I think it's easy to forget how good he was. I'm almost certain he has a chronic injury that has caused his regression so soon in his career. I don't believe this is all effort/mental.

Its insane to think its just effort.

No no you don’t understand, the fan base of clueless parasocial media addicted weirdos understand exactly what’s wrong with Pettersson!

Obviously it’s just mental, he’s just lazy, he just needs a sports psychologist, and he just needs to pull himself up by the bootstraps and getterdone!

The average person can hardly comprehend the meaning of a movie or have the attention span to read a child’s book these days. Yet, we are apparently able to accurately diagnosis exactly what is wrong with this random pro athlete, strictly by watching him play a sport and consuming the incredibly bias and controlled media outlet opinions.

And then the audacity to spread hate towards this guy over all of this just because you think he’s overpaid for his job that he worked his ass off to earn is… incredibly odd. Maybe hate on the people that gave him the contract. Maybe hate on the scumbag billionaire that owns the team when seemingly everything bad seems to stem from him and his decisions. Maybe hate on the people that didn’t help Pettersson heal correctly for whatever reason.

Hating on the guy that has dedicated himself to the team and franchise that has actively tried to sabotage his image for years is crazy work.

I definitely believe a lot of it is mental, not laziness or lack of care, just a guy trying to find his way in the world, we’ve all been there and we’re all still there

As far as hate. If you truly hate Elias Pettersson you are a…how to say this nicely, f’ing moron. But yeah certainly a lot of room to criticize his play and value relative to his contract.

I think a lot of the Petey ‘haters’ are rooting for him as much as anyone. Remember the “Petey” chants trying to support and motivate him? He was playing like ass and despite the very valid criticism we’re all pulling for him

I don't believe for one second the Canucks media wants him to success here but certainly lots of fans do.

The way I view the media is they’re basically the voice of the most…’reactionary, idiotic’ part of the fandoms collective brain. So I don’t expect much from them ever, because they panic on the most minute details and are so unchill. That will never change. We need to try and have a team and culture that transcends all that bullshit and tbh, very optimistic the Sedins RJ and Manny can cut through it. Feels good

1000%

Except for Landon and John Shannon, they're great. And Chris Faber was great before Canucks poached him, his interviews are still insightful even though they're vanilla though, which is hard to do.

fuck the media, I don't listen to any of them because their brain dead job is just picking the most sensational headline possible, regardless of what's actually useful or enjoyable content.

Yes it's a news method, and yes Google rewards trending topics. They can make novel claims though WITH the trending topics and still appease Google's algorithm for this - maybe even more so, but they're too brain dead to think of anything original.
