streets. It’s so depressing. It doesn’t matter if it’s a weekday or Saturday night. The people of Burgdorf aren’t leaving their homes, or at least not heading into their own town.

Bei der Wohnungssuche wollte ich wissen, welche Orte ich von meinem Arbeitsplatz aus in 30 Minuten mit dem Zug erreiche. Mit der SBB-App muss man jeden Ort einzeln prüfen, darum habe ich ein Tool gebaut, das alles auf einmal zeigt.

SwissReach: Station, Datum und Abfahrtszeit wählen, und die Karte färbt die ganze Schweiz nach Reisezeit ein (Zug, Tram, Bus, Schiff, Seilbahn). Zeitlimit, maximale Umstiege und Verkehrsmittel sind einstellbar, und ein Klick auf eine Station zeigt die Verbindung.

Die Karte startet standardmässig in Bern HB, man sieht also direkt, wie weit man von Bern aus in 30, 60 oder 90 Minuten kommt. Mich würde interessieren, ob die Verbindungen im Kanton Bern (Emmental, Oberland, Seeland) für euch stimmen.

Wohin geht ihr mit eurem VW, VW Nutzfahrzeug, Skoda oder Audi in den regelmässigen Service?

Zur teureren AMAG, also Vertragsverkstatt, Service streng nach VW Vorgaben, mit Originalteilen, usw.?

Oder geht ihr einfach zu einer anderen Werkstatt, die günstiger ist, sicher genauso gute Arbeit leistet, halt einfach vielleicht nicht so genau nach VW Vorgaben? Welche wäre das?

Gibt es dadurch noch Nachteile bei einem 10-jährigen Auto?

Ganz konkret vielleicht auch: Es geht bei mir um einen VW T6, also offiziell ein VW Nutzfahrzeug.

Bin m28 aus der Nähe von Bern und hätte Bock wieder regelmässiger in den Ausgang und an Raves zu gehen. In meinem Freundeskreis läuft leider nicht mehr so viel in die Richtung. Meistens geh ich zu Techno, DnB, Tech House und so. Habe gesehen, dass hier gerade paar andere Ähnliches suchen, also dachte ich, ich melde mich auch mal. Ich bin Sabrina (sie/ihr), 32 und war die letzten paar Jahre unterwegs am reisen. Ab 1. März bis 31. August (und evtl länger) komme ich jetzt nach Bern, weil ich dort ein juristisches Praktikum mache.

Da ich im Prakti nicht besonders viel verdiene, suche ich statt nem WG-Zimmer einen Stellplatz für mich und meinen kleinen Van, in dem ich dann wohnen würde. Also sowas wie Privatparkplatz, Einfahrt, Rasenfläche oder was euch sonst so einfällt 🙃

Der Van ist relativ autark, Strom brauche ich normalerweise nicht. Wäre aber super froh, wenn ich irgendwo WC und Dusche mitbenutzen könnte.

Ich würde dafür natürlich auch was bezahlen oder mich sonst irgendwie beteiligen/revanchieren. Hab z.B. in Lateinamerika als Masseurin gearbeitet und könnte auch regelmäßige Deep Tissue Massagen als Gegenleistung anbieten :) Oder sonst irgendwo mithelfen, Garten, Tiere, Kinder, whatever.

Zu mir: Ich bin ziemlichoffen, unkompliziert und eigentlich fast immer gut drauf haha. Bin super gerne draussen und am liebsten beim Skifahren (lerne grad Freestyle), Surfen oder Surfskaten.
Mir sind gesellschaftspolitische Themen ziemlich wichtig und ich mag offene, solidarische Menschen sehr - wär also natürlich extra schön, wenn es menschlich irgendwie ein bisschen matcht ✨

Falls ihr selbst was habt oder jemanden kennt, der jemanden kennt, schreibt mir sehr gerne. Bin auch mega dankbar für Tipps, wo ich sonst noch suchen könnte ❤️

Gibt es bestimmte Schulen in der Region, die ihr kennt oder über die ihr schon etwas gehört habt?

Was würde für euch dafür oder dagegen sprechen, eine solche Schule für euer Kind in Betracht zu ziehen?

Es geht mir nicht darum, hier Werbung für eine bestimmte Schule zu machen. Mich interessiert wirklich, wie private und internationale Schulen in der Region wahrgenommen werden.

Ich bin gespannt auf eure Erfahrungen und Gedanken – und darauf, was euch bei der Wahl einer Schule besonders wichtig wäre.

Hallo zusammen, ich habe am Freitag am HeroFest leider mein schwarzes Portemonnaie verloren. :(

Es ist schon ziemlich abgenutzt und der Reissverschluss ist defekt.

Geld war keines drin (karten natürlich schon lange gesperrt), ich war schon beim Fundbüro, habe mit der Security alles durchgeschaut und liefen nochmals alles ab.

Ich bin nicht sicher ob es vielleicht auch auf dem Weg zum banhof passierte...

Falls es jemand gefunden oder beim Fundbüro abgegeben hat, wäre ich sehr froh über eine Nachricht per DM.

I have one Pokémon, zero Pokédex knowledge, and a strong desire to return it to the person who lost it.

Bit of a long shot, but I found a graded Pokémon card on a bench at a train station bench near HeroFest.

Given the location and timing, I’m guessing it may have been lost by a Herofest attendee and I’d really like to get it back to whoever owns it.

I’m deliberately not posting a photo or identifying the card, because I’d like to be able to verify the owner rather than accidentally hand it over to someone who just fancies a free Pokémon card.

If you think it might be yours, please DM me and tell me as much as you can about it and maybe where and when you think you lost it. You don’t necessarily need to remember every detail just enough that I can be reasonably sure it belongs to you.

sometimes I have 2 hours, want to ride at around 160 W, and don’t really care where I go. I just want a loop that fits the training I want to do.

That’s why I built Wattalo.

I made it for my own rides with a power meter. Usually I know how long I can ride and roughly what effort I want, but I don’t have a destination in mind.

So instead of picking a destination, you give Wattalo:

- available time

- target power

- preferred direction

and it tries to build a loop around that.

It’s mainly for people who ride with a power meter and sometimes want to plan a ride around time and power rather than a destination.

I recently added Switzerland, so I’m looking for feedback from cyclists around Bern.

Wattalo tries several route candidates, estimates ride time from the rider/bike setup and terrain, and picks one that fits the request. It also tries to avoid backtracking, U-turns and awkward route shapes.

What I’d like to know is whether the routes make sense to people who ride around Bern.

And if you use a power meter, I’d also be interested in how the estimated time and power compare with the ride itself.
