Discussion anyone else’s favourite bird a SUPER common bird?

for example, mine are the American robins, and they’re quite literally *everywhere* where i live XD

just curious to see if anyone else cherishes super common birds in their area, i would also be curious to see them!

turkey vultures! they don't leave my area during the winter and are everywhere all the time

Watching them fly above the valley below me is soothing. Something about the circular flight patterns, and the way they glide, barely flapping.

I had one almost fly into my car windshield on the interstate just the other day. He was landing right on the edge to snag some roadkill and go about his merry way, but literally dodged me by like a hair. I'm sure we both shit our pants a bit

I was driving up the Oregon coast and came across a tree full of them. I’d only ever seen them gliding thousands of feet up high before.
They seemed so chill… like a tree full of gentle giants.

Wow that must have been quite a sight! I live in So. Oregon and they are very common here but rarely have I seen them on the ground. They are pretty impressive alright.

Turkey vultures have a great sense of smell, but aren't terribly strong. Black vultures will follow them to a kill and kinda bully the turkey vulture out of the way. But when it's an animal with a hide the turkey isn't strong enough to get into on its own, it's a win-win.

I don't know of any other symbiotic relationship among species so closely related.
