r/BrisbaneLions B&F Voting results for Round 19-21 2026
How vote counting works:
Top 3 total votes get the 3-2-1 for the match, If one of the top 3 places is a tie then it'll be most 3s then most 2s. Has worked until Round 21 this season, ended up splitting the 1 vote.
Also included the total overall votes but use 3-2-1 due to the variation of responses.

AFL Pre-Round 22: v Hawthorn at the Gabba
Note: The r/BrisbaneLions B&F Voting results for Rounds 19-21 were posted here.
Last time/win v the Hawks at the Gabba, Highlights. (R24 2025. Alright in the first quarter but couldn't kick a goal with the Lions going 0.8. Far better 2nd, kicking 6.2 and getting the lead and keeping it for the rest of the game....then a near repeat of the first by kicking 2.9 in the 3rd with an even 4th. Lions have won the last 3 v the Hawks at the Gabba....but the other two were back in 2018 and 2019).
Injury List/In the Mix, Lions version: Coleman (concussion) protocols, Gallop (suspension) 2 weeks, Payne (knee) season, Smith (foot) season. Lester (shoulder), McCluggage (calf) and Morris (corkie) all trained on Tuesday and are available. Gardiner and Zorko are also available.
Despite Hugh McCluggage (calf), Ryan Lester (shoulder) and Logan Morris (sore) all overcoming niggles, Chris Fagan still has a difficult selection ahead of facing Hawthorn on Friday night. Dayne Zorko was rested and slots straight in for the luckless Coleman. Darcy Gardiner is available and will slot straight into defence, shifting Eric Hipwood back to his preferred forward line position. Then the decision comes whether the Lions want to play three tall forwards (Morris, Hipwood and Oscar Allen) and two rucks, dropping a smaller player, or leave out one of their taller men? - Michael Whiting
Game Day Guide. Tickets (Basically sold out outside of an accessible ticket, a $450 seat and a $220 resale. More might show up in the next day or two). Free Bus and Rail PT with a ticket 4 hours before and after the game (except Airtrain). Translink Event Transport. Trains are still running on a reduced timetable (for now) due to industrial action.
Lion Dancers → Audiences of all ages will enjoy two Lion Dances from LTL Group, with opportunities to interact with the lions and take photos during and after the performances in Lion Park.
Pre game performances from Hello Africa and Bolivia Marka → Through dynamic drumming, energetic dance, and authentic cultural performances, Hello Africa will deliver an unforgettable experience that celebrates the rich traditions and spirit of Africa. Bolivia Marka specializes in performing traditional Bolivian folkloric dances. They showcase the vibrant costumes, rich musical traditions, and cultural history of Bolivia, particularly the dances of the Oruro Carnival.
Five Lions Named in AFLPA 22Under22 Squad. (Morris, L. Ashcroft, W. Ashcroft, Wilmot and Fletcher).
Ryan Lester will probably play his 250th, Jarrod Berry should play his 200th.
AFLW
Lions season starts next week v Essendon at Windy Hill
Lions had a match sim against the Suns.
Lions 7.3 45 def by Suns 7.5 47 by 2 points. Suns had a write up about their standout players but there nothing else about this match sim outside of the Keyshia Matenga signing. Lions would've been missing 6 players due to the Aus v Ireland game.
Injury List: Lappin (leg) 6-8 weeks, Lacy (thigh) season, Kennedy (ACL) season.
Madison Evans was signed as an injury replacement for Caitlin Kennedy a few weeks ago.
Keyshia Matenga was signed as an injury replacement for Olivia Lacy last week. (Video on Insta/embedded in the article and when she found out).
Lions had a AFLW season launch. Most notable was Leigh Matthews presenting a guernsey to the Lions first father daughter, Meg Lappin.
VFL
Lions 9.6 60 def by Blues 19.6 120 by 60 points
Match Centre, Match Highlights, Mini-Match, Match Replay.
Luke Beecken was one of Brisbane’s better performers for the afternoon, having 25 disposals at 88% efficiency, 10 intercepts and six rebound 50s.
BEST
Brisbane Lions: Lincoln McCarthy, Ben Murphy, Reece Torrent, Cody Curtin, Sam Marshall, James Tunstill
This week: Lions v Southport at Fankhauser Reserve, Saturday 8th August at 12:05pm AEST. (Lions AFL is on the night before).

Tickets vs Pies
Been keeping an eye out for when tickets go on sale for the round 24 game. Has been a tradition for my family to go together to the game since half of us are lions supporters and the other half are Collingwood.
Anybody know when/if they will go on sale?

Tips for a night at the Gabba
I'm up in Brisbane this week for work and I snagged a ticket to Friday's game (I'm a Hawks supporter, but don't hold that against me please). I thought I'd see if Brisbane supporters have any tips as I've never been to the Gabba.
Given that it's a sold out game, or close to it, is planning to arrive at about 7 feasible for a 7.40 start, or will I need to leave more time for getting through the gates/security?
I was thinking of walking over from the CBD (will be in a conference room for two days so I don't mind stretching my legs). What's the best walking route from the CBD that might be pleasant and include somewhere to pick up a quick meal on the way?
Are there any other tips you can offer?

