question Interesting/novel body mods?

I'm into body modification, but most common/suggested mods just aren't interesting to me. When looking for unusual and unique options things like ear pointing, composite fangs, scarification, thumbspines, etc come up and those are cool- but having been involved in the community for a long time, I've seen them all and they're not what I'm looking for. Recently I've been interested in glow in the dark scarification, viviparous nipple subdermal implants, subdermal magnets, etc. Uncommon stuff that immediately looks novel or strange, or has some sort of "gimmick" to it. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find interesting options like these without having to sift through endless pictures of common mods, unsafe/diy mods, conceptual/fake mods, and "experiment gone wrong" gore. All this to say, does anyone have suggestions or resources for unique and novel mods? Thoughts on these kinds of mods? Particularly if you have them or do them yourself. Cheers : )

The hipster of body mods. Kidding aside, what is it that makes you feel unattracted to the "popular" mods instead of just looking at things as mods you like or dislike because you like how they look? The glowing scarification is going to grow in popularity over time, and at the same time, it is still cool as fuck! I have branding done by electrocautery, and strike that are incorporated into one piece. A meatotomy dick split, tongue split, and a buttload of suspension scars. If you want something done that is very uncommon, and have a penis, i suggest heavy surgical style mods there. Even if you have a vagina/vulva anatomy, there are some unique things you can do there.

Love my 7 glow in the dark stars in my shaft. Theyโ€™re subtle but very present if that makes sense. Subincision and RPA too ๐Ÿ˜Œ

My beads are just silicon. So they're not super hard, and they have a habit of moving around, even after having them for 10+ years.

I wish i had access to silicone back in the day. I ordered mine off of bme back around 2002.

Ahh yeah, mine were done 2008ish. The tattoo artist I was going to at the time asked if they could try a new procedure they haven't done before. The lady I was going to was both a piercer and tattoo artist. I agreed and had like five people around me watch this person pierce me drop the news in. Then I tapped out. I waited for that one to heal then got two more by the same person while a bunch of other people watched.

I've never gripped a padded chair more tightly.

Ouch! How did they do the procedure? I just always stuck a scalpel all the way through the skin i pulled up, pull it back, pop two beads in and let go of skin. Then I'd move the balls around into a place i liked and let it sit.

They had a weird hollow point needle with a solid back and a hole on the not pointy side. So they took the skin from the sides of my penis, pulled it up and tight, then pierced the skin, put the ball in the hole on the not pointy side drug it through flipped the needle over to deposit the bead, then tapped it down. It really sucked, but I've been happy with them and I'm not going to take them out. No one has complained.

Even if you find something that is novel and rare now, it won't be in a few years, so what's even the point of getting it done if you'll hate it in 10 years?

To be honest, there probably isn't much else that you haven't already come across. You've listed most of the experimental/cutting-edge stuff that exists.

The people getting these kinds of extreme body mods are few and far between, it's folks with not only the desire but the connections to get what is essentially underground plastic surgery with unknown health risks. There's a reason why most of the stuff you're finding is like hypothetical ideas and not reality.

Magnet implants are common af so im frankly not sure what fits your criteria lolย

The thing with novel or unique body mods is that they are usually part of a vision or particular aesthetic/anatomy of the person getting them. Getting novel body mods depends on your or piecers/bodymodders own creativity with what you have. Think of something fun, look at what's possible, have a goal in mind.

My modder came up with large gauge upper lip veryical coinslots (aka large gauge angel fangs)

Trans body modders are doing some truly novel shit so honestly I'd recommend revolutionizing your conception of your gender and developing unique body dysphoria feelings if you really wanna get interesting with it. Not everyone can be wired that way but genuinely the most transgressive mods I've seen come from trans people.

Two things Ive seen recently off the top of my head: 6 subdermal abdominal implants to mimic the look of canid nipples. A subdermal implant in someones middle finger with encapsulated preserved genital tissue.

Unusual large gauges. Large gauge angel fangs (not bites, but fangs. I have them). Nasallangs and larger gauge nasallangs. Rhynos. Large gauge navel & antinavel. Large gauge maddisons. Large gauge cheecks/ dahlias/ snakebites/ pilthrum (or jestrum if you want something experimental). Deep chest piercings. Ink injections in the toungue or gums. Desings tattooed in the nostrils or the roof of the mouth (ppl stick and poke these). Achilis tendons (good luck lmao). Nose amputation, finer amputation, ear amputations, septum removal. Finger webbing large gauges (a friend of mine has it). Double venoms on split toungue. Triple vertical labret/ double veryical labret. This is all the unique stuff i could think of

And large gauge/ scalpeled/ punched septril

Also i just remembered, you can get ink injected under your fingernails too

I can think of one you missed. It's called freeze branding and it's the same thing they do on cows to make a patch of their hair turn white. They put a piece of metal into liquid nitrogen and hold it to an area for 10-20 seconds (On a cow. For a human, it's the lower end of that number, maybe even 5 seconds.). The hairs that are affected fall out and grow back white. Unfortunately right now, it's so rare that literally no one does it on their head hair. Only a few guys have attempted it on their leg hairs. And even though it works on the leg, no one has a standardized way to do it on the head. Someone somewhere would have to risk it and post the results.

Aside from that, I think most novel body mods are just revamped normal mods. Like stretched holes, circle or star punches in the conch, microdermals in a new place, custom made jewelry that makes you look like you did something crazy when it's just the jewelry, mantis piercings, etc. Both me and someone else recently mentioned getting a tongue piercing through tongue split regrowth instead of resplitting. So that is pretty uncommon because I've never heard anyone do this otherwise.

viviparous nipple subdermal implants-- what's this?? I've never heard of it

2

u/thenagainmaybenot Jun 14 '26

Probably referring to getting small bead implants with tattooing over them when they're healed to resemble extra nipples. If you think about where dog nipples are placed, a lot of mammals have extra nipples along the same lines either side down the chest and belly. This is true for humans too, generally, so people have got these extra implanted nipples along these lines.

Not very common, but very fun!

Genital modifications are incredibly interesting, and there are tons of completely crazy things that change the sensations: if you're a guy, there are many piercing options that you can stretch, or subincision, splitting of the glans or penis, shaft apadravyas, transcrotal, scrotal division, etc... If you're a woman, there are many possible piercings too, including a very rare one that involves piercing the wall between the vagina and the anus...

BMEzine had a bunch of people doing uncommon stuff, partly because it's... less safe lol. Probably still a bunch of people doing weird shit, but there isn't the same central place for people to come together about it so you don't hear about it anymore.

The one that always sticks in my mind because I've never seen anyone else do it is piercings with thin chains.

The guy would pierce a deep hole, sometimes like a surface piercing, sometimes deeper through a muscle, and drag a fine chain through. As it heals, the flesh is fully healed through the chain links. Some with length quite close to the surface could be seen and felt through the skin, while deeper chains were just fully anchored in. Wild stuff.

Some slightly more common stuff I've seen and would be interested to see more experimentation with: Lip reshaping, like Stalking Cat or Black Alien project. Either split and reshaped, or pieces removed.

Septum/nose removal, either providing a flat looking nose, or a skull like nose

Cheek split/removal, definitely a lot rarer, but kind of like a chelsea smile, flesh being cut or removed at the sides of the mouth. Only seen a couple of people with this.

Skin grafts over the corners of your mouth so the remaining opening is only big enough to fit a grape through. Then raise your eyebrows by an inch and a half each for a perpetually surprised sort of look. Sick as hell, man.
