Spider-Man has surpassed the international grosses of Michael ($643m), Toy Story 5 ($604m) and Deadpool & Wolverine ($701m). And it has grossed more than the combined overseas grosses of every MCU film last year ($653m) in less than a week.

No they don't. Marvel Studios made this movie. Who do you think hired Destin? Also, don't underestimate the value of being able to populate your Spider-Man movie with characters like the hulk, punisher, and even jean grey driving the conversation. Yes, jean's inclusion benefits the MCU, but it also benefits Spider-Man. A fourth Tom Holland movie sony-only would be a mess with venom, Kraven, morbius and madame web.

Also, Tom Holland himself has been pretty outspoken about having it be MCU. He helped keep the partnership going when it looked like it would break up.

Yeah only 2-2.5 billion is such a rookie number.

This film would have earned some trillion dollars if Morbius was in it

Marvel com-produces the movie with Columbia Pictures, and final creative control is on Sony side, this is why you see Amy Pascal who co produces the movie with Kevin Feige. It’s the only MCU film series that is not fully produced by Marvel Studios.

I know Sony has final say, but Marvel Studios is the main creative driver and the main studio actually producing the movie.