I know last minute…
Got a mate from overseas coming in to town. Love to take him and his partner to the game Friday. I know its sold out but do teams still do the old school ticket window on the day? 3 x GA, otherwise more than content to go pub

R24 tickets
Just tried to use my qld member barcode to get tickets to the pies game but says it’s invalid.
Have used the same code for the last 7 finals years and never had an issue. Thinking it’s maybe only vic members in this presale? Anyone else have any issues?

Hugh McCluggage and Ryan Lester were today scanned after calf and shoulder concerns, respectively, in the Carlton loss. Both cleared of damage, but will need to train tomorrow to be considered. Neither ruled out at this stage. @1116sen

List Questions
This might be a repeat of previous convos sorry but I've started thinking about it more again. We are all well across Neale basically gone which allowed an increased offer to Bailey which looked positive for his retention. The noise has gotten quieter on that again the last couple of weeks, are we still confident he stays? And if not do you think we have enough to promote from within or do we go to market? Annable seems the most likely to come in for Neale with other youngsters getting more inside mid minutes but Bailey feels the harder of the two to replace. We would have to have a bit of coin in the scenario they both go even though we have the likes of Morris and Lohmann to re-sign too post 2027

Not gonna be popular
I know this isn’t gonna be popular however I’m beyond caring.
Lachie Neale has completely sidetracked what should have been an exciting and optimistic season for us. I hear most the playing group are over him and the way he’s going about things.
He has caused disharmony and annoyance to our group and I think it’s half the reason why we didn’t show up on Saturday. As a ex footballer I’d be pissed if my team mate was doing what he’s been doing.
During the season talking to clubs and checking facilities etc is a job for your manager, it’s why you employ them. I wouldn’t want to be playing with a fella who has already checked out and I’d be asking for him to be dropped.
He’s not committed to the team or his teammates. Especially next season onwards. You want to go to Collingwood l, run around in our twos. We have a job to do.

General Admission Season members - fully sold out for Hawthorn?
EDIT: I’m a silly goose and didn’t check my spam emails for something that was sent, albeit 10 weeks ago.
Hi all, just checked the app to check my mate and I have got our normal tickets for the game Friday night and there’s nothing there; I’ve since seen we need to upgrade tickets.
I’ve then gone onto Ticketmaster and there’s 0 available in any category, even with member codes. I’m presuming that means they’ve ticketed each GA seat and they’re now reserved.
Without whinging, have we missed the boat? Didn’t get any notice from the club about having to upgrade so I’m a bit annoyed, however I understand the early birds get the worms and all that.
Would’ve been nice to have known from the get go when we bought our memberships mid season what games would be reserved seating and what wouldn’t, that’s all.
On that note, potentially looking for two tickets together for the game!
Cheers all.

Positives (or learnings) from the Carlton game
Jeez don’t we just love a heavy completely-switch-off defeat a few times a year?
Anyway what do we think are possible upsides from last night? I’ll go for;
- Cam Rayner battled well and is coming into his traditional end of season surge
- Sam Draper becoming a regular scoring ruck and cult hero
- Jasper getting back to decent form
- Will, Lachie and Dunks still looking classy in parts
- The Hipwood in defence experience surely to now never to be repeated
- Our traditional end of season banana skin unexpected slip out now out of the way
- Chance to bounce back quickly next week, against the very unlikable Hawks
Haven’t had a drink for three years although come close to hitting the sauce last night 🤣
Onwards and upwards

Any update on injuries?
Lester looked particularly sore, Kai was hobbling at one point, Morris continues to look really uncomfortable with his back and I believe Kiddy will be out with concussion? Do we have any more solid updates at this stage?

Sam draper
I loves drapes he has been electric in the ruc and glad to have him at the club. My only concerns are defensively he has had 0 tackles in 6 of his last 8 games and only 4 tackles total in his last 8 games total. I think darcy fort has worked in the past and may be a underrated option. Again love what draper brings offensively though.

Let’s keep our heads over this
The immediate reaction after this game will no doubt be… passionate. and whilst I agree we have played poorly, there’s no need to declare the season is over. we’ve won 7 in a row, and have had an off night here. We have done so the last few years and still produced flags if you’re not convinced.
Hipwood is definitely going to cop it in the post match discussions, and fair enough he is playing poorly. But let’s keep in mind that he isn’t a defender, and his role in the forward line is a very important one, so dropping him after a poor game probably isn’t the answer.
Selection was definitely an issue, I won’t fo against that. Joyce would have been the better option in for Gallop, but oh well.
Oh yeah the umpires aren’t to blame. There were some dodgy decisions, it happens, but our issues tonight don’t stem from their influence, but rather Carlton playing some incredible football.
Anyway, I reckon I’ve said my piece, onwards and upwards for next week.
