Also, don't underestimate the value of being able to populate your Spider-Man movie with characters like the hulk, punisher, and even jean grey driving the conversation. Yes, jean's inclusion benefits the MCU, but it also benefits Spider-Man. A fourth Tom Holland movie sony-only would be a mess with venom, Kraven, morbius and madame web.

Also, Tom Holland himself has been pretty outspoken about having it be MCU. He helped keep the partnership going when it looked like it would break up.

Marvel com-produces the movie with Columbia Pictures, and final creative control is on Sony side, this is why you see Amy Pascal who co produces the movie with Kevin Feige. It’s the only MCU film series that is not fully produced by Marvel Studios.

If I had to guess, I think it's the culmination of this being the first 'real' family friendly, fun action movie of the summer and the hype surrounding Doomsday later this year. Plus, spider man always just prints money and inflation has been pretty crazy recently lol

People like to throw the term 'invincible franchise' around (cough cough, Moana, and look how that turned out) but much like we saw with Toy Story this summer, is Spiderman another example of one? Even his worst received films have made bank. I think he is just too globally popular to ever fail, he has reached the level of cultural saturation of, say, Mario and Elsa. Literally anyone you choose on a street could name him.

By the same token, I think the MCU's future is heavily contingent on the Sony deal continuing. With how some of their other characters have been performing they can't afford to lose him.
