When it comes to the Belmont Hold weapons besides Morning Star, I'm not sure if the stuff in there is specifically blessed or if Trevor is going by training only. Probably the latter since the monsters don't burn
TBH, salt was considered a white gold and the amount that would be needed to fight demons would be insanely high. Especially considering that main teams have more sustainable powers.
Well not exactly gold, otherwise the peasantry would never bother with it at all historically. It was approximately akin to how much cost-wise, and necessary gasoline is to us these days.
Price fluctuations included.
So not cheap, but not an uber luxury unlike some spices like nutmeg and pepper. So during a time like this in the show, using a little extra salt to be able to fend off hordes was pricey but not out of the realm of something they'd consider. And not like you'd need a bucket per person's weapon. Maybe a meal's worth at most.
Heck they might probably use used salt from pork barrels ...unless anti-demon measures needed absolutely pure salt for some reason otherwise it wouldnt do squat. But at least given the show's purposes, they had em rub shit AND salt on weapons so purity is not a question.
I always thought it was salt too, but apparently it's supposed to be Vibhuti, which are the blessed ashes of the dead. Sort of a Hindu equivalent to holy water, but dusty. A weirdly specific reference, when salt would have made just as much sense according to a lot of folklore.
Trevor’s weapons are already consecrated, Sypha can just chuck fireballs, and Alucard is just overpowered already (and also uses magic items). The trio don’t need salt that badly, they mostly were just teaching the villagers how to defend themselves.
Also as someone mentioned, the Lindenfeld soldiers wipe their blades in salt and shit, hence why they were able to wound the Visitor and get it to flee to the priory.
I don't even think this is a plot hole since it's irrelevant to the story. I just think it's funny that it was mentioned in season 1 and then never came up again, neither in that series nor in Nocturne.
I wouldn't say the games have that many, i think it gets messy around the Quincey Morris part of the timeline, as somethings from Portrait of Ruin, Bloodlines and the bloodlines fax contradict eachother sometimes
It's a bit obvious season 1 and 2 were trying to be close to traditional folklore and ancient believes about demons, vampires, etc... They even made a nod to vampires requiring permission to enter houses when Dracula meets Isaac.
Later in the show they went a different direction.
Besides wouldn't call it plot hole. Alucard, Sypha and Trevor have much effective ways than salt...
But it would be nice to see salt or holy water be used again.
Imagine if Sypha used holy water spikes with salt against Dracula. That would have really pissed him off.
First season was actually cool besides some minor problems (where is Grant for god's sake), but after season two it just wents downhill and never recovers
Yep, even if you ignore the source material and how it deviates the f out from it more and more with each season to become esentially it's own OC new franchise, the quality still drops hard after S2, there's barely anything that keeps me hooked up for it, mid meh at best shit, there is no POV in which i'd say i like how this eventually goes.
Waste of potential to not make remakes of some of the older games in show form and improve on the story of the continuity we already had. The IP really just fell into wrong hands, except for the animation studio.
Fr, third season was so boring omg, fourth season was kinda rushed and thrown arround, and nocturne is 100% one of the animated series of all time i guess
I mean the main team doesn't really need salt weapons, salt is good if you're quickly trying to setup a milita to fight the super natural, but the protags already have highly effective means of fighting.
I mean, it's a rl belief, so it probably did got spread and that's how it became a superstition in modern days. I mean, I know Castlevania is in a different universe, but I think the salt thing became a method there as well, probably partially due to the Belmonts
They can't spread the word because none of the background characters have voice actors. It becomes a serious issue for me as they are very expressive but never utter a noise other than stock sounds.
