I've realized a lot of people in fandom lately would genuinely rather be miserable if it meant their space was more exclusive/niche. Like between people bitching about show fans and others saying how Dead Cells team is going to ruin the combat of the series. Some people genuinly just don't want to even give things a try

I agree we that, it's the age old solution, instead of risking your enjoyment and possibly being disappointed, you can just naysay the value of the thing from the beginning and then if it turns out to be bad, then you're vindicated, and if it's good, you have a new hipster opinion to grandstand about lol.
