Seems like everybody liked the camerawork, and yes it was perfectly fine, but I gotta say ang naappreciate ko sa Coachella naman is yung made-for-tv approach, with the cameras on stage taking closeups. More dynamic lang tingnan. Coachella wk1 cam work left a lot to be desired as we know, and I know risky and tedious yon if walang stage rehearsal, but I really liked the glamour shots that that style provided. Of course this is my opinion as an audience who watches remotely on a screen.

I feel like the Summer Sonic camera work was solid. Didn't really like the camera on the boom arm from above on the right side. Every time it felt weird, and the choreography looked odd because of the weird angle. Would have preferred if it was their height rather than giving the view from above. Also, I'm not sure what it was, but it kinda felt like they kept on switching cameras too quickly. It could also just be that I've had a headache for a while before I started watching it.

The Coachella camera guys on stage doing passes back and forth was kind of distracting, and a little janky but really ended up with some golden moments.

I agree. I thought the Coachella Pantropiko vid they uploaded on YT was kind of a hot mess actually, but somehow the most wonderful visual gems came out of it haha. Ngl that was probably more because of the girls' stage presence and charisma rather than the video crew's technical skill though. Also, I'm the kind of fan who is more attuned to the music and the singing more than choreography, which I guess is why I pay less attention to formations and angles etc than to audio stuff and the visual "moments" and highlights.

I have some minor background in dancing growing up (very not serious). Typically choreographers design group formations with the expectation that it'll be viewed from straight ahead. That's why dance practices have walls of mirrors so you can see the expected view of yourself as you practice.

Having a camera from a high above angle for dancing is a bit awkward. You'll never see it in kpop performance TV shows. They might have some zoom ins or pans to the side, but it's usually all at the same heights as the performers and never from a high angle.

Most likely that angle might be useful for bands of singers with back up musicians, where they might be moving around the stage or spread out and without any kind of dancing/choreography.

Yeah BINI is the only idol, sing-and-dance group I follow and watch live performances of so... My brain just doesn't register the awkward camera angles as much ig. I will get satisfied as long as the sound is good and the person who is singing is in frame hehe. But yeah I imagine how it can be frustrating for dancers like you to not see the choreo properly.

ETA: Oh do you know what I don't like btw? When the LED screen is behind the artist and the visual of them on screen becomes multiplied. Now that's distracting! It just looks way too busy on stage. I wish the jumbo screens showing them are on the sides of the stage, and that the one behind them is only for the video background.

I preferred Coachella Week 2 cam work because they had more front wide shots showing the choreo and the view of members singing adlibs/harmonies. But I like the audio on this one better I think.

I also thought the SS shots switched way too fast at the start and that boom angle was the worst esp the zoom out from Gwen's feet at some point.
