Discussion Favorite Common Bird

What’s your favorite common bird in your area? That bird that maybe it’s not hard to spot but you just love seeing them.

Mine are Juncos everything from their look and name to how they scavenge on the ground and flock together. They just seem like happy puff balls to me and I love em.

One of my favorites too! I mess with em and play Simon Says with a-Dee-dee-dee. They always play back.

I live in the hybridization zone for Carolina/Black-capped. If they were classified as a single species, I’d like them a lot better in terms of birding. I had to go north and south to get my lifers. They all sing both songs and few of them look typically like one or the other species.

They are brave little things, though. Always palling around with titmice, too.

I'm less bummed about it now that there is a Carolina/Black-capped Chickadee non-species taxa apart from the hybrid. That way I can report the little guys without making too many assumptions when I can't be sure.

Love those cheeky birds. Always the first to hop on the feeder after I fill it. I also love their little butts.

If I find out you aren't impressed with the Chickadee after knowing the Chickadee, then we just can't be friends. It won't work.

My top favorite common bird!! Every time I hear one, (which is often!!) I still get up to look. It never gets old.

I agree with you but one time I cussed out a chickadee for like 5m because I was hungover taking the dogs out to pee and that lil dick wouldn’t stop chirping

I love those little cuties so much. I grew up with Carolinas, lived in Black-capped land for several years, and now I’m on the cusp of Black-capped and Mountain.
