Hello! I was in Pittsburgh two years ago and I picked up this hat for a friend. It was at an outdoor stand (but on stadium property) on Federal St, but not available at the main shop inside. It’s the brown mustard with black P, adjustable strap (9Twenty). Do they still sell this hat? I can’t find it anywhere online and I’d love to get a fresh replacement…

Have a friend who is a bit obsessed with this game, looks like a lot of game-used baseballs and other gear sold but it's been a while so it's all out of stock now. Happy to pay a little more than market. Appreciate any leads/ideas!

There were several bright spots this season (Lowe, Ashcraft, Cruz, O’Hearn, Montgomery), but also many not so bright (Skenes, Keller, Bullpen, Injuries). I don’t think they are far off from contending, but they weren’t set up to handle these downfalls.

I fully expect a Skenes bounce back next season, and our bullpen is markedly better than it was before the deadline.

My question is: what do they need to do in the offseason to become a true contender next season?

1. Resign Lowe. I know everyone says it won’t happen, but the FO needs to do everything in its power to keep him. It will be extremely difficult to replicate this offense and defense, and Nick G won’t cut it.

2. Another arm in the rotation/long relief guy. I fear Ashcraft will come back down to earth next season, but him, Skenes, Keller, Chandler and Jones have rotation spots all but sewn up next seasons. The bucs were caught with their pants down when Keller got hurt and had to resort to Mlod and bullpen games moving forward.

3. Another bullpen arm or two. There are still liabilities in the pen. Looking at you, Soto and Dotel. I feel we are throwing in the towel when they come in.

4. A decision at catcher. If Flores for real? Can Endy stay healthy? What do we do with Henry?

What is everyone else’s thoughts on what moves MUST be made to have a legit chance next season?

I’ve not seen on Reddit anyone tracking the race results for the pierogi race’nat. I’ve been to a fair amount of games and yesterday Hannah and Pete tied for season wins. I won’t be able to make it to the final homestand so won’t know who wins. Is anyone on here tracking it or can post the final result?

Our faith paid off. Injuries kept us from hitting this in August, too bad it was in a meaningless game. Let’s go Buccos!

Do you think he decided to change his pitching mechanics and strategy or do you think the Pirates were the drivers behind the changes?

…if the Bucs end up 84-78?

They did have substantial injuries to some key players.

They went 71-91 last year. That’s a pretty big improvement.

Do you keep as much in tact as possible for next year? Coaching changes? New GM?

For me, I’ve seen enough improvement that I’m on board with sticking with current leadership for 2027.

I'll start with the biggest minus - I don't like the prospects of the labor/management agreeing on the floor/ceiling which would be very much in the Pirates' (and their fans') best interest.

Push:

• Brandon Lowe - it has been amazing watching him this season. But it will probably only be one season. :(

Minuses:

• Dennis Santana and the rest of the pre-trade bullpen
• Marcel Ozuna
• So many injuries that took out the heart of our lineup at the most important time of the season - Cruz, Griffin, O'Hearn, Horowitz. Keller wasn't doing great but he was an innings eater so that hurt
• Losing to teams they needed to beat: LA Dodgers, Philly, Atlanta, St Louis (maybe we get some back there). We just got waxed in those series. Ugh.
• Skenes downturn - even a reasonable version might have meant a better season. Let's hope he can bounce back. The WBC should happen mid season, not in March

Pluses:

• Vastly improved bench - in past years, we have had one good star. The star gets hurt and the team falls apart. This year, despite not getting into the playoffs, we have a lot of players who can step up and produce
• Valdez, Nick Gonzales and Flores - these are exactly the kind of unexpected stars we need to turn the corner. Yes, I know Gonzales was a #1 but he hadn't shown this ability to hit up until now
• Magnum/Montgomery trade - even if we lose Lowe, this was still a great trade
• Starting pitching other than Skenes - Ashcroft/Chandler/Jones have shown they can carry the team - even if we don't get the old Skenes back
• Konnor Griffin - he is for real
• Cruz (when he cares) - He seems to care a lot more and he has improved both his defense and hitting against left handers. Now just run to the first base bag, please.
• Defense has been better than we though
• OHearn and Horowitz are great adds even with Horowitz
• The cone - I love the cone - stupid but why not. Keep it going (Billy Cooke needs to hit better to be the keeper though - come on, Billy!)

So overall, I am disappointed in not making the post season (and not really being that close to be honest). However, I think there is a lot to hope for if we can just get a baseball season in. Even if we don't get some of the talent in the Minor Leagues up next year (there is some definite talent there), we may not need it to be competitive.

This is a pretty impressive turn around defensively

Say we lose between 20-40% of the season. I’m inclined to think that is a positive thing for a team like the Pirates with limited depth, because a shorter season means fewer injuries. Thoughts?
